Philadelphia 76ers @ Washington Wizards

Vegas Total: 219.5

Vegas Spread: Phi -4.5

We’ll kick off this Halloween slate with the Sixers, Joel Embiid has not looked good over his last three games and comes into this one as questionable. I’ll operate under the assumption that he plays in this one, but keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates as we get closer to lock. The injury designation is due to illness, so at least it’s not injury related. I wouldn’t have an issue with him in GPPs tonight in a great matchup with this Wizards frontcourt if you can overlook the game logs. James Harden had a poor shooting night last time out going 2-13 from the field, but I still have no issue going back to him in this one. He’s right behind Embiid on the team with a 26.7% usage rate and 1.30 fantasy points per minute on the season. Then guys like Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris are solid secondary options depending on where you land to round out your roster. They both have nice ceilings at their price tags, I don’t ever really prioritize either of them while Harden and Embiid are healthy. From the Wizards, Bradley Beal came back to Earth last time out but the minutes have been massive. I don’t love the matchup, but I wouldn’t have an issue with landing on whatever type of exposure I get to on Beal. I was all over Kristaps Porzingis has been very consistent as of late and they’ll need his minutes against Embiid down low which raises his floor/ceiling. He’s a nice option in tournaments at the very least. Kyle Kuzma has been sneaky good for the Wizards this season with at least 34 DraftKings poitns in three of his last five, but he’s priced right where he should be and is more of a secondary option. Then guys like Will Barton, Monte Morris, and Deni Avdija are secondary tournament options at best.

5-star play: Joel Embiid

4-star play: James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, Kyle Kuzma

Deeper Value: Deni Avdija, PJ Tucker

GPP Sleeper: Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, Will Barton, Monte Morris, Deni Avdija

Quick shoutout to VIP member “Cenzamatic” on a massive $20k win last season! Sometimes paying up for double studs works, and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant brought it home for him with the help of some Stanley Johnson and Pistons value. Good work and congrats man!

Sacramento Kings @ Charlotte Hornets

Vegas Total: 232.5

Vegas Spread: Sac -1.5

Starting with the Kings, De’Aaron Fox continues to play well and gets an elite matchup against the Hornets’ defense in this one. I have no issue going right back to the well with him here, he leads the team with a 31.7% usage rate and 1.38 fantasy points per minute on the season. Domantas Sabonis has been a bit more volatile, but opposing big men are crushing the Hornets’ frontcourt, so I like getting back to Sabonis in this one. The price tag on Keegan Murray has come up a bit, but for good reason, he’s playing all the minutes he can handle right now and looks good again here. Kevin Huerter had a huge game last time out on 37 minutes, he would still be more of a secondary tournament option for me in this one. Then Harrison Barnes is a GPP option as well, but they certainly like going to Murray and Huerter over him right now. From the Hornets, they’ll continue to be without LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier in this one which opens up a ton of usage and playing time in that backcourt. Kelly Oubre Jr. and Dennis Smith Jr. should stick in that starting lineup until these guys come back. Oubre had a really nice game last time out and is always a guy I have an interest in when the minutes are solidified like they are here. He has a 26.4% usage rate and 0.98 fantasy points per minute with these guys off the court this season. The same can be said for Smith Jr., he may not be a great NBA player but when he gets the playing time, he’s awesome for DFS and has at least 36 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. Gordon Hayward is another guy I have no problem going back to in a great matchup with the Kings, with how shorthanded they are without Ball, Rozier, and Bridges who some people forget to include in the inactive list. Then PJ Washington and Mason Plumlee look like fine secondary GPP options to round out the team.

5-star play: De’Aaron Fox

4-star play: Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray, Kelly Oubre Jr., Dennis Smith Jr., Gordon Hayward

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Kevin Huerter, Harrison Barnes, PJ Washington, Mason Plumlee

Indiana Pacers @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: 237.5

Vegas Spread: Bkn -8.0

This game has the highest implied total on the slate, so we should be able to find some nice DFS options against these terrible defensive units. Starting with the Pacers, Tyrese Haliburton continues to put up consistent numbers on the season. He’s averaging 45.39 FanDuel points per game and gets a great matchup with the Nets in this one. He’ll look like a solid option in all formats on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The rookie Bennedict Mathurin has looked like their second-best producer and saw his minutes come back up last time out. He looks like a solid secondary option in all formats in this one. Myles Turner missed Saturday’s game but sounds like he should be back in this one and looked great in their Friday win against the Wizards. Assuming he plays, I love targeting big men against this Nets frontcourt, so he’ll look like a solid option in all formats. Jalen Smith has been getting the minutes but the production has been lower than we’d like to see, but the price tag hasn’t really moved, so I don’t mind him as a secondary option in a high-scoring game. Then Buddy Hield will be a good secondary option as well, he has at least 35 DraftKings points in four straight games. From the Nets, this team is a mess right now… Ben Simmons looked at least competent last time out and we know the minutes will be there. If he could scratch across 10 points his double-double/triple-double upside would be massive, but he hasn’t gotten over that mark yet this season. That said, he had his best game of the season last time out in this Pacers matchup, so no issue going right back to him in this one. Kyrie Irving has at least 48 DraftKings points in three of his last four and at least 60 DraftKings points in two of those, he looks good again in a great matchup. Kevin Durant leads the team with a 34.1% usage rate and 1.31 fantasy points per minute and looks like a solid spend-up option on this slate as well. Then we can round this team out with Nicolas Claxton and Royce O’Neale as solid filler options.

5-star play: Tyrese Haliburton, Kevin Durant

4-star play: Bennedict Mathurin, Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin, Jalen Smith, Buddy Hield, Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Myles Turner, Jalen Smith, Buddy Hield, Nicolas Claxton, Royce O’Neale

Atlanta Hawks @ Toronto Raptors

Vegas Total: 222.0

Vegas Spread: Tor -4.0

Starting with the Hawks, Dejounte Murray and Trae Young have both looked great to start the season. Trae has at least 54 FanDuel points in back-to-back games while Murray has taken more of a backseat… but not by a ton, he’s still averaging 45.5 FanDuel points per game on the season. I don’t love the matchup with the Raptors, but both guys are firmly in play in this one. John Collins has fallen on his face a little bit over their last two games and looks like more of a tournament option in this one due to the volatility. Clint Capela was a guy I loved as a run-back option against the Bucks last time out and he looked good, I would have no issue going back to him here as his price continues to go down for whatever reason. Then I would have no issue with De’Andre Hunter to round out the team, as he continues to see 30+ minutes per game. From the Raptors, Pascal Siakam continues to crush with at least  47 DraftKings points in five straight games and gets a great matchup in this one. Fred VanVleet has shown his volatility early this season, he’s very scoring-dependent which makes him hard to trust at this price tag, and we saw this last time out where he shot 0-8 from three-point range and 0-11 from the field. Scottie Barnes has looked fine as of late as well, we know the minutes will be there for him but the trio of him, OG Anunoby, and Gary Trent Jr. will have their days but it’s hard to determine which will have the big night on a daily basis… making them all solid secondary tournament options due to the minutes they’ll see.

5-star play: Trae Young, Pascal Siakam

4-star play: Dejounte Murray, Clint Capela, John Collins, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes, Gary Trent Jr.

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, Scottie Barens, OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr.

Detroit Pistons @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas Total: 229.5

Vegas Spread: Mil -12.5

Starting with the Pistons, Cade Cunningham has finally found his footing with at least 48 DraftKings points in three straight games and will look like a great option yet again in this one. Jaden Ivey has shown some volatility over the last few games which will make him more of a secondary option tournament option in a pace-up spot here. Saddiq Bey has shown why he’s a tournament guy over the last few games with a decrease in production. Yet he bounced back in a big way last time out, as long as this team is healthy I don’t think we can trust him in cash games, however. Jalen Duren comes into this one as questionable so keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed. If he were to miss, Isaiah Stewart would see all the minutes he can handle, and looks like a great option at this price tag regardless. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to dominate and has at least 64 DraftKings points in four straight games, he’s probably the best raw option on the slate. He has a 36.2% usage rate and 1.86 fantasy points per minute on the season. Jrue Holiday proved me wrong last time out against the Hawks, I didn’t think he had much of a ceiling as long as Giannis is in there soaking up usage, but he indeed dropped a ceiling game on us. I have no issue going right back to him in this one, although he’s priced thru the nose. Bobby Portis continues to play well and will be a solid GPP option due to the volatility of his minutes. Brook Lopez has been sneaky great to start the season and has at least 33 DraftKings points in three of his last four games and makes sense as a mid-range center option. Then Grayson Allen is a fine tournament option but is extremely scoring-dependent.

5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Isaiah Stewart

4-star play: Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Saddiq Bey, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Brook Lopez

Deeper Value: Jevon Carter

GPP Sleeper: Saddiq Bey, Jalen Duren, Jaden Ivey, Grayson Allen, Bobby Portis

Memphis Grizzlies @ Utah Jazz

Vegas Total: 234.5

Vegas Spread: Mem -3.5

Starting with the Grizzlies, Ja Morant missed Saturday’s game and comes in as questionable in this one. I’ll operate under the assumption that he’s good to go here, but keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates as we get closer to lock, as this is probably the biggest news that we’re waiting on. Assuming he’s good to go, he’ll look great again here, however, the price has certainly caught up to him. I’ll come off of Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks a bit with Morant back in the lineup, they’ll see a usage and production decrease. That being said, it was good to see Brooks shake the rust off and have a huge game in just 29 minutes last time out. Bane will still be in play due to the consistency he’s shown as of late as well. Tyus Jones filled in nicely for Morant on Saturday, but if Morant is back we can safely remove him from our player pool at this price tag. Steven Adams has been consistent relative to his price tag and is a solid mid-range center option as well while Santi Aldama and Brandon Clarke would be more of secondary GPP options than anything to round out this squad. From the Jazz, Lauri Markkanen continues to play big minutes and now has at least 40 DraftKings points in three of his last five and will look like a nice option again in this one. Jordan Clarkson has looked great as of late and has a 24.6% usage rate with 1.09 fantasy points per minute on the season. Collin Sexton started last time out with Mike Conley unavailable but would expect he’s back on the bench in this one, so I’ll be off of him again here unless something changes. Kelly Olynyk had a big game last time out against this Memphis squad and has a nice price tag again in this one, he’s a solid option at his price tag. Jarred Vanderbilt has been fine as of late but isn’t racking up the double-doubles like he was earlier in the season… his minutes have also been trending in the wrong direction. Mike Conley will always be a secondary type of guy for me and is someone I’ll have no issue with if you land on him, but not a priority by any means. Then, Talen Horton-Tucker threw up a dud with Conley and Rudy Gay out on Saturday, he’s going to be an MME-only play going forward.

5-star play: Ja Morant

4-star play: Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Steven Adams, Lauri Markkanen, Jordan Clarkson, Kelly Olynyk, Mike Conley

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Santi Aldama, Brandon Clarke, Jarred Vanderbilt, Brandon Clarke

Houston Rockets @ Los Angeles Clippers

Vegas Total: 223.5

Vegas Spread: LAC -9.5

We’ll round out the slate starting with the Rockets, Alperen Sengun should continue to start at the five for this team with Bruno Fernando sidelined. Sengun is always a great per-minute producer and has at least 31 DraftKings points in three of his last four and will be a guy I want to go right back to in this matchup. Tari Eason has looked good when he gets the opportunity but isn’t getting enough minutes for me to want to get to him with any crazy type of exposure. Jabari Smith hasn’t been all that great as of late and is still priced up… that said, I don’t have an issue going back to him in tournaments if you land on him. Then Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green will continue to run this backcourt and are both guys I’ll go right back to the well with them here. Both guys have been great this season, but Porter Jr. has been better over their last couple of games. Then Jae’Sean Tate should continue to see good run and has a nice price tag if you need some value. From the Clippers, it sounds like they’ll be without Kawhi Leonard, John Wall, and Robert Covington in this one. Paul George has not been great over his last few games but this is an elite matchup and should see more usage with Leonard and Wall out, he’s a great option at this price tag. The minutes for Reggie Jackson should become more secure with Wall out as well and looks like a nice option at his price tag in a great matchup. Norman Powell has bounced back a bit over his last two with at least 28 DraftKings points in each of them and will look like a solid option yet again here. Ivica Zubac is volatile but has shown a really nice ceiling this season and in a great matchup, he’ll look good for tournaments again here. Then we can round out the team with Marcus Morris who has at least 30 DraftKings points in back-to-back games and should play around 30 minutes again in this one due to the injuries this team is dealing with.

5-star play: Alperen Sengun, Paul George

4-star play: Kevin Porter Jr., Jalen Green, Jae’Sean Tate, Reggie Jackson, Ivica Zubac, Norman Powell, Marcus Morris

Deeper Value: Jae’Sean Tate

GPP Sleeper: Jabari Smith, Tari Eason, Jae’Sean Tate, Luke Kennard

NBA Lock of the Day: Alperen Sengun (DK – $5.2k; FD – $6.4k)

I like the price tag more for Sengun on DraftKings than on FanDuel, but I still think he’s a great option on both sites. He should continue to start in this one in a great matchup with the Clippers. He’s a great per-minute guy when he’s out there with a 22.8% usage rate and 1.30 fantasy points per minute on the season. He’s just too cheap for his current role on the team. At this point in the day, I would think he makes my core, but check out our VIP Cheat Sheets as we get closer to lock for staff picks on Core plays, 8x locks of the day, and tiers notes as well!
