NHL Building Blocks – March 22

Four solid games tonight to start off the weekend.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – March 22
The Goalie:
 Alexander Georgiev ($8500 DK / $8600 FD)
Best matchup on paper tonight.  Colorado is playing some of its best hockey, winning seven in a row and allowing just 13 goals total during that span, moving to third in the West.  Columbus is trending in the opposite direction, finding themselves at the bottom of the East and allowing over three and a half goals per game.  Georgiev is also playing very well, winning eight of his last 10 starts.  Roster comfortably.

The Center:  Nathan Mackinnon ($10300 DK/ $10400 FD)
Highest upside on the slate tonight as he is chasing his first Hart; two goals (23 shots) and six assists in his past five games and has a 16-game point streak going.

The Wing:  Mikko Rantanen ($8000 DK/ $9800 FD)
Six goals and four assists in his last five; on pace for another 100-point season.

The Defenseman:  John Carlson ($6600 DK / $6200 FD)
Nearly 26 minutes a night and will be needed heavily against a strong Hurricanes squad; four assists and 11 shots in his last five games.

The Value:  Connor McMichael ($4300 DK / $4400 FD)
Four goals and an assist in his last five games; centering L1 with Ovie and also centering PP2 while killing penalties.

The Stack: COL1 (Mackinnon-Rantanen-Nichushkin)
The Avs are firing on all cylinders, winning seven in a row and possessing the top goals scored average (3.71) in the entire league.  They’re in a virtual tie for second in the West, just a point behind the Canucks, and they’ll want to take this game against the Blue Jackets, the worst team in the East.  Mix in Drouin as an inexpensive power play piece (these three plus Makar are L1/PP1 together).

The Builder:  COL/CAR ML parlay
