Golden State Warriors @ Miami Heat
Vegas Total: 226.5
Vegas Spread: Mia -1.0
We’ll kick off this slate with the Warriors, Steph Curry has continued to look great this season with at least 45 DraftKings points in each game this season. He leads the team with a 31.4% usage rate and 1.53 fantasy points per minute on the year and will look like a good option here even in a below-average matchup. Klay Thompson should return in this one which will move Jordan Poole back to the bench and take away some of his minutes. I don’t think we need to chase Poole’s last couple of games at an elevated price tag due to this. Klay played 32 minutes in his last game and would be my preferred option between the two. Andrew Wiggins had his worst game of the season last time out in a blowout loss to the Pistons, I have no issue going back to him on a short slate tonight due to the consistency he’s shown this season. Then we can round this team out with Kevon Looney as a filler piece if you need a value center option. From the Heat, Jimmy Butler hasn’t been great to start the season, but he dropped nearly 60 DraftKings points on the Warriors the first time these two teams played this season. I do like the price tag as well, so I have no issue going right back to him here. Bam Adebayo has played at least 38 minutes in three of his last four games and looks like a great option again in this one. Tyler Herro has been a bit more volatile over his last few games than he showed early on in the season, that said, I have no problem going back to him again here. Kyle Lowry has been sneaky consistent with at least 30 DraftKings points in four of his last five. Then we can round this team out with Max Strus and Caleb Martin as solid secondary options.
5-star play: Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo
4-star play: Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Tyler Herro, Kyle Lowry
Deeper Value: Kevon Looney
GPP Sleeper: Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, Kevon Looney, Max Strus, Caleb Martin
Quick shoutout to VIP member “Cenzamatic” on a massive $20k win last season! Sometimes paying up for double studs works, and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant brought it home for him with the help of some Stanley Johnson and Pistons value. Good work and congrats man!
Chicago Bulls @ Brooklyn Nets
Vegas Total: 230.5
Vegas Spread: Bkn -1.0
Starting with the Bulls, we’ll need to keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed as we get closer to lock tonight as Zach LaVine, Ayo Dosumno, and Coby White come in as questionable while Andre Drummond is already ruled out. I’ll operate under the assumption that these questionable guys will play for the sake of this article. The matchup sets up really well for these main Bulls pieces, so I think we can get to LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic regardless of the status of these other guys. Both LaVine and DeRozan have a 28+% usage rate and at least 1.10 fantasy points per minute on the season while Nikola Vucevic is at a 23.9% usage rate and 1.25 fantasy points per minute. Alex Caruso will benefit if any of those guards need to miss and looks like a nice option as well. From the Nets, Ben Simmons ended up missing yesterday’s game, but I would expect he’s back in this one. He’s been fine to start the season and will be a guy I go back to in this price range, it’s just so hard finding someone with the ceiling he has in this range on a daily basis. The floor is low, but the ceiling is massive. Kyrie Irving continues to look great with at least 48 DraftKings points in three straight games and will look like a great option again here. Kevin Durant leads the team with a 33.9% usage rate and 1.35 fantasy points per minute and looks like a solid spend-up option on this slate as well. Then we can round this team out with Nicolas Claxton and Royce O’Neale as solid filler options. I will note, Claxton is going to benefit when Simmons misses as we saw last night, so I’m likely not chasing that game again unless Simmons ends up missing this one as well. Joe Harris is interesting at his price tag as well… he played a season-high in minutes last night with 29 and is clearly starting to get some restrictions lifted.
5-star play: Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving
4-star play: DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso, Ben Simmons, Royce O’Neale
Deeper Value: Joe Harris
GPP Sleeper: Ayo Dosunmo, Alex Caruso, Nicolas Claxton, Royce O’Neale, Joe Harris
Orlando Magic @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Vegas Total: 218.0
Vegas Spread: Okc -3.0
Starting with the Magic, it sounds like Jalen Suggs comes in as questionable while they’ll be without Cole Anthony for the near future with that oblique injury. I’ll operate under the assumption that Suggs misses again, but keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates on him. Paolo Banchero had a rough game last time out but it wasn’t for a lack of aggressiveness, he just shot poorly going 6-20 from the field. He has a 33.5% usage rate and 1.34 fantasy points per minute with Suggs and Anthony off of the court this season and looks great again in this spot. Assuming Suggs is out again, I would imagine Bol Bol continues to start and see around 30 minutes. He’s a great per-minute producer while he’s out there and would be a guy I go right back to in this one. Wendell Carter Jr. and Franz Wagner both make sense at their respective price tags as well, Wagner has been held down over the last two games, but he’s better than those numbers show. From the Thunder, Josh Giddey will continue to miss time meaning we can go right back to the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander well and some of these other starters. Below is how this team operates with Giddey off of the court this season:
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – 33.3% usage rate; 1.59 fpm
- Tre Mann – 24.8% usage rate; 1.04 fpm
- Lu Dort – 19.4% usage rate; 0.79 fpm
- Darius Bazley – 19% usage rate; 1.07 fpm
Gilgeous-Alexander is my favorite option on the Thunder for obvious reasons, but Mann has been playing well when given the opportunity and makes sense again in this one. Aleksej Pokusevski has seen at least 24 minutes in back-to-back games and is an interesting tournament option, as he can light it up in a hurry when the minutes are there. Bazley has been getting more run as well, as you see above he’s produced nicely when given the opportunity and is right there with Pokusevski as an interesting tournament flyer. Lastly, Jalen Williams looked great last time out playing 27 minutes on his way to 29 DraftKings points, he looks like a really nice value option on this short slate.
5-star play: Paolo Banchero, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
4-star play: Bol Bol, Wendell Carter Jr., Franz Wagner, Tre Mann, Lu Dort
Deeper Value: Darius Bazley, Aleksej Pokusevski
GPP Sleeper: RJ Hampton, Darius Bazley, Aleksej Pokusevski
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Phoenix Suns
Vegas Total: 227.5
Vegas Spread: Pho -3.5
We’ll round out the slate by starting with the Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns seems to have found his footing with at least 42 FanDuel points in four straight games and will look like a great option again in this one. It seems like it’s going to be tough for both Towns and Rudy Gobert to have a big game on a nightly basis… it’s not to say it can’t happen, but I don’t think they’re two guys that I would want to pair in the same roster construction. Anthony Edwards can be volatile, but has a massive ceiling and is always a guy I’ll have interest in especially on a short slate as we have on tap tonight. The same can be said for D’Angelo Russell who has been shooting terribly over his last couple of games going a combined 9-32 from the field over his last two. Then the only other guy I’d have interest in from this team is Jaden McDaniels who continues to see good run and makes plenty of sense here. From the Suns, Deandre Ayton will continue to miss time with that ankle injury which means we should get Bismack Biyombo starting again in this one. He had 1.02 fantasy points per minute with Ayton off of the court last season and makes plenty of sense again in this one. Jock Landale is helping fill that Ayton roll as well and has actually seen at least 22 minutes in two of his last three. That said, he’ll serve as the primary backup to Biyombo. Devin Booker leads the team with a 31.5% usage rate and 1.23 fantasy points per minute on the season and makes plenty of sense here. As does Chris Paul who has been much better as of late and makes for a nice secondary option in all formats. Then we can round this team out with Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson as solid filler options to round out your lineups.
5-star play: Devin Booker, Bismack Biyombo
4-star play: Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell, Jaden McDaniels, Chris Paul, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Jaden McDaniels, Jock Landale

NBA Lock of the Day: Jalen Williams (DK – $3.9k; FD – $4.2k)
I’m going to go a little off the board with this lock of the day just because we haven’t really played him before, but let’s get a little Jalen Williams action. He was the first-round pick for the Thunder in this year’s draft and looked great last time out in 27 minutes of action. With Josh Giddey continuing to be out he looks like a great value option on a slate that doesn’t have a ton of cheap value. I probably wouldn’t expect him to have four steals again, but the kid can obviously play and is a guy I want to get some decent exposure to tonight. At this point in the day, I would think he makes my core, but check out our VIP Cheat Sheets as we get closer to lock for staff picks on Core plays, 8x locks of the day, and tiers notes as well!
