Happy Valentine’s Day!  What’s better than some hard-hitting action on the most romantic day of the year?  Let’s dive in!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines.  These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.

Starting Lineup – February 14
The Goalie:
 Connor Hellebuyck ($8500 DK / $8400 FD)
Will be the chalk goalie on the slate facing the awful Sharks.  Winnipeg has the best goals allowed average in the league at a miniscule 2.32, and Hellebuyck’s is even better (2.19).  San Jose averages just 2.08 goals per game as well.  Strong play in all formats.

The Center:  Mark Scheifele ($6100 DK/ $7700 FD)
Averaging nearly a point per game (43 points in 44 games) and in a great spot tonight.  Should be popular and for good reason.

The Wing:  Carter Verhaeghe ($7100 DK/ $8600 FD)
Second on the team in goals with 26; four points in his last five games and should be aggressive tonight.

The Defenseman:  Brandon Montour ($5000 DK / $4800 FD)
Always good upside with his correlation and with his ability, even if it’s a down year for him.  Good spot tonight in what should be a competitive game.

The Value:  Marcus Pettersson ($3400 DK / $4400 FD)
Moved up to L1 to pair with Letang (and skate with Crosby/Guentzel); also kills penalties, which against the Panthers and their decent offense could be needed.

The Stack: WPG1 (Scheifele/Connor/Ehlers/Morrissey)
Best matchup on paper, so decide if you’re eating the chalk or fading.  Sharks are continually the worst team in the league (league-worst 3.82 goals allowed per game and second-worst 73% penalty kill).  Can also play the second line (Monahan/Perfetti/Vilardi) for alternative exposure to this game environment.

The Builder: none
