NHL Building Blocks – March 30
Ten games on the docket tonight, and there are some nice matchups with some playoff implications. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 30
The Goalie: Pyotr Kochetkov ($8300 DK / $8500 FD)
Carolina looks incredibly solid all around, and their defense is no exception, ranking fourth in goals allowed and tops in penalty killing. Montreal is 27th in the league is scoring and is eliminated from the playoff race. The Canes have gone 11-4 in their last 15, allowing just 34 goals during that time, and Kochetkov has been solid all season filling in for Andersen. Solid play.
The Center: Sebastian Aho ($7600 DK/ $8700 FD)
Five goals and three assists (14 shots) in his last five games and gets a sieve of a defense.
The Wing: Nikita Kucherov ($9800 DK/ $10200 FD)
Hanging onto the scoring lead by a point; facing a bad Islanders defense (including the league’s worst power play). Two goals and eight assists in his last five games.
The Defenseman: Rasmus Dahlin ($6800 DK / $7300 FD)
One of the most secure floors in the league; averages three shots and two blocks per game.
The Value: Tyler Bertuzzi ($4500 DK / $5000 FD)
Five goals in his last five games (15 shots) along with an assist; still on L1/PP1 still and in a good spot.
The Stack: STL2 (Kyrou-Buchnevich-Saad)
Should be popular not only due to salaries (which aren’t outrageous) but also due to matchup as the Sharks are the worst team in the league, allowing four goals per game. The Blues are one spot out of the playoffs in the West and need every win they can get; they’ve won seven of their last 10 and have good momentum. This line has 10 goals and 10 assists in its last five games; mix in Thomas and Neighbors for power play exposure. Decently priced as well, which helps with the rest of your lineup construction.
