NHL Building Blocks – February 21

Five games tonight…nice and tidy.  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – February 21
The Goalie:
Ilya Samsonov ($8400 DK / $8400 FD)
Should be a popular goalie tonight facing the Coyotes who are average offensively, and he’s got an elite offense in front of him.  Has had a decent season (12-4-6 / 3.19 / .882), but he’s been playing much better of late, winning six of his last seven starts and giving up just 16 goals during that time.  He also has an elite offense in front of him to buoy him if needed.

The Center: Auston Matthews ($10000 DK/ $10300 FD)
Seven goals in his last three games (two hat tricks) and 49 overall in 53 games; on pace for 74 goals.  Ride the wave.

The Wing:  Mitch Marner ($7200 DK/ $8800 FD)
Almost as hot as Matthews right now; one goal and 10 assists in his L5.  On pace for close to 100 points.

The Defenseman:  Rasmus Dahlin ($7300 DK / $7600 FD)
Very strong floor (and ceiling tonight as well); 42 points in 54 games (also three shots and two blocks per game).

The Value:  Juraj Slafkovsky ($4500 DK / $5000 FD)
L1/PP1; three goals and five assists in L5 and in a good spot tonight.

The Stack:  TOR1 (Matthews-Marner-Knies)
Elite offense that’s really firing on all cylinders at the moment, having won eight of its last 10 games.  Arizona’s defense is not good, and neither is their team as they find themselves in the midst of a 10-game losing streak.  Matthews-Marner is the higher upside play (especially with Matthews being on fire as he is); Nylander-Tavares is also valid, and mix and match them for power play exposure.

The Builder:  TOR-PHI ML parlay
