NHL Building Blocks – March 25
Small two-gamer to start off the week. Interesting matchups and some nice superstars in play. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 25
The Goalie: Logan Thompson ($7800 DK / $8100 FD)
Should be popular tonight; the Blues’ offense is below average across the board (25th in both goals scored per game and power play as well as 24th in shots per game). Vegas has a little momentum, wining five of thier past seven and moving up to eighth in the West, and they’ll need every win they can get if they want to defend their title this spring. Thompson (19-12-5 / 2.77 / .905) has been solid all season and has won three in a row, giving up just three total goals.
The Center: Jack Eichel ($8700 DK/ $9100 FD)
Solid spot; he’s playing very well (four goals and an assist to go along with 31 shots in his past five games), averaging over a point per game on the season.
The Wing: Adrian Kempe ($6600 DK/ $7500 FD)
Nine points (goal and eight assists) on 18 shots in his last five; solid play all around.
The Defenseman: Shea Theodore ($6300 DK / $7100 FD)
Five points in his last five games and seeing extra time with Pietrangelo out. 31 points in 35 games this season as well; skates L1/PP1.
The Value: Ivan Barbashev ($4100 DK / $4700 FD)
L1/PP1 with Eichel/Marchessault; goal and 11 shots in his last five games and is an aggressive player, averaging over two hits a game.
The Stack: VGK1 (Eichel-Marchessault-Barbashev)
The Blues’ defense is average, and Vegas is desperate for victories as they are hanging on to the last playoff spot at the moment. The champs have won five of their last seven, scoring three and a half goals per game during that stretch, and they’ll want to be aggressive here on the road. Mix in Stephenson and Karlsson as power play pieces.
