Well, LeBron James is truly The King now. Last night, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 regular season NBA career points record to claim the throne.
In a crowd filled with family, former teammates, celebrities and anyone ever having anything to do with LeBron’s career, King James dropped 20 points in the first half alone. Then, in the third quarter as Oklahoma City tried to pull off a comeback on the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron pulled back and broke the record with a common sight…a mid-range fadeaway jump shot.

The game stopped, and the NBA world paused to appreciate the moment. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was on hand to shake hands and congratulate the new all-time scoring leader in the NBA from the very court playing witness to so many of Kareem’s own points and sky hooks.

If you watched last night, you may have witnesses a record you will never see broken again. The King might be the king for a long, long time….if not, forever. Long live The King.
