NHL Building Blocks – February 20
Nice slate tonight with eight games; some solid matchups with some great offenses. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – February 20
The Goalie: Cam Talbot ($8400 DK / $8000 FD)
Gets a great matchup tonight against a horrid Columbus team. The Kings have the league’s best penalty kill (86.5%) and are allowing just 2.64 goals per game, and Talbot is in a prime get-right spot, having hit a bit of a slump.
The Center: Aleksander Barkov ($7000 DK/ $8300 FD)
Goal and five assists in L5 and way too cheap facing a bad defense.
The Wing: Alex Ovechkin ($6300 DK/ $6600 FD)
Had his six-game goal streak snapped last game, but has at least a point in eight straight, and the Devils’ defense isn’t any good. Price is great as well for the environment.
The Defenseman: Roman Josi ($7300 DK / $7900 FD)
Always one of the best floors (50 points in 55 games and is averaging three shots and two blocks per game as well); tough matchup, so he’ll be needed all over.
The Value: Nils Hoglander ($3500 DK / $3900 FD)
L1 with Pettersson/Lindholm; two goals and two assists in his last five and has a sneaky 17 goals on the season (22% shooting as well).
The Stack: LAK1 (Kopitar/Kempe/Fiala)
Should be popular facing the not-good Blue Jackets. After a prolonged slump, the Kings are slowly righting the ship, having won their past three games. Columbus can’t stop the puck (3.70 goals allowed average, second worst in the league), so the Kings should have ample opportunity. Mix in Fiala and Arvidsson as secondary pieces. Upside is good when combined with their prices.
