DFS NHL is a volatile sport centering around correlation, stacking and game theory. Learning how to win cash games and tournaments requires nailing those great upside plays/stacks, grabbing obvious value, and making the proper fades that sink everyone else’s ships. Let’s look through today’s slate and identify those winning picks in “Snipes and Grinders!”
All of my plays make sense for the entire DFS industry; however, if there is an egregious discrepancy in player salary between sites, I will mention it in my briefing.
Snipe = Good Play
Grinder = Value Plays (Grinders are Valuable)

DFS NHL Slate Overview:
NHL season is here! Check out all of our industry-leading content on dfsarmy.com, and if interested feel free to DM me personally and I’ll get your journey started. Remember, our mission is a process, we grow and learn every day; figure out what our competitors are doing, identify the correct plays, and calculate the correct ways to attack each slate. Every slate is different and can be attacked in different ways. We also have great tools to work with like the domination station (optimizer), the research station, chalk boards, as well as tons of coaches readily available in our discord.
Now – onto hockey
Big slate here with some high priced options as well as some sneaky stacks. Matthews nd the Leafs are up against the Penguins, in Pittsburgh, and even with all of the superstar talent in that game, I am not going there. The 2 most popular games will probably be the Canadiens vs the Devils, followed by the Red Wings against the Ducks. Those 2 games are certainly viable, so I am not trying to discourage you guys, but just know that these young studs on these teams have crept up in salary. The 2 stacks I will write about are obviously my 2 favorites, but I also am intrigued by the Predators at home against the Wild. The Flyers also find themselves back in Columbus again for the second time in a week; and I would bet that after their loss last time, losing is not an option for John Tortarella. Their top line against the super injured Blue Jackets is a super sneaky stack that could yield high upside. There is a ton of value on the Blue Jackets side of that game with how injured they are, if you’re simply trying to fill out your lineup.
Correlated Snipe #1
Tage Thompson – Jeff Skinner – TBD
These 2 are ok as just a twosome, but if Alex Tuch becomes their line-mate then jam that man in. Rasmus Dahlin is also a super expensive defenseman that is viable in Buffalo builds. The Sabres are a much improved team this season, and Tage Thompson has looked like a man amongst boys in the NHL somehow. Oh, probably because he is 6’7 and jacked. The Sabres are at home against the absolute train-wreck that is the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks confuse me; on paper they have 3 very good forward lines, 3 good defensemen (in theory), and what I guess is an overrated goaltender in Thatcher Demko. Tage Thompson has shown slate breaking ability, and I am simply not going to sleep on that in this spot; and if he breaks the slate, then someone else is getting those assists. Choo choo the Tage train is coming baby!

Correlated Snipe #2
Jack Eichel – Chandler Stephenson -Mark Stone
The Golden Knights are the best team in the NHL with one of the best home atmospheres in the NHL and they are getting to play the poopy San Jose Sharks. Jack Eichel has also shown slate breaking abilities with the hat-trick in Buffalo, and we are always looking for that super boom in tournaments. Chandler Stephenson is currently a point per game player as well, and he should continue feasting here. Eichel and Stephenson have gained a great chemistry together, and Mark Stone is trying to catch up. When mark Stone catches up to those guys, look out! I doubt Bruce Cassidy will change the lines up with how well the team is doing, so this is the lineup I expect. Karlsson, Marchessault, Smith is also a stackable Vegas line for cheaper, but I like Eichel’s line more.

NHL Grinder Value Plays
Grinder #1
Grinder #2
Lucas Raymond – Insulting salary on DraftKings.
Grinder #3
Kirby Dach – I have no idea how he is still $4000 on Draftkings; great matchup too.
Grinder #4
Emil Bemstrom – Was leading the AHL in points before his callup to the NHL; first game vs NYI, goal! Patrik Laine is dead for 4 weeks, Bemstrom is slotting in at super cheap on the top line and I believe the top powerplay.
Good luck, I hope you all come in 2nd. 😉
