Defenses to Stream – Week 3 NFL Fantasy Football

DFS Army’s Gthom goes over the defenses to stream this week. The defenses to stream listed below are normally found in at least 40-percent of leagues (prior to waivers).

Follow Gthom on the cesspool they call twitter, @GarettThomas.

Patriots D/ST @ New York Jets

Available in 53% of Sleeper Leagues

The Jets will be a team to pick on for fantasy managers looking to stream defenses. With quarterback Zach Wilson (NYJ) at the helm the trend of turnovers and fantasy scoring for opposing defenses will continue.

Through two weeks the Jets have allowed five turnovers in two games. That turnover count is the second worst in the NFL. In addition to turning the ball over the Jets have also given up six sacks on the season which is one of the league’s most.

For the New England side they have played a tough opening series of games but have not killed managers who have relied on them. They played the Eagles in Week 1 and then the Dolphins in Week 2. In those two games the Patriots scored seven and five fantasy points respectively, and they logged at least one sack and one turnover in each. New England can also score via special teams, as we saw against the Dolphins.

The opportunity against the Jets presents a much softer matchup for the Patriots D/ST compared to recent weeks and they should take advantage Zach Wilson’s (NYJ) mistake-prone traits.

Chiefs D/ST vs Chicago Bears

Available in 79% of Sleeper Leagues

Facing Chicago presents an interesting streaming opportunity for the Chiefs in Week 2.

The Bears continue their 2022 trend of allowing sacks at a high-rate. They were the fourth-worst team for sacks allowed a season ago and in 2023, they have already seen their quarterback go down 10 times. In addition, they are tied for the third-most turnovers in 2023 which is also a carry-over from 2022 where they had 25 turnovers.

The Chiefs defense has played extremely well this season. Even though they could only log five fantasy points against the Lions, they held their offense to 15 points. In Week 2 they held a strong Jacksonville team to nine points and the Chiefs D/ST scored 11 fantasy points after logging four sacks and one fumble recovery.

This is a game environment that may backfire for fantasy defenses but with the Bears allowing sacks and takeaways, the Chiefs should finish with a top-12 performance.

Browns D/ST vs Tennessee Titans

Available in 60% of Sleeper Leagues

Despite losing a tough Monday Night Football game to their rivals from Pittsburgh, the Browns defense played well. They limited the Steelers to 255 yards and 14 offensive points. The Browns also logged two sacks and finished with a pair of takeaways in Week 2.

The Tennessee Titans have provided quality opportunities for opposing defenses through two games. They have committed three turnovers and have allowed the sixth-most sacks as well. In 2022 the Titans surrendered the sixth-most sacks with 49, showing their 2023 performance is a continuation of last year’s trend.

Both teams don’t mind slowing the game down and that projects in the over-under which is 41, the second lowest on the week. Have confidence in the Browns’ defense in Week 3.
