NHL Building Blocks – March 4
Nice-sized slate of six games to start off the week. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 4
The Goalie: Alexander Georgiev ($8500 DK / $8600 FD)
Should be a very popular goalie on the slate as he is facing perhaps the worst offense in the league. Colorado is average defensively but has a decent penalty kill, so if they can limit their mistakes, Georgiev (who has won four of his past five starts) should have no issue tonight…plus the game is in the Denver altitude.
The Center: Nathan Mackinnon ($10500 DK/ $10600 FD)
Highest upside on the slate given the matchup; nine points and 27 SOG in L5 and is second in the league in scoring.
The Wing: Jonathan Marchessault ($6400 DK/ $7700 FD)
Can’t argue the spot or how he’s been playing lately (four goals and five assists in L5). Facing a bad defense tonight and should have a lot of chances.
The Defenseman: Shea Theodore ($6300 DK / $6900 FD)
Eight assists in his last five games; time in all three situations as well. 27 points in 26 games this season and looks great.
The Value: Michael Amadio ($3300 DK / $3900 FD)
L2/PP1 for cheap; three points and 17 SOG in L5.
The Stack: COL1 (Mackinnon-Rantanen-Lehkonen-Makar)
Highest upside stack on the slate, especially with the matchup against a team that allows 3.56 goals per game on average. Colorado is second in goals per game (3.67) and seventh in power play (24.0%), and both should be on display tonight. Mix in Drouin for power play exposure as these four are L1/PP1 together.
