NHL Building Blocks – October 31
Happy Halloween! No spookiness here, but rather seven nice games to wrap up the first month of the season. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – October 31
The Goalie: Anthony Stolarz
Stolarz has been solid all season as he could be taking over the top spot in net for the Leafs, going 4-2-1 with a 2.45 GAA and .914 save percentage. Seattle’s offense has a few pieces but is not that intimidating, and Toronto is around a -210 favorite at home tonight.
The Center: Connor Bedard
Always a solid floor (three goals and six assists in 10 games to go along with 34 shots) and a good ceiling in this one facing a bad Sharks team. May go slightly overlooked with some other bigger-named centers on the slate.
The Wing: Filip Forsberg
High-volume and high-upside facing a bad Oilers defense. Averaging just under five shots per game and has four goals and four assists in nine games.
The Defenseman: Roman Josi
Perhaps the best floor of any player in the league, Josi averages four and a half shots and two blocks per game in 26 and a half minutes of ice time per contest. No McDavid means an easier defensive time for him as well.
The Value: Vasily Podkolzin
Getting a look on L1 with Draisaitl and could see a bit more playing time with McDavid sidelined.
The Stack: TOR1 (Matthews-Marner-Knies)
10 goals between them, and Seattle’s defense isn’t anything special. The Leafs also play better at home, and they’re one of the biggest favorites tonight. Mix in Nylander (three points last game and six goals on the season) and Tavares (hat trick last game) for power play exposure.
