NHL Building Blocks – March 17

Erin Go Braugh!  Five games on this St. Patrick’s Day Sunday to end the weekend.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – March 17
The Goalie:
 Connor Hellebuyck ($8200 DK / $8400 FD)
Should be popular facing the Blue Jackets who are on the second half of a back-to-back.  The Jets are fighting for the top spot in the West and will want to grab easy wins like they could tonight, and as they possess the league’s best goals allowed average (2.36), they look primed to do so.  Hellebuyck (30-15-3 / 2.33 / .921) has been one of the best goalies this season.

The Center:  Connor Bedard ($8300 DK/ $7800 FD)
Has been on a hot streak recently (three goals on 21 shots to go along with seven assists in his past five games) and is averaging just under a point per game on the season.  Sharks’ defense is awful, so we should see his talent on display tonight.

The Wing:  Kyle Connor ($8000 DK/ $8600 FD)
28 goals to lead the team despite missing 17 games; two goals and 16 shots in his last five games and should have a lot of chances tonight.

The Defenseman:  Seth Jones ($6800 DK / $6400 FD)
Three goals (20 shots) and four assists in his last five games and is seeing 25 and a half minutes per night in all three situations.

The Value:  Alex Nylander ($5300 DK / $4900 FD)
Moved up to L1/PP1 and has played very well; four goals (11 shots) and an assist in his last five games and is averaging a point per game in his first 11 games this season.

The Stack: WPG1 (Connor-Scheifele-Morrissey)
Will be the chalk stack tonight facing a bad Blue Jackets team on the second half of a back-to-back.  The Jets are second in the West and would love to grab an easy win tonight, and as Columbus has the third-highest goals allowed average (3.68) in the league, this is a possibility.  Mix in Toffoli and Monahan as secondary/power play pieces.

The Builder: WPG/CAR ML parlay
