Zero to Hero: Dominating the NHL Season with Smart Bets – December 19
O hockey night…the stars are greatly scoring…
The premise of each article in this series is to feature a few “safe” foundational plays to build some strong cash lines around as well as to offer any props or straight bets that have some solid potential. We’re looking for players and teams that have a solid floor and are in a good spot matchup-wise; these will be the building blocks of a booming bankroll. (Yeah, I alliterized…deal with it.) I will also provide a recap from the day before and rewind to see if we were on the right plays. Keep in mind that just like a regular season, the building of a solid bankroll is a grind – it requires patience, mental fortitude, and discipline to weather the cold streaks until things turn around and you go on a heater.

THE BUILDER – DECEMBER 19
The Player Builder: Nathan Mackinnon ($9800 DK / $10200 FD)
A 15-game points streak (eight goals and 19 assists) has seen him move up to second in the league in scoring, and he gets a great matchup tonight against the hapless Blackhawks.
The Stack Builder: EDM PP1 (McDavid/Draisaitl/Hyman/Nugent-Hopkins/Bouchard)
Should be a popular offense tonight as they face the Islanders who are below average at stopping the puck and who have the league’s worst penalty kill (70.8%). The Oilers, conversely, are eighth in goals per game and fourth in power play. Mix in Draisaitl and Bouchard for secondary pieces (they are L2 together but correlate on PP1; the others are separate on L1, so you can mix and match).
The Bet Builder: COL/LAK ML (found around -110)
Avalanche ML (facing the Blackhawks) can be found around -270.
Kings ML (facing the Sharks) can be found around -270.
