DFS NHL Snipes and Grinders for DraftKings and FanDuel - 10/22/24

Crazy slate today where everyone is playing. We have to stick to our guns and our strategies here. A slate this gigantic means that it is far more likely for players to fail than it is for players to succeed. There is basically no chalk.

Correlated Snipe #1 – Auston Matthews – Mitch Marner
We can throw Matthew Knies or Oliver Ekman-Larsson (OEL) in these stacks as well, as they correlate fairly directly to these 2 star player’s production. The Leafs powerplay has struggled, but has looked better with OEL at the point. Their powerplay is ready to pop off, and if we are going with the law of averages, they are due to pile up some points. He would never admit it, but I would bet that Matthews really cares about his goal totals and wants to start adding them up. Marner needs to step up his production as well in a contract year. The matchup is good against the awful Blue Jackets, and I expect a lot of Toronto fans to invade Nationwide Arena even on a Tuesday.

Correlated Snipe #2 – Jack Hughes – Jesper Bratt
Jack Hughes has been getting scrutinized in the media for not having a typical superstar start to the season, and these kids see that stuff. Hughes is a great player and Bratt is very good, and they’re catching TB on the second game of a back to back. I love this stack if Vasilevskiy does not start for Tampa. I also love the fact that NJ is at home in this game. This way the Devils can put Hughes in matchups that they like. This stack depends mainly who Tampa decides to stick in net, but if it’s their backup, I expect the Devils to feast.
Correlated Snipe #3 – Nazem Kadri – Andrei Kuzmenko
The Flames are at home and are against the Penguins who stink major poopoo farts defensively, and they haven’t gotten many saves either. Jarry is awful, Blomqvist is due for negative regression, and Nedeljkovic hasn’t played yet this year. The Flames have been a pleasant surprise this year and they will be super low-owned as a high-upside late night hammer.
Grinders:
Lane Hutson – Still too cheap. Always is hovering around the blocked shot bonus, and he could score in a moment’s notice with his skill.
Damon Severson – Another cheap defenseman here that can hit both bonuses on Draftkings. The Jackets need Severson to be really good this year.
Lucas Raymond – Too talented for this price point, period. L1 and PP1. I don’t love Detroit in this spot, but Raymond at this price is laughable, and is a great one-off as well in your 4/3/1 stacks.
William Eklund – Another great young and cheap player here in a great spot vs the Ducks. Tons of ice time and is.on the top powerplay unit.
