Zero to Hero:  Dominating the NHL Season with Smart Bets – October 26

Hi, all.  The season is two full weeks old…and it feels good!

The premise of each article in this series is to feature a few “safe” foundational plays to build some strong cash lines around as well as to offer any props or straight bets that have some solid potential.  We’re looking for players and teams that have a solid floor and are in a good spot matchup-wise; these will be the building blocks of a booming bankroll.  (Yeah, I alliterized…deal with it.)  I will also provide a recap from the day before and rewind to see if we were on the right plays.  Keep in mind that just like a regular season, the building of a solid bankroll is a grind – it requires patience, mental fortitude, and discipline to weather the cold streaks until things turn around and you go on a heater.

Recap from 10/24
Player builder: David Pastrnak (no goals on three shots) ❌
Stack builder: NJ PP1 (two goals and three assists on the power play; overall, four goals and five assists from these players) ✅
Bet builder: BOS/FLA ML ✅

THE BUILDER – OCTOBER 26
The Player Builder
:  Nikita Kucherov ($8400 DK / $9700 FD)
Any time you can get a player of Kucherov’s caliber at a discount, you have to consider him.  Six goals and four assists in seven games, and I see no reason why he can’t keep up the production tonight.  The Lightning haven’t been lighting the world on fire offensively (3.3 goals per game), but Kucherov is continuing to be his all-world self, and the Bolts get a prime matchup tonight against the Sharks.

The Stack Builder:  NYR PP1 (Zibanejad/Kreider/Panarin/Trocheck/Fox)
The Rangers are talented, but they haven’t quite put things together yet offensively overall comparable to their talent, only averaging three goals per game thus far.  The strength of the Rangers’ offense lies in its power play, having converted at a strong 30% rate, with Kreider (three power play goals) and Fox (one) leading this line in production.  The Oilers’ defense is not that good overall, and its penalty kill finds itself giving up four chances per game and only succeeding at a low 75% rate.  This game has a chance to be a good environment for goal scoring, especially considering the Oilers’ offense, so I want some sizable exposure to this grouping.  Really like this spot tonight.

The Bet Builder: Bruins ML / TB ML parlay (found around -145)
The Bruins have only allowed a total of seven goals in six games.  The Ducks are scoring less than two and a half goals per contest; and if the Ducks (who are only shooting 28 times per game) manage to get the man advantage, they’re converting them at a horrible 5.3% rate, further speaking to the strength of Boston as a whole.  This line can be found around -350.

The Lightning are in a similarly good spot tonight.  The Sharks are giving up just under four goals per game on an average of just over 38 shots per.  Eight of the team’s 23 total goals have come with the man advantage.  They are in a great position tonight as the Sharks also has a lackluster 73.9% penalty kill, which is prime for this line and this offense to really burst out and showcase its talent.  This line can be found around -330.
