NHL Building Blocks – February 19
A full day of hockey…love it! NOTE: FanDuel has a main slate (these prices are for that) as well as an early-only slate while DraftKings has a full day-long slate (prices for that included here). Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – February 19
The Goalie: Adin Hill ($8400 DK / $8200 FD)
Should easily be the chalk goalie on the slate facing the Sharks. He’s one of the best goalies in the league this season, ranking second in GAA (2.06) and first in save percentage (.931) to go along with a 14-4-2 record).
The Center: Connor McDavid ($9800 DK/ $10100 FD)
League’s best player in a plus matchup; 81 points in 49 games and 13 assists in his L5. Paired with Draisaitl again on even strength as well.
The Wing: Nikita Kucherov ($9700 DK/ $10200 FD)
League’s leading scorer (94 points in just 55 games) against one of the worst defenses in the league…yes, please. Four goals and four assists in L5.
The Defenseman: Victor Hedman ($6000 DK / $7100 FD)
Averaging a point per game on the season and playing his typical stud defense; four points in his last five games and in a good game environment tonight.
The Value: Teuro Teravainen ($4300 DK / $4700 FD)
No idea why he’s this cheap in this offense and in this matchup. One goal and four assists in L5.
The Stack: TB1 (Kucherov/Point/Stamkos/Hedman)
League’s top power play (30.4%) facing one of the league’s worst defenses (30th in both goals allowed average and penalty kill). Tampa Bay has won 11 of its past 15 games and is working hard to stay in the playoff race, so every win counts. These four are on L1/PP1 together; they’re too expensive to get all together, so mix and match.
