Quarterbacks to Stream – Week 4 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the quarterbacks to stream this week. The quarterbacks to stream on this list are normally available in 40-percent of leagues.

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) hands the ball off to Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon (28) in the first quarter during a Week 1 NFL preseason game between the Green Bay Packers and the Cincinnati Bengals,Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

Jordan Love (GB) vs Detroit Lions

Available in 53% of ESPN Leagues

You have to hand it to the kid, down 17-0 he and the Packers showed a ton of grit to carve out a one-point win versus the Saints.

Love leads the NFL in Passing Touchdowns (7) and Fantasy Points Per Dropback, he is second in Fantasy Points Per Game, third in Air Yards Per Attempt, and sports the top Protection Rate in the NFL. Love is doing all this without his best receiver, Christian Watson (GB), and without Aaron Jones (GB), who missed the last two games. Both skill players could play on Thursday and that only boosts Love’s fantasy stock.

Love’s opponent is the Detroit Lions, who have seen volatile results against fantasy quarterbacks. In Week 1 and 2, Detroit allowed back-to-back top-eight performances. Then in Week 3 the Lions held Desmond Ridder (ATL) to 6.3-fantasy points. Overall, Detroit has allowed 16.3-FPPG to the quarterback position.

This game projects to be close with moderate scoring. Love has scored a lot of touchdowns to justify his fantasy finish through three games and Week 4 is worth chasing. As a bonus, Week 5 is against the Las Vegas Raiders who are allowing 19.4-FPPG to quarterbacks.

Andy Dalton (CAR) vs Minnesota Vikings

Available in 99% of ESPN Leagues

34-for-58 for 361 passing yards, two touchdowns and zero turnovers was the Red Rocket’s Week 3 stat-line in Seattle. Not many expected the Panthers to squeeze out a win in this spot and although they failed to do so, Dalton did not slow Carolina down.

Dalton and Co. will welcome the fantasy bonanza kings into town, the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have allowed 23.5-FPPG to opposing quarterbacks and on average they allow four-fantasy points above expectation to the position; both metrics are some of the worst in the NFL. This trend goes back to last season where Minnesota allowed 18.1-FPPG to quarterbacks which was seventh worst in the NFL.

With a close 3.5-point spread and a solid over-under of 45 points, this game could easily hit the over and produce fantasy goodness. The former TCU product is a solid start for SFLX/2QB leagues and a formidable streaming target for single-QB leagues.

C.J. Stroud (HOU) vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Available in 89% of ESPN Leagues

The rookie has performed well for fantasy in 2023, especially the last two weeks where he finished as the QB13 and QB11 respectively. But where things get interesting for Stroud is within his metrics. He is third in Passing Attempts, fourth in Team Pace of Play, fourth in Passing Yards, and fourth in Air Yards; plus Stroud is getting great protection from his offensive line. The weapons around Stroud seem to be developing too. Tank Dell (HOU) had a ceiling game in Week 3 and Nico Collins (HOU) has elevated himself this season as well.

The Steelers are tough against fantasy quarterbacks and only allow 15.4-FPPG. The bottom line is the Texans do not mind throwing the football when down and we have seen Stroud with 40-plus pass attempts in two games already.

Stroud’s floor should be good enough to get managers there, the ceiling game has yet to be seen and is unlikely this week. Managers will likely need a Texans’ skill player to break free for a long touchdown if Stroud wants to surpass 20-fantasy points.

The rookie is the lowest streaming option on this list for a reason. Choose the two quarterbacks above if possible.
