NHL Building Blocks – January 28
Great slate tonight with 10 games in all. Let’s dive in!
The premise of each article in this series is to feature starting spots (building blocks) for your lines. These are plays that are cash-viable as well as GPP-worthy and can be considered in all contest formats.
Starting Lineup – January 28
The Goalie: Jordan Binnington ($7500 DK / $7800 FD)
Like this spot for him and the Blues; they’ve won four games in a row and he’s won six of his past eight. Additionally, the Kings are slumping, losing 13 of their past 15 games. This is one of the better seasons in his career, and he’s always a viable GPP option.
The Center: Robert Thomas ($6400 DK/ $8100 FD)
Leading the team in scoring with 51 points in 47 games; seven points in his last four games and playing extremely well.
The Wing: Jared McCann ($5900 DK/ $6900 FD)
Five-game points streak (three goals and four assists); leads the team with 19 goals and should have ample opportunity tonight. (Listed as center on DK.)
The Defenseman: Colton Parayko ($5600 DK / $5900 FD)
Extremely solid floor; in 47 games, just 17 points, but 93 shots and 124 blocks in just under 24 minutes of ice time in all three situations. Two assists, five shots, and 18 blocks in his past five games (14 blocks alone in the past three).
The Value: Tomas Tatar ($3900 DK / $3800 FD)
Has good upside and has played well since coming over to Seattle; two goals and an assist in his past three and is on L1/PP1 for cheap.
The Stack: STL1 (Thomas/Buchnevich/Kyrou)
Blues have a decent matchup tonight here at home. This trio has been together most of the season and has developed some good chemistry (they skate on the power play as well; Thomas and Buchnevich are PK1 as well), and against a slumping Kings’ defense, they should be able to have some good chances.
The Builder: none
