Philadelphia 76ers @ New York Knicks

Vegas Total: 225.5

Vegas Spread: Phi -4.0

We’ll kick this slate off by starting with the Sixers, Joel Embiid comes in questionable again here after playing last time out with that same questionable tag, I’ll assume he plays due to that again here. He’s looked good enough over his last few to be a nice option again in a great matchup in this one. He should be able to do whatever he wants against the combination of Jericho Sims and Isaiah Hartenstein down low. James Harden came down to Earth last time out but is another guy that I would have no issue going back to in this one. He scored 67 DraftKings points in this matchup earlier this season. Then guys like De’Anthony Melton, Tobias Harris, and Tyrese Maxey will all be GPP guys to round out the team. It’s hard to prioritize any of them when Embiid and Harden are both in there dominating the usage and looks. . From the Knicks, Jalen Brunson returned last night to have a massive game against the Clippers, he has at least 52 DraftKings points in back to back games and will look like a solid option even at an elevated price tag. Julius Randle has been good as well and we know he’s going to play all the minutes he can handle. The same can be said for RJ Barrett and his SF eligibility will increase his ownership simply due to how much of a wasteland that position has been as of late. Then I would imagine we continue to see Jericho Sims start in place of Mitchell Robinson while Isaiah Hartenstein has been the better producer over the last few games. The minutes are trending up for Hartenstein and it wouldn’t surprise me if they rode the hot hand again with him here.

5-star play: Joel Embiid, Julius Randle

4-star play: James Harden, Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, Isaiah Hartenstein

Deeper Value: Isaiah Hartenstein

GPP Sleeper: De’Anthony Melton, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, Jericho Sims, Isaiah Hartenstein, Immanuel Quickley

Toronto Raptors @ Memphis Grizzlies

Vegas Total: 231.0

Vegas Spread: Mem -3.5

Starting with the Raptors, OG Anunoby will continue to be out which means we should see Precious Achiuwa right back in the starting lineup. Achiuwa has been great in his place and is averaging 32.4 DraftKings points per game over his last six games and will be a guy I go right back to in this one. Meanwhile, Pascal Siakam continues to struggle relative to his price tag even with playing massive minutes. That said, this is a great spot for him to bounce back in so I think he looks like a nice option here especially if people are going to be afraid of those game logs. Fred VanVleet continues to play great and they get a nice pace-up spot here for him. Scottie Barnes has been extremely consistent as of late as well and looks like a nice secondary option even after a down game last time out. Then Gary Trent Jr. will continue to play big minutes as well but feels like he’s priced right about where he should be, so more of a tournament guy. I do also think Chris Boucher is interesting off the bench, he’s played at least 20 minutes in three straight games and we know he can be a point-per-minute monster. From the Grizzlies, Steven Adams will continue to be out along with Dillon Brooks who will begin to serve his suspension after his shenanigans against Donovan Mitchell. They also have Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. coming in as questionable which muddies the water even more. I’m going to operate under the assumption that Morant and Jackson are good to go here, but obviously, keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed as we get closer to lock. We likely see John Konchar in the starting lineup for Brooks, but he’s not really a huge usage guy, so not really someone that I’m running out to play massive amounts of, but the price tag is nice if we need some value. Morant came down to Earth a bit last time out but has been in great form with at least 58 FanDuel points in two of his last three games. Desmond Bane will look better if these two sit, but will look like a fine secondary option regardless, he’s shown nice consistency as of late. Jackson can be volatile due to his foul issues, but the price tag is nice and we know the ceiling is there for him. Then I would imagine we continue to see Xavier Tillman in the starting lineup for Adams and is a guy that makes sense as a low-end center option while Brandon Clarke will soak up the bench usage.

5-star play: Fred VanVleet, Ja Morant

4-star play: Pascal Siakam, Gary Trent, Precious Achiuwa, Scottie Barnes, Jaren Jackson, Desmond Bane, Xavier Tillman

Deeper Value: John Konchar, Chris Boucher

GPP Sleeper: Chris Boucher, John Konchar, Brandon Clarke

Sacramento Kings @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total: 229.0

Vegas Spread: Sac -1.0

Starting with the Kings, they’ll be without De’Aaron Fox as he tends to some personal stuff off of the court. I would expect we see Davion Mitchell start in his place and burned pretty much everyone last slate. He’s going to look like a good value play again here if you’re able to look past that game. Otherwise, we probably do get more upside with guys like Malik Monk and Terence Davis. Below is how this team operates with Fox off of the court this season:

These would be my favorite options on the team while Monk is probably more of a tournament guy, he’s going to dominate looks and usage while he’s in there. The rates aren’t all that crazy for Davion Mitchell but he’s going to be hard to ignore at that price tag. Domantas Sabonis was a bit of a disappointment with Fox out last time, but he’s a guy I’ll go right back to the well with him this one. That group of Huerter, Murray, and Barnes are all solid secondary options in that mid-range. From the Pelicans, it sounds like they’ll be without Jonas Valanciunas in this one which opens up a starting spot in the frontcourt. I would expect we see either Willy Hernangomez or Jaxson Hayes start in his place, both guys would look like elite value options, but the starter is the one I want. Brandon Ingram kept it rolling yesterday and now has at least 44 FanDuel points in back-to-back games. CJ McCollum is in that similar group of secondary options that I don’t mind getting to, but probably not a guy I’ll be prioritizing. Then guys like Herb Jones, Larry Nance, and Trey Murphy are all solid wing options in that mid-range, all of them should benefit at least a little from Jo Val being out.

5-star play: Domantas Sabonis, Whoever starts at C for the Pels (Hayes or Hernangomez)

4-star play: Davion Mitchell, Kevin Huerter, Keegan Murray, Harrison Barnes, Malik Monk, Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum

Deeper Value: Davion Mitchell, Terence Davis, Jaxson Hayes, Willy Hernangomez

GPP Sleeper: Davion Mitchell, Kevin Huerter, Terence Davis, Herb Jones, Larry Nance, Trey Murphy

Quick shoutout to VIP member “Cenzamatic” on a massive $20k win last season! Sometimes paying up for double studs works, and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant brought it home for him with the help of some Stanley Johnson and Pistons value. Good work and congrats man!

Denver Nuggets @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Vegas Total: 233.0

Vegas Spread: Min -2.5

Starting with the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic is going to be right up there with Embiid as the top spend-up option on the slate in a great matchup. The Wolves have not been great against opposing big men this season even though they spent a king’s ransom on Rudy Gobert… Jokic will look great here. Jamal Murray has been on a heater and now has at least 43 DraftKings points in four of his last five and will look like a good option in all formats again in this one. Michael Porter Jr. had a nice bounce-back game last night and is always a guy I have an interest in for tournaments, but his volatility is hard to stomach in cash games. Then Aaron Gordon returned last night and looked solid as well, I’d have no issue going right back to the well with him. Guys like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown are secondary GPP options, although Brown may see a boost if Caldwell-Pope is unable to go here. From the Wolves, Anthony Edwards came down to Earth last time out but has been great over his last few weeks and really ever since Towns went down with an injury. The Nuggets aren’t great defensively against opposing guards and he has a 31.1% usage rate and 1.27 fantasy points per minute with Towns off of the court this season. D’Angelo Russell bounced back in a big way last time out, I have no issue going right back to the well with him as his price tag didn’t move. Rudy Gobert comes in as questionable again in this one and will look like a solid option if he’s able to play otherwise we go right back to Naz Reid as a great option in all formats. Kyle Anderson is never a sexy option, but he makes plenty of sense as a lineup filler with SF/PF eligibility. Then a guy like Jaden McDaniels would be more of a GPP dart than anything, he would see a boost if either Gobert or Anderson are forced to miss as well.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Anthony Edwards

4-star play: Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, D’Angelo Russell, Rudy Gobert

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Michael Porter Jr., Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Bruce Brown, Kyle Anderson, Jaden McDaniels

NBA Lock of the Day: Willy Hernangomez (DK – $3.0k; FD – $4.1k)

So we’ll need some news on the Pelicans before I can officially call Hernangomez the lock of the day, but I’m assuming he gets the start in place of Jonas Valanciunas who feels like he’s on the doubtful side of questionable tonight. IF Hernangomez gets the start, he’s going to look like an elite option in all formats at this price tag. He has a 23.3% usage rate and 1.26 fantasy points per minute with Jo Val and Zion off of the court this season. At this point in the day, I would think he makes my core, but check out our VIP Cheat Sheets as we get closer to lock for staff picks on Core plays, 8x locks of the day, and tiers notes as well!
