NHL Building Blocks – March 14

Mega 12-gamer tonight with a lot of good offenses in action.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – March 14
The Goalie:
 Jeremy Swayman ($8400 DK / $8700 FD)
The Bruins still have a very solid defense (2.70 goals per game and an 81.7% penalty kill), and they face a Canadiens team that is struggles to score (27th in goals per game) and shoots (28th in shots per game).  Swayman has won five of his last seven starts, including holding the Leafs to a single goal twice during that run.

The Center:  Auston Matthews ($9800 DK/ $10100 FD)
54 goals in 63 games and still shooting a ton (22 shots in last five); Flyers shouldn’t have an answer for him.

The Wing:  David Pastrnak ($9700 DK/ $10100 FD)
This matchup is made for Pastrnak; the Canadiens give up the third most shots per game and he averages five per contest this season.  Three goals (22 shots) and four assists in his last five games.

The Defenseman:  Noah Hanifin ($4800 DK / $5800 FD)
Two assists in three games since coming over to Vegas; five shots alone last game and should be active again in this one.  Nicely priced as well.

The Value:  Todd Bertuzzi ($4800 DK / $4200 FD)
Still too cheap seeing L1/PP1 time with all the big boys; good matchup tonight.

The Stack: TOR1 (Matthews-Nylander-Bertuzzi)
Nice matchup tonight for the Leafs and their elite offense (4th in goals per game and 2nd in power play); the Flyers have a good defense, but the Leafs have won 11 of their past 14 games, and Philly can be gashed by elite offenses (TB put up seven against them the other night).  Mix in Tavares and Rielly as secondary/PP pieces.

The Builder:  BOS/PIT ML parlay
