NHL Building Blocks – February 27
Solid slate of 12 games tonight. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – February 27
The Goalie: Nico Daws ($8600 DK / $8300 FD)
Best matchup on paper tonight facing the Sharks. Devils’ defense isn’t that stout, but the Sharks’ offense is worse. Vanacek has been mediocre (17-9-3 / 3.18 / .890), but he’s got a very good offense in front of him to buoy him to a victory if he lets in a couple.
The Center: Jack Hughes ($9000 DK/ $10000 FD)
Great spot for him tonight; three points but 27 SOG in his last five games and plays over 21 minutes a night.
The Wing: Sam Reinhart ($7400 DK/ $9300 FD)
Would be leading the league in goals (39) if not for that Matthews fellow; three assists and 13 SOG in his last five games, but should have a good amount of chances tonight (increased if Tkachuk is out).
The Defenseman: Roman Josi ($7900 DK / $8100 FD)
Good spot playing against a strong offense and bad defense; 54 points in 59 games (also averaging three SOG and two blocks per) and five points in L5.
The Value: Nick Cousins ($2600 DK / $3200 FD)
Up on L2 in Tkachuk’s absence; a goal and 15 SOG in L5 and should have some chances.
The Stack: NJ2 (Hughes-Toffoli)
Should be the chalk team on the slate tonight. They’re healthy, and while they’re in a little bit of a slump, this is the best get-right spot a team could ask for. Sharks can’t stop anything (league-worst 3.77 GAA) and the Devils are right on the playoff line, so they need to take advantage of spots like this. Hischier-Bratt is a viable pair, but these two have a higher upside (and are more expensive); mix them together for power play exposure.
