NHL Building Blocks – October 26
Saturday night features a great slate of 11 games with some nice offenses and some strong goalies in play. Who should we attack? Where can we get some leverage? Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – October 26
The Goalie: Igor Shesterkin
The Rangers get one of the better matchups on paper tonight facing the Ducks who continue to struggle to score (just 15 through their first six games). Shesty (4-1-1 / 2.16 / .926) has been playing as he usually is, and the Ducks shoot the fifth fewest times per game in the league as well, so I don’t mind going to him in all formats tonight.
The Center: Jack Eichel
Eichel has looked very good this season, scoring two goals and adding 11 assists through eight games, and the Golden Knights face a horrible Sharks team tonight (and even though it’s a back-t0-back night for Vegas, I don’t mind going right back to him).
The Wing: Artemi Panarin
The Breadman has looked unstoppable, ranking second in the league in scoring with 14 points (including six goals), and the Rangers have one of the best matchups tonight against a bad Ducks squad.
The Defenseman: Quinn Hughes
Last season’s Norris has started off well with a goal and five assists through six games, and he’s playing 25 and a half minutes per game. Solid floor and ceiling in all matchups.
The Value: Conor Garland
Garland has three goals and three assists through six games this season and has been skating on L2 with Pettersson and playing on PP1 with the big boys. Vancouver gets a bad Pittsburgh defense on the second half of a road back-to-back. Too expensive for a value on FD, but he’s nicely priced on DK.
The Stack: NYR1 (Panarin-Trocheck-Lafreniere)
Hard to not consider this line one of the top options on the slate with Panarin’s early-season dominance, Trocheck’s consistency, and Lafreniere solidifying himself as a star (and with a new contract to boot). This trio has 12 goals and 16 assists between them thus far.
