NBA DFS "Smash or Pass" - Key Picks and Fades for Fanduel or Draftkings

NBA DFS is a precise game.  One wrong move and you are often dead on arrival.  So much so, people really concentrate their lineup building around the same players, creating tons of “chalk.”  Which chalky plays should you “smash” and which should you “pass” on tonight?  Let’s find out…

NBA DFS Picks

NBA DFS Guards

  • Cameron Payne- At $4600 on DraftKings, Payne has value and is projected to have almost 50% ownership. Payne has four games over 20 fantasy points in his last five games. Cameron is averaging 9.2 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game. The Suns are 7-3 on the year as they head to Minnesota to play KAT and the Timberwolves, who are 5-6 currently. SMASH Payne; his salary is in the perfect spot, and the salary savings allow you to pay up at other positions.
  • Darius Garland- Garland’s projected ownership is 28.48%. Darius, since returning from injury, has been the Calvary this Cavs team much needed. Fellow teammate Donovan Mitchell has done a phenomenal putting Cleveland in a position to stay competitive in Garland’s absence.  Garland has provided 40.25, 38.5, and 62.75 fantasy points in his last three games and shows no signs of slowing down. Mitchell and Garland have become a formidable duo for this Cleveland team. The Cavs are 8-2 as they head to California to take on the 3-6 Sacramento Kings. SMASH Garland today and enjoy his salary while it lasts. (Darius also happens to be a “core play” for several of our NBA DFS coaches when you look at our nightly VIP Cheatsheets!)

NBA Forwards

  • Bobby Portis- Portis is projected to be the highest-owned player on the slate today at nearly 60%. Portis is averaging 32.3 fantasy points per game and has proven his fantasy value even with Giannis on the team. While Portis has been valuable in most formats, his ownership is too chalky. PASS on Portis, who is projected to have almost 60% ownership.
  • Keldon Johnson- The projected ownership of Johnson is projected right around 14%. This number seems to be a little low for a guy who has scored over 30 fantasy points in his last five games. Johnson and the Spurs are currently 5-6 as they host the 7-3 Memphis Grizzlies. Johnson is averaging 23.8 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game. SMASH Johnson, who has been playing way too well to leave on the bench.

DFS Centers

  • Myles Turner- Turner’s ownership for today is projected to be around 27%. Turner is coming off a game in which he posted 62.5 fantasy points against New Orleans. Turner has plenty of playing time which makes him more appealing, especially on this Pacers team. The Pacers play Jokic and the Nuggets today. Denver has played well all year and Jokic is a freak athlete who plays well on both ends of the court. PASS on Turner today who is facing the reigning MVP Jokic, and a Nuggets team that is playing sound basketball.

SPECIAL NBA DFS SMASH OF THE DAY!!!

  • Marcus Morris Sr.-PF- Morris is not listed on the Chalk Board but is off to a fantastic start this year. Morris is shooting a career best 48.7%  and has tallied at least 40 DK points in five of nine game and surpassed over 30 points on three times on FanDuel. Morris has a price tag of $6000 on DK and only $5300 on FanDuel. SMASH Morris who has been playing really well and is not even on the Chalk Board.
