NHL Building Blocks – March 8
Solid four-gamer to start the weekend right. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 8
The Goalie: Connon Hellebuyck ($DK / $FD)
Good spot for the Jets and their 2.41 goals allowed average. Seattle is trending down not just in record but in personnel, beginning to sell off pieces and signalling that they’re out of the playoff picture. Hellebuyck (29-13-3 / 2.29 / .922) continues to be one of the best goalies in the league this season. Roster comfortably.
The Center: Nathan Mackinnon ($DK/ $FD)
Great upside tonight for Mac as he looks to continue his elite play. Six goals (28 SOG) and seven assists in his last five games.
The Wing: Jason Robertson ($DK/ $FD)
Four points and 15 SOG in last five games and is averaging close to a point per game this season; Ducks are throwing in the towel.
The Defenseman: Cale Makar ($DK / $FD)
Trending toward over 90 points this season and has perhaps the best upside of any defenseman in the league. Great spoint tonight.
The Value: Logan Stankoven ($DK / $FD)
Five goals and three assists in his last five games and playing very well with increased time.
The Stack: COL1 (Mackinnon-Rantanen-Lehkonen-Makar)
Should be popular as they are at home and the Wild are on the second half of a road back-to-back. Colorado’s offense is booming, averaging 3.70 goals per game (best in the league) and possessing a 24.4% power play, fourth-best overall. Minnesota’s defense does not scare, so this stack (which correlates on L1/PP1 together) should be popular. Mix in Drouin and Toews as secondary pieces.
