Bills receiver Stefon Diggs scores on this 55-yard pass from Josh Allen. Diggs caught six pass for 120-yards and three touchdowns in a 48-20 Buffalo win over the Dolphins.
Every now and then, the game environment of the week seems so obvious that sharp DFS players start looking for ways to fade it in an attempt to leverage the field. These games rarely live up to the hype, right? How do I get a piece of this game without eating the chalky stacks? This looks to be precisely what happened as 7 other Quarterbacks were higher owned than Josh Allen and 9 other Quarterbacks were higher owned than Tua.
Fortunately for Michaelt0717, Josh Allen was the highest scoring QB on the slate – and surprisingly a contrarian play. Allen combined for almost 80 points with his stacking partner to take down the Week 4 Milly Maker contest on DraftKings.
| Week 4 | Points |
| Josh Allen | 39.5 |
| Christian Mccaffrey | 51.7 |
| Khalil Herbert | 25.2 |
| Stefon Diggs | 39 |
| Nico Collins | 38.8 |
| Adam Thielen | 15.2 |
| Pat Freiermuth | 3.7 |
| Michael Wilson | 26.6 |
| Chargers DST | 14 |
| Total | 253.7 |
Stacking
Once again, the winning Mily Maker build did not have a QB + 2 despite a team scoring 48 points and a 68-point game total. Furthermore, there was no bring back which is further evidence that we really shouldn’t be forcing bring backs – especially when the bring back options are expensive and paired with an expensive stack like Josh Allen to Stefon Diggs. This Allen + Diggs stack absolutely knocked it out of the park and was combined with another high scoring stack from another game. (secondary stack)
Team Stack
Josh Allen 39.5 FPTS + Stefon Diggs 39 FPTS = 78.5 FPTS
Game Stack
Christian Mccaffrey 51.7 FPTS + Michael Wilson 26.6 FPTS = 78.3 FPTS
Total Stacking FPTS: 156.80
Total Stacking Ownership: 44.30%

$1,000,000 Milly Maker Ownership
| Week 4 | Ownership |
| Josh Allen | 6.07% |
| Christian McAffrey | 25.41% |
| Khalil Herbert | 3.27% |
| Stefon Diggs | 12.57% |
| Nico Collins | 6.74% |
| Adam Thielen | 29.29% |
| Pat Freiermuth | 14.66% |
| Michael Wilson | 0.25% |
| Chargers DST | 6.24% |
| Total | 104.50% |
This lineup ate some great chalk with Thielen and certainly CMC but got different in the stack and in several key spots to keep it a contrarian 104% total team ownership. One of the biggest mistakes I think DFS players make is thinking in terms of individual player ownership and not the total cumulative ownership. Yes, you can eat all that good chalk there and get different here. Focus more on lineups, not players, in regard to chalk.
Top Leverage Plays
Josh Allen at 6%
As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, this ownership is crazy given the talent and game environment. How did the field get it this wrong? I think the field has gotten so sharp that sometimes we overthink it. We think that everyone will flock to this game environment so, “Maybe fade the stacks and just play pieces of it.” Well, when you’re trying to zig while the field zags, but we all zig the same way, sometimes you just have to zag.
Khalil Herbert at 3%
Absolutely outstanding matchup after the Broncos had given up 8 touchdowns to RB’s the week before. The only concern here was the timeshare with Johnson. Luckily in large field GPP’s, that kind of concern goes out the window and Herbert was the man to play here at incredible leverage and a dirt cheap $4700 price tag.
Nico Collins at 6%
Recency bias had Tank Dell as the man to play here with Nico coming off a 3 target game in week 3. Cue that Stud coming off of a Dud narrative as Nico showed he’s still the number one man in Houston.
Michael Wilson at .25%
I’m not sure anyone saw this coming and thus only .25% of the field playing Wilson. After 9 targets in 3 games, he caught 7 of 7 in this one for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns. For what it’s worth, adding one secondary stack is what we see take down most Milly Makers and why not a cheap opposing player to stack with $9200 CMC? I think the lesson here is the huge game spread meant San Fran would probably be up a lot and Arizona would be producing garbage time fantasy points as they play from behind.
Pricing and Value from the Milly Maker Contest
| Week 4 | Pricing | FPTS per Dollar |
| Josh Allen | $8,200 | 4.81X |
| Christian Mccaffrey | $9,200 | 5.61X |
| Khalil Herbert | $4,700 | 5.36X |
| Stefon Diggs | $8,100 | 4.81X |
| Nico Collins | $5,100 | 7.60X |
| Adam Thielen | $4,500 | 3.37X |
| Pat Freiermuth | $3,400 | 1.08X |
| Michael Wilson | $3,500 | 7.6X |
| Chargers DST | $3,100 | 4.51X |
| Total | $49,800 | 5.09X |
What jumps off the page here is seeing Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Christian Mccaffrey in the same lineup as they take $25,500 of the salary. These three players combined for over the half the $50,000 salary. Furthermore, this lineup was $200 shy of using all of the salary; This makes 4 weeks in a row that the winning build didn’t use all $50,000. Normally these kinds of lineups with 3 players above $8,000 very rarely win large field GPP’s because they require ceiling game performances from all 3 players and punts at 4-5 other spots to do so. CMC’s 5.61X of his salary was the difference maker as both Diggs and Allen hit 4.81X as well. Lastly, this lineup had 2 players over 7X and they were the punts this lineup needed to produce over 5X the salary and win the Week 4 Millionaire Maker on DraftKings.
Ceiling
After a rough first 2 weeks of winning Milly Maker builds averaging under 235 points, we have back-to-back weeks of over 250 points and a season-to-date total of 251.43 points. Even with a high average of 250 points, we only have one week out of 4 with a QB + 2 Stack getting there; For the longest time, these higher scoring slates correlated with QB + 2 Pass Catchers.
As it sits today, the QB + 1 Pass Catcher is winning out and this can probably be contributed to salary of the players stacked and rushing touchdowns – that obviously doesn’t correlate with a pass catcher.
Evidence of this is Allen rushing for 1 Touchdown instead of throwing for all 5. If 3 go to Diggs and 2 to Gabe Davis, we’re probably talking about Gabe Davis being in the winning build as well for the QB + 2.
Whie the QB + 1 and QB + 2 debate is likely to carry on, one thing is constant in winning 2023 Milly Maker Builds, One secondary stack.
