NBA & NFL DFS Basketball Football Underdog Strategy Player Picks for 10/24/2022

Similar to NBA/NFL DFS, there are going to be player lines that stand out on every slate. One big difference is that you are betting against the house and not other users. Therefore, pick the most favorable over/unders to build the best entry.

When injury news comes out, the lines surrounding that player will remain the same for a few minutes. The best picks are the ones that come from that player’s game as these lines are likely to be too low or too high depending on which way the news breaks. These are removed quickly so it is important to stay on top of the news to get the best value picks.

Hello DFS Army! I am William and am glad to be back for another NBA season. Feel free to call me Will and you can find me @wlin018 on Twitter. These articles are written many hours before lock so the lines will change. The lines will be adjusted as people place bets or the player could be removed from the board.

Underdog NBA/NFL Plays for Tonight…

Pascal Siakam Over 4.5 ast / Fred VanVleet Over 5.5 ast

TOR @ MIA

Scottie Barnes hurt his ankle on Saturday against Miami. This will be a rematch but Barnes is questionable. It would be smart to rest Barnes this early on in the season. If Barnes is out, the Raptors will rely on Siakam and VanVleet even more especially to play make. Taking Barnes and Goran Dragic off the court last season, Siakam averaged 0.65 more assists and FVV averaged 0.30 more assists per 36 minutes. Toronto plays their starters sometimes over 40 minutes a game. The playing time is incredibly secure despite a somewhat difficult matchup. Caleb Martin was suspended for one game due to an altercation on Saturday. He is a key part of their defense which make will things a little softer especially for FVV. Max Strus is expected to pick up those minutes. He is not the same defender as Martin. If Barnes ends up playing, he probably will not be as effective. However, Siakam and FVV would still be in play.

Mitchell Robinson Over 7.5 rebs

NYK vs ORL

Mitchell Robinson got into foul trouble in the first game of the season. As a result, he only played 13 minutes. In the second game, the Knicks blew the Pistons out which cut Robinson’s minutes again. When he was on the court, the Pistons went on three runs. This left barely any rebounds for the Knicks to grab. He still finished with five including four offensive. Robinson had a 15.8% rebound rate last season. He only averaged 26 mins a game which translate to 8.6 rpg. Robinson was on pace for about 30 minutes last game. Orlando is not expected to be a great shooting team. Robinson’s line is not where it should be because it has been set based off of his first two games of the season. The Magic should be more of an inside scoring team which leads to rebounds closer to the rim. Robinson had an average rebound distance of 5.3 feet last season. Robinson is hitting this line as long as he plays his normal minutes.

Jakobi Meyers Under 10.25 fpt

NE vs CHI

The Patriots are expected to have Mac Jones back for this game. Though that will be boost their passing game, New England is also welcoming Damien Harris back to the team. Rhamondre Stevenson and Harris are a formidable RB duo that New England should be able to lean on once again tonight. This game only has a 40 total with the Patriots favored by 7.5. New England has huge advantages in passing and run blocking against Chicago. However, the Patriots are a run-first team. Meyers is not an end zone target. He relies on volume. Underdog scoring is half PPR. Meyers is projected for 4 catches and 52.5 yards. That puts him well under this 10.25 line. New England are big home favorites which signals a negative game script for Meyers.

Darnell Mooney Under 8.45 fpt

CHI @ NE

Chicago’s offense continues to underwhelm. It is not going to be any easier this week. In terms of pass blocking, the Bears have the 2nd worst pass blocking advantage this week. Chicago is also a run-first team. The game clock will be drained by both offenses which will limit the amount of plays ran. Mooney is the #1 WR for Chicago but Fields’s inconsistencies have led to a disappointing season for Mooney as well. Dante Pettis had a great game last week on Thursday night football. He could steal some targets as the slot receiver if the Bears offensive line cannot hold up. In these situations, the RB and TE also are targeted more than the outside receivers. Mooney is projected for 3 catches and 44.5 yards. Touchdowns are hard to come by for this offense. Without a TD, Mooney would have to significantly outperform both of these projections.

Just missed the cut: Cole Anthony U 6 ast
