NHL Building Blocks – March 26

A nice slate of 12 games tonight with lots of playoff positioning matchups already.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – March 26
The Goalie:
 Jake Oettinger ($8400 DK / $8400 FD)
Should be very popular given their opponent, who scores just 2.20 goals per game over the season.  Dallas ranks just outside the top 10 in GAA and penalty killing, and they’ve won three in a row and will want to keep that momentum going.  Oettinger (28-13-4 / 2.97 / .898) has been quite solid this season, and he should be in position to do well tonight.

The Center:  Nathan Mackinnon ($10500 DK/ $10600 FD)
Three goals (26 shots) and six assists in his last five games and on an 18-game point streak; fighting for his first Hart win as well, and the Canadiens just won’t have an answer for him.

The Wing:  Alex Ovechkin ($6900 DK/ $8100 FD)
Eight goals in his last five games and getting a Wings defense that is not playing well; currently has the Caps in the last playoff spot and is dragging them to a playoff berth.

The Defenseman:  Cale Makar ($8300 DK / $8800 FD)
Frontrunner for the Norris; one goal and six assists in his last five games and facing an awful Canadiens defense tonight.

The Value:  Tyler Bertuzzi ($4700 DK / $4600 FD)
L1/PP1 against a bad Devils defense; three goals and two assists in his last five games.

The Stack: DAL1 (Robertson-Pavelski-Hintz)
Should be chalky facing the worst team in the league.  Dallas is fighting for the top spot in the West and has the league’s second-best goals scored average (3.64 per game).  San Jose can’t do anything right this season, especially defensively (giving up 4.00 goals per game, worst in the league, and they’ve lost seven in a row and 16 of their last 17.  These four (three above plus Heiskanen) are L1/PP1 together; mix and match.

The Builder:  COL/DAL ML parlay
