We’ll start the slate with the Sixers who will be without a main piece of their rotation in James Harden who reportedly returned to the team but is going to miss the first couple of games. They did get Kelly Oubre Jr. in free agency, but the rest of the team is what we’ve come to know. I would expect either Oubre or De’Anthony Melton will start in his place, I’ll operate under the assumption that it’s Melton since we have a sample size with him. Below is how this team operated with Harden off of the court last season:

Maxey and Embiid are going to look like the best raw options here as I would expect them to carry the load on offense. Giannis and Embiid have had some serious battles over the past few years. Over his last six games, Embiid is averaging 52.2 FanDuel points per game against the Bucks. Melton and Harris make for solid options as well at their price tags. I’ll have interest in Oubre off of the bench as well, he’s always been a good per-minute producer. Lastly, PJ Tucker is a fine punt option on a short slate, they’ll need his defense and will play a bunch of minutes, but don’t expect it to be efficient. Then we get to MY Milwaukee Bucks who have a new-look team after trading for Damian Lillard a few weeks back. Dame being in there should help space the floor a bit more than Jrue Holiday was able to do, so look for there to be more open shots for everyone in this offense and help make Giannis Antetokounmpo’s life easier. The price tag on Giannis is probably as cheap as we’ll see this season and as I mentioned with Embiid, these two have had some battles in their career. Giannis is averaging 63 DraftKings points per game in his last seven games against the Sixers. Lillard is bound to take a usage and production hit from what we’re used to seeing from him now that he has to share the ball with guys like Giannis and Middleton, but that’s baked into his price tag. I would think we see a role for him very similar to what we see from Jamal Murray in Denver. Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez both look like strong options as well, if defenses are worried about Giannis and Dame guess who’s going to be wide open? Then guys like Bobby Portis and Malik Beasley are fine GPP flyer options, we saw both guys have some big preseason games. Someone sneaky to keep an eye on is Marjon Beauchamp… he’s the second-year man that they’ll need minutes from and need him to take a leap this season, I like him as a dart throw in tournaments on a short-slate.

5-star play: Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Giannis Antetokounmpo

4-star play: Tobias Harris, De’Anthony Melton, Kelly Oubre, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez

Deeper Value: PJ Tucker, Jae Crowder, Marjon Beauchamp

GPP Sleeper: Patrick Beverley, Pat Connaughton, Jae Crowder, Marjon Beauchamp

Phoenix Suns @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 225.5

Starting with the Suns, they’ll be without Bradley Beal again in this one after missing the opener as well. I was higher on Jusuf Nurkic than the field was on Tuesday and it ended up working well, he’s an elite per-minute producer and someone that I think has a nice bounceback season on this team. I have no issue going right back to him here, he played 28 minutes in the opener against the Warriors, but they’ll need his size even more against this big Lakers’ frontcourt. Devin Booker had a big night in the opener and could just scorch Earth this season, who knows, but it certainly started that way, he’s a great option yet again. Kevin Durant looked… old? I know it’s the opener but he struggled from the field, by no means am I saying he’s washed, but he just looked off on Tuesday night. I have no issue with either Booker or Durant in this one again. Josh Okogie was their fiery role player and would expect him to continue to start and would be someone I like again in this one. Eric Gordon saw 32 minutes while starter Grayson Allen saw just 21 minutes… I think they’re just going to play the hot-hand between these guys and the hot-hand certainly wasn’t Grayson on Tuesday night. They’re priced in a similar range and Gordon will likely draw more ownership due to that game on Tuesday, so Grayson makes for a nice leverage piece in tournaments. Then from the Lakers, boy did they struggle in the second half against the Nuggets but get a better matchup here against a worse defense team. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both struggled in that game but are going to be two of the top raw options on the slate. I’m going to continue to get exposure to Austin Reaves, his price went down for whatever reason, he just fits so well with two starts. D’Angelo Russell certainly did not pass the eye test but played big minutes due to the quick foul trouble that Gabe Vincent kept getting himself in. Taurean Prince had a big game and will continue to start at the wing making for a nice value option. I do like Rui Hachimura again here as well, much more on this slate now that his price tag has come way down.

5-star play: Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, LeBron James, Anthony Davis

4-star play: Jusuf Nurkic, Josh Okogie, Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Taurean Prince

Deeper Value: Drew Eubanks, Rui Hachimura

GPP Sleeper: Grayson Allen, Eric Gordon, Drew Eubanks, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Christian Wood
