NHL Building Blocks – March 13

Middle of the week and we’ve got a mini slate of four games.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – March 13
The Goalie:
 Stuart Skinner ($8400 DK / $8300 FD)
Home facing a Caps offense that is 29th in the league in goals per game (2.65).  The Oilers have moved into the top 10 in goals allowed average (2.84), and Skinner (29-13-3 / 2.58 / .907) has won four of his last five starts.  Should be popular tonight.

The Center:  Nathan Mackinnon ($10300 DK/ $10200 FD)
Matchup-proof and in definite consideration for the Hart this season; should be able to do what he wants against an average defense in a good game environment.

The Wing:  Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($5500 DK/ $7100 FD)
Cheaper than Hyman and still correlates the same, and also kills penalties; 56 points in 62 games this season.

The Defenseman:  Quinn Hughes ($6500 DK / $7400 FD)
Goal (14 shots) and five assists in his last five games; will be active all over against a strong Avs squad.

The Value:  Nils Hoglander ($3500 DK / $4500 FD)
Sneaky 20 goals on the season and on L1 with Pettersson; five points in L5.

The Stack: VAN1 (Pettersson-Suter-Hoglander-Hughes)
Home against an Avs team on the second half of a road back-to-back.  Vancouver has won four in a row and will look to keep the top spot in the West, so they’ll want to show up for this one.  The Avs’ defense is solid but not spectacular, so I don’t mind some shares here.  Can easily go with either of the top two lines, but I like this one as the forward trio is cheaper and Pettersson has the highest upside on the team; mix in Boeser and Miller with Pettersson/Hughes for power play exposure.

The Builder: COL/VAN O 6.5 goals and WPG ML parlay
