NHL 2023 1/13/24 Snipes and Grinders!

Correlated Snipe #1 – Clayton Keller – Nick Schmaltz

Arizona is in Minnesota who is playing in their second game of a back to back. The Wild stink this year, and Kaprizov is dead. The Yotes should see Jesper Wallstedt in this game, who will be making his 2nd ever start in the NHL after getting shelled in his NHL debut. Arizona is a risky stack that nobody will have, but they are my risky stack that I will have. They are a cheap way to jam other good players into your lineup. Keller and Schmaltz have been good NHLer’s for a while now.
Correlated Snipe #2 – Nikita Kucherov – Steven Stamkos – Brayden Point
The Lightning are a pricey way to stack a lineup; but when the spot is too juicy, why not try to win a tournament? The Lightning are fighting for their playoff lives every game they play. Simple as that. Kucherov is also chasing an MVP (Hart Trophy), which plays a factor in DFS. That matters to these players. Also take into account that the Ducks are absolutely abysmal, and that the Lightning are at home. This is a very simple analysis, and I don’t regret it. Sometimes simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication. Jam the Lightning, and either win a ton or lose. We are here to win tournaments.

Correlated Snipe #3 – Mark Scheifele – Gabriel Vilardi – Nikolaj Ehlers
The Jets are at home, and against a Philly team that is traveling all the way to Winnipeg on the second game of a back to back in which they went to overtime. The Jets’ top line has some good talent, and correlates on the PP1 as well. If the Jets can stay afloat while Kyle Connor recovers from that knee injury, then they will be a playoff team. As of right now they’re fighting for the central division title, as well as the President’s Trophy. I think Vilardi and Ehlers can fill those gaps well here, and have that upside we’re looking for. Vilardi has been an absolute force, and Ehlers has been a very under-rated playmaker for a while. Josh Morrissey is always viable in Jets stacks, as he is the glue that holds this team together.
Grinder #1 – Dylan Guenther – Dylan Guenther is getting an opportunity, and he is using that opportunity to shoot that puck. He is a shooter and a goal-scorer, that is how he was scouted too.
Grinder #2 – Jonathan Drouin – He has a low floor, but a high ceiling. Any player that is glued to Mackinnon and Rantanen on the top line and powerplay unit has a high ceiling.
