NHL Building Blocks – March 2
First day of March and we’ve got three games to kick us off. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 2
The Goalie: John Oettinger ($8500 DK / $8500 FD)
Might be the best play on paper; Dallas gets the worst team in the league at home in San Jose who is barely scoring over two goals per game. Stars have lost six of eight (but won their last game) and need to continue their push toward the top spot in the West (currently in second).
The Center: Vincent Trocheck ($7000 DK/ $7600 FD)
Five points in his last five games and averaging nearly a point per game on the season. Will miss the Leafs’ top line (along with Panarin) and should have some nice opportunities.
The Wing: Nikita Kucherov ($9600 DK/ $10200 FD)
Continues to lead the league in scoring (104 points in just 61 games); two goals and eight assists in his last five games and has at least a point in 18 of his last 20, and the Canadiens won’t be able to stop him.
The Defenseman: Noah Dobson ($6700 DK / $7400 FD)
Averaging over a point per game this season to go along with two and a half blocks and shots each. Will be needed all around against a tough Bruins squad.
The Value: Anthony Cirelli ($4500 DK / $5000 FD)
Centers L3 but is up on PP1 with the four big boys, and Tampa is in a great spot tonight.
The Stack: TB1 (Kucherov-Point-Hedman)
High-upside offense against a bad defense that gives up a lot of shots? Yes, please. For all of its offensive prowess (8th in goals scored and the league’s top power play at 29%), Tampa Bay is struggling to keep its place in the playoffs, and a win against a below-average squad tonight is a necessity. Mix and match these three and add in Stamkos for power play exposure.
The Builder: DAL/TB ML parlay
