Zero to Hero:  Dominating the NHL Season with Smart Bets – December 23

The last slate before Christmas.  Hope you have a merry one!!!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature a few “safe” foundational plays to build some strong cash lines around as well as to offer any props or straight bets that have some solid potential.  We’re looking for players and teams that have a solid floor and are in a good spot matchup-wise; these will be the building blocks of a booming bankroll.  (Yeah, I alliterized…deal with it.)  I will also provide a recap from the day before and rewind to see if we were on the right plays.  Keep in mind that just like a regular season, the building of a solid bankroll is a grind – it requires patience, mental fortitude, and discipline to weather the cold streaks until things turn around and you go on a heater.

Recap from 12/22

THE BUILDER – DECEMBER 23
The Player Builder
:  Auston Matthews ($10000 DK / $10400 FD)
10 goals and three assists during his current six-game points streak and has taken over the league lead in goals with 26, and in another great matchup tonight.

The Stack Builder: VAN PP1 (Miller/Boeser/Pettersson/Hughes/Hronek)
Hard to argue with this line as the Canucks have the best goals per game average (3.74) in the league and, with the exception of Hronek, all of these average well over a point per game, including Miller (third in the league) and Hughes (tied for seventh).  The Canucks also possess a 24.2% power play, while the Sharks are still the Sharks, ranking 29th in penalty kill (72.8%) and dead last in goals allowed per game at 3.94.  You can mix and match as Miller/Boeser are L2 and the others are L1.

The Bet Builder:  COL/VAN ML (found around -115)
Avalanche ML (facing the Coyotes) can be found around -235.

Canucks ML (facing the Sharks) can be found around -335.

Vancouver Canucks left wing Andrei Kuzmenko celebrates with centre Elias Pettersson and right wing Brock Boeser during the first period against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center at San Jose. The Canucks won 10-1 on Nov. 2, 2023.
