NHL Building Blocks – April 1

First day of April and we’re in the home stretch toward the playoffs.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – April 1
The Goalie:
 Alexander Georgiev ($8500 DK / $8500 FD)
Has won seven of his past 10 starts and has been quite good this season (37-15-4 / 2.85 / .901).  The Blue Jackets’ offense is just not good, averaging just two goals per game during their current 2-9 streak (and 2.64 per game on the season), and they possess the league’s second worst power play at 14.6%.  The Avs are in a fight for the top spot in the West and should come out fighting in this one.

The Center:  Nathan Mackinnon ($10200 DK/ $10600 FD)
Possibly the highest upside tonight given the matchup; leading the league in scoring and is after his first Hart trophy.  Five goals (28 shots) and five assists in his last five games; averaging nearly five shots per game as well on the season.

The Wing:  Zach Hyman ($7900 DK/ $9300 FD)
Career-high 52 goals on the season and counting; four goals (23 shots) and an assist in his last five games.

The Defenseman:  Adam Fox ($5800 DK / $7500 FD)
Three goals and five assists in his last five games; averaging over a point per game and in a nice spot tonight.  Great price on DK.

The Value:  Drew O’Connor ($3500 DK / $4300 FD)
Goals in three straight games and is still on L1 with Crosby; tough matchup tonight, though.

The Stack:  COL1 (Mackinnon-Rantanen-Lehkonen)
Might be the most popular team tonight; the Avs are second in the West and fighting for the top spot, and they’ve got the best goals scored average (3.74 per game) in the league, which should be on full display tonight against Columbus, who has lost nine of their last 11 games and allow 3.65 goals per game.  Mix and match these four (they plus Makar are L1/PP1 together) and mix in Drouin.

The Builder: COL/NYR ML parlay
