SMASH or PASS - Key Decisions for NFL DFS Strategy Picks Week 10 (FanDuel or DraftKings)

NFL DFS is about making the right decision.  Should we smash that play into our lineups or pass on it completely?  Smash or Pass Key Decisions for Fantasy Football will help you quickly see who is for real and who is just noise for the week ahead…

NFL DFS Quarterbacks

  • Justin Fields- Fields is projected to have an ownership of 14.45% this week as the Bears play the Detroit Lions. Fields and this Bears offense have been clicking on all cylinders the past couple of weeks. Last week Fields put up 45..72 points on DK, and facing a porous, downright pitiful Lions defense, Fields is a must-start. SMASH Fields this week in a game that could be high scoring and favorable for the Bears’ offense.
  • Patrick Mahomes- Do we even need to discuss why Mahomes is a must-start? No, we don’t! He’s Pat Friggin’ Mahomes, and with a projected ownership of around 14.53% and his potential to put up 30+ fantasy points every week, make this decision a no-brainer. SMASH Mahomes against Jacksonville in a game that figures to be the highest-scoring game on the slate.
  • Derek Carr- Really? Again? Why does this man keep showing up on the Chalk Board? Ok, so I see the appeal; he has Davante Adams to throw to. This week Carr’s projected ownership is 6.18% which indicates people are starting to see he But Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller are on IR, and this team is thin with viable pass catchers. Outside of Adams, who do they have? Hollins? Inconsistent and mediocre. Foster Moreau? Come on, people, open your eyes. Pass Carr who is facing a Colts team that is decent against the pass and figures to be low scoring.

NFL DFS Running Backs

  • Travis Etienne Jr.- Geek and the crew called it last week, and he went off. With ownership projected to be around 22%, let’s run it back. Don’t let the fact they are facing Kansas City scare you. This game figures to be high-scoring, and Etienne Jr. is no doubt Lawrence’s security blanket, and his volume and usage are too high to ignore. SMASH Etienne Jr. this week in a high-scoring game.
  • Dameon Pierce- Pierce is projected to be the highest-owned running back this week at almost 25%. Pierce has been the lone bright spot on this tanking Texans team. Pierce is currently questionable with a chest/rib injury which brings into question his volume of usage. Over the last three weeks, Pierce has not reached 17 fantasy points in the previous three weeks, and that does not sit well with me. The Texans face the Giants on Sunday, and while it may be tempting to start Pierce, the Giants have been good at defending the run. Pass Pierce this week, who is not entirely healthy and in a less-than-favorable matchup. We need someone who can get us more than 17 fantasy points if we want to win.

Winning Wide Receivers

  • Cooper Kupp- Kupp has put up over 20 fantasy points in his last two games and is projected as the highest-owned wide receiver this week at nearly 17% ownership. Kupp is one of the weekly must-starts in all formats, BUT Stafford is questionable and in concussion protocol. On DraftKings, there isn’t another Rams quarterback to play. Kupp is good but has become reliant on Stafford, giving him double-digit targets weekly. Smash/Pass Kupp. If Stafford is out, Pass on Kupp. If Stafford manages to play, then Smash Kupp in a high-scoring game against Arizona.
  • Tyreek Hill- Here we go again, Tua with Twoa. Hill has been money all year and at a projected ownership of 15.24%. Smash him. Miami plays Cleveland this week, and Hill, along with Waddle and Tua, will be money again. Hill scored over 30 fantasy points in back-to-back games and could easily make it three-in-a-row.
  • Jaguars Receivers- Did you realize that not one, not two, but three Jaguars receivers made the Chalk Board? Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Marvin Jones Jr. all are projected to be chalk plays. Jacksonville is playing Kansas City, who lead the NFL in scoring. But not all three can have a game worth starting. Pass on all three. The fact that there are three wide receivers from the same team on the Chalk Board lets me know no one knows who will be the one to go off this week.

NFL DFS Tight Ends

  • Greg Dulcich- Dulcich is projected as the top-owned tight end this week with an ownership of 12.24%. Dulcich has come on strong over his last three games scoring over 10 fantasy points in all three. This week, the Broncos face a Tennessee team that is horrible against the pass. Smash Dulcich is priced right and in a favorable matchup.
  • Travis Kelce- No brainer here AGAIN!!! Mahomes + Kelce= $$$. Smash Kelce this week and every other week.
  • Cole Kmet- Cole Kmet had a good game for the first time in how long, and now he is on the Chalk Board. Kmet is projected to have ownership of  5.92% this week as the Bears face the Lions. The matchup is nice, but Kmet’s performance was like Chumbawamba: a one-hit-wonder. Pass Kmet until he can prove to be a consistent fantasy contributor.

Key Defenses

  • Minnesota Vikings- Minnesota is projected to have ownership of 10.73% because there is a chance Josh Allen is out. DO NOT underestimate Case Keenum, who has the experience and a variety of weapons at his disposal. Pass Minnesota against a Bills team that is too talented, even without Josh Allen. Buffalo is so talented any quarterback could win with this roster.
  • Denver Broncos- With a projected ownership of around 8.03%, Denver faces a Titans team that relies almost exclusively on the running game or, should I say, King Henry. Denver has been good all year defensively, and while containing Henry is near impossible, they will get sacks and possibly even an interception when Tennessee is forced into passing situations. Smash Denver’s defense against the one-trick pony Titans.

NFL isn’t our only sport.  We are perhaps the most well-rounded community for fantasy sports.  We teach Joes to become Pros through a hands-on coaching approach.  NBA season just opened, and have already left our mark in the big contests there, too…
