Zero to Hero:  Dominating the NHL Season with Smart Bets – December 4

Dashing on the ice in a two-on-one puck race…skating to and fro, scoring all the way. HA HA HA.

The premise of each article in this series is to feature a few “safe” foundational plays to build some strong cash lines around as well as to offer any props or straight bets that have some solid potential.  We’re looking for players and teams that have a solid floor and are in a good spot matchup-wise; these will be the building blocks of a booming bankroll.  (Yeah, I alliterized…deal with it.)  I will also provide a recap from the day before and rewind to see if we were on the right plays.  Keep in mind that just like a regular season, the building of a solid bankroll is a grind – it requires patience, mental fortitude, and discipline to weather the cold streaks until things turn around and you go on a heater.

Recap from 12/3
Player builder:  Jeremy Swayman (win; 25 saves on 26 shots) ✅
Stack builder:  NYR PP1 (four goals and six assists) ✅
Bet builder:  NYR/BOS ML ✅
Builder Record: 23-20; +2.95 units

THE BUILDER – DECEMBER 4
The Player Builder
:  Sidney Crosby ($7800 DK / $9000 FD)
Will be cheaper than a few of the other studs on the slate, but with just as high of an upside in this matchup.  14 goals and 25 points in 23 games; should step up tonight against the Flyers.

The Stack Builder:  PIT1 (Crosby-Guentzel-Rust)
The Pens should be motivated in this one.  They haven’t broken out a ton like they have hoped, but they are averaging the third most shots per game in the league and they have a lot of upside.  Philly is good overall defensively and beat the Penguins last game in a shootout, so I want a little of a high-upside offense against a relatively pedestrian defense.  These three are together on L1/PP1; mix in Malkin and Eriksson for PP/secondary exposure.

The Bet Builder: PIT/VGK ML (found around +140)
Pittsburgh ML (facing the Flyers ) can be found around -140.

Vegas ML (facing the Blues) can be found around -215.

Oct 28, 2023; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA; Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ryan Graves (27) and right wing Bryan Rust (17) and left wing Jake Guentzel (59) celebrates a goal by center Sidney Crosby (right center) against the Ottawa Senators during the second period at PPG Paints Arena.
