NHL Building Blocks – March 12
Nice-sized slate of 10 games tonight. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – March 12
The Goalie: Samuel Ersson ($8500 DK / $7900 FD)
Should be popular facing one of the worst offenses in hockey. Philly plays solid defense as well (2.94 GAA, 11th in the league, to go along with the second-best penalty killing at 85.4%). Ersson (18-3-5 / 2.62 / .898) has been very adequate, and at home should come out of tonight with a strong result. Priced better on FanDuel, but a solid play either way.
The Center: Nathan Mackinnon ($10500 DK/ $10400 FD)
Five goals (28 shots) and eight assists in his last five games and should be able to do whatever he wants against a below-average Flames defense.
The Wing: Kirill Kaprizov ($8600 DK/ $9500 FD)
Nice matchup tonight against a bad Coyotes defense; five goals (14 shots) and two assists in his last five games.
The Defenseman: Noah Hanifin ($4800 DK / $5800 FD)
Two assists and two SOG in the two games since coming to Vegas; slotted right onto L1 with Eichel and March (also sees time on PP2).
The Value: Alex Nylander ($4600 DK / $4700 FD)
Four goals (16 shots) and an assist in his last five games. Canadiens’ defense is bad.
The Stack: COL1 (Mackinnon-Rantanen-Lehkonen-Makar)
Good spot tonight for the Avs. They’ve won five of six and have the league’s best goals scored average at 3.68 per game, and tonight they get a Flames team that is average defensively (but surprisingly good at killing penalties, though with Hanifin gone now, that should go down). Mix and match these four and add in Drouin.
