NHL Building Blocks – January 29
Showdown tonight. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – January 29
The Goalie: Juuse Saros ($9600 DK)
It’s hard to trust Saros (19-18-1 / 2.91 / .904) as even though he’s got great upside, he’s also extremely volatile. However, in a showdown, you can justify anything. Ottawa has a decent offense (11th in the league with a 3.33 goals per game average to go along with a 16% power play), while the Preds are middle of the road defensively. However, he’s been better as of late, giving up only 11 goals in his past five starts.
The Center: Tim Stuetzle ($9000 DK/ $13500 FD)
Leading the team in scoring with 51 points in 47 games; seven points in his last four games and playing extremely well.
The Wing: Filip Forsberg ($10400 DK/ $15500 FD)
Volume shooter (195 shots in 49 games) and a strong scorer (23 goals and 50 total points); will look to be aggressive tonight.
The Defenseman: Roman Josi ($9400 DK / $14000 FD)
Should be active on both sides of the ice against a solid Senators team, and always has one of the best floor/ceiling combos of any defenseman; 42 points, 159 shots, and 88 blocks in 49 games.
The Value: Shane Pinto ($6400 DK / $7500 FD)
Centering PP1 and cheap. Two points in four games since coming back from suspension (gambling).
The Stack: NSH1 (Forsberg/O’Reilly/Nyquist/Josi)
Possibly the highest upside on paper as the Senators’ defense isn’t terribly good, and the Predators like to shoot a lot. Josi has the best floor.
The Builder: none
