NHL Building Blocks – February 6
Eight games tonight to get the second half really started. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – February 6
The Goalie: Connor Hellebuyck ($8200 DK / $7500 FD)
The Jets face the Penguins, who haven’t been able to really get off the ground offensively this season; Hellebuyck, on the other hand, has been stellar in net (23-9-3 / 2.20 / .924), backstopping the Jets to the league’s best goals allowed average and putting himself into the Vezina conversation. Price is nice as well (better on FD, though).
The Center: Connor McDavid ($9200 DK/ $9900 FD)
Tied for fourth in the league in scoring; eight points in his past three games alone. Looks like the best player in hockey again, not just over the past couple of months but also during All-Star Weekend.
The Wing: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($5900 DK/ $7400 FD)
Like the matchup, correlation with all the big boys, and the savings with him over Hyman; having a slightly down year, but still productive (44 points in 45 games; six in his past five). Center-eligible on DK.
The Defenseman: Alex Pietrangelo ($6100 DK / $6200 FD)
Increased ice time and production with Theodore out, and will be needed tonight in all three situations against the streaking Oilers. Four points in his past five games and sees 24 minutes per game on the season.
The Value: Ilya Mikheyev ($3500 DK / $4400 FD)
May benefit nicely from skating with Pettersson and now Lindholm as well; nice upside here in a good matchup and also sees PP2 time. 23 points in 45 games.
The Stack: EDM1 (McDavid/Hyman/Nugent-Hopkins)
Going for 17 wins in a row…keep riding the wave. (Mix in Draisaitl and Bouchard for PP exposure – don’t feel limited to just L1.)
The Builder: BOS/FLA ML parlay
