Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides last season, so we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Mike aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!
Miami Heat @ Philadelphia 76ers
Vegas Total: 210.0
Vegas Spread: Mia -3.0
We’ll kick this slate kicked off with the Heat, I’ll be going right back to the Bam Adebayo well, he should do whatever he wants against this Deandre Jordan/Paul Reed lead frontcourt. He had a pretty average game relative to his increased price tag in game two, but still a guy I want to go back to in this one. Then we get to the injury report where Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, PJ Tucker, Max Strus, and Gabe Vincent all come in as questionable. Keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates surrounding their statuses, but I’ll operate under the assumption that they all play as we’ve seen over the past week or so outside of Lowry… he’s the only true question mark for me. Herro continues to look good and will be a guy I like in all formats even at an increased price tag. Jimmy Butler bounced back in a big way last time out to drop a 50 burger on them and will be a guy we can go back to again here. The Lowry news will be key for Gabe Vincent who would go back to the bench if Lowry were to return here, but that’s news we should have well before lock. Then guys like Strus and Tucker are solid filler pieces… Victor Oladipo is a fine GPP option as well, but I would want Lowry to be out again for me to feel comfortable rostering him. Then we get to this Sixers team who will return home and look to avoid going down 3-0 without Joel Embiid yet again here. We saw Deandre Jordan get the start in the first two games of this series but it’s pretty obvious he can’t hang with the Heat and give the Sixers a chance to win. I would expect he starts again here but only saw 13 minutes in game two making him more of a GPP value than anything. Paul Reed is the guy I want in the frontcourt, he passes the eye test and can produce at a really nice per minute clip if he can just stay out of foul trouble. It’s a big ask given the matchup, but he got to 25 minutes in game two which I would have had 100% of him if I was guaranteed that heading into the last game, he’s a nice mid-range option for GPPs at the very least. Tyrese Maxey had a huge bounce-back game last time out and will be a guy I go right back to here, we know he’s going to play all the minutes he can handle and is around a fantasy point per minute guy with Embiid off of the court this season. Below is how James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Tobias Harris perform with Embiid off of the court this season:
- James Harden – 36.1% usage rate; 1.55 fpm
- Tobias Harris – 24.6% usage rate; 1.03 fpm
- Tyrese Maxey – 25.8% usage rate; 1.08 fpm
These rates look great on these guys but it doesn’t account for the small sample we have of all three being on the court at the same time as we should see for a good chunk of this game. Not to mention, Miami is playing lockdown defense on them making it even harder to be productive. They’ve deployed that same defense to James Harden as they did to Trae Young in the first round and it’s working pretty well on him, so I like going to these ancillary pieces from Philly.
***Below assumes Kyle Lowry is OUT again for Miami***
5-star play: Bam Adebayo
4-star play: Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, James Harden, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, Paul Reed
Deeper Value: Deandre Jordan, Georges Niang
GPP Sleeper: Deandre Jordan, Georges Niang, Matisse Thybulle, Victor Oladipo
Quick shoutout to VIP member “Cenzamatic” on a massive $20k win earlier in the season! Sometimes paying up for double studs works, and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant brought it home for him with the help of some Stanley Johnson and Pistons value. Good work and congrats man!
Phoenix Suns @ Dallas Mavericks
Vegas Total: 220.0
Vegas Spread: Pho -1.0
We’ll start this game off with the Suns, Devin Booker continues to look great and is now priced higher than Chris Paul on DraftKings which was much needed… however, he’s still $700 less than Paul on FanDuel which makes no sense to me. I would much rather take that $700 savings and go to Booker all day long, Booker is a great option on both sites. Paul is a fine option, but I’m just going to take the savings and go to Booker personally, I’ll be more likely to get to Paul on DraftKings. Deandre Ayton struggled with fouls last time out which lead him to play just 18 minutes. If people are going to be off of him due to that game, I’ll go right back to the well and be overweight on him. This Mavs team is not good at rebounding which gives him a nice floor and ceiling. Mikal Bridges has been great this postseason and we know the minutes will be there for him, very solid mid-range option. Then we can round this team out with Jae Crowder and Cam Johnson who will look like solid secondary pieces at their respective price tags, both can get hot from behind the three-point line at any given moment. From the Mavericks, Luka Doncic continues to look great and will need to carry this team if they stand any chance at sneaking out of this series. He’s pretty clearly the top spend-up option on the slate and a guy I want to get to if we can find the value to make it work. Jalen Brunson sees a -3.9% usage rate and about 0.15 fantasy point per minute decrease with Luka on the floor but he’s this team’s second option right now and will look like a fine secondary piece on this slate after a tough game two performance. Spencer Dinwiddie would be more of a GPP guy for me, he needs the ball in his hands to get you there and with Luka soaking up all the usage, he’ll play second fiddle behind him and Brunson. Dorian Finney-Smith and Reggie Bullock are pretty similar to me, we know they’re both going to play all the minutes they can handle and will look like nice filler options for your rosters. Dwight Powell will start at center and get the first crack at production but has not been good this postseason as they’ve played the hot hand between him and Maxi Kleber. I’m going to make Powell prove it to me before I go back to him again, he’s been held under 6 fantasy points in three straight games and is a lineup killer right now.
5-star play: Luka Doncic, Devin Booker
4-star play: Jalen Brunson, Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder
Deeper Value: Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell, JaVale McGee
GPP Sleeper: Spencer Dinwiddie, Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell, Cam Johnson, JaVale McGee

NBA Lock of the Day: Tyrese Maxey (DK – $7.0k; FD – $7.2k)
I had a bunch of Maxey in game one where he dudded and then came off of him in game two when he had a huge game… so naturally, I’m going right back to the well. The Heat are focusing on slowing down Harden which they’ve done a really good job at so I would expect Maxey to continue to handle more usage and see more production at a nice price tag. We know he’ll play around 40 minutes here as the Sixers look to avoid going down 3-0 at home. At this point in the day, I would think he makes my core, but check out our VIP Cheat Sheets as we get closer to lock for staff picks on Core plays, 8x locks of the day, and tiers notes as well!
