Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides last season, so we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Mike aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!
Atlanta Hawks @ Miami Heat
Vegas Total: 217.5
Vegas Spread: Mia -7.0
We’ll kick this slate kicked off with the Hawks who come into this one down 3-1 and will look to avoid elimination on the road. Both Clint Capela and Bogdan Bogdanovic come into this one as questionable, so keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed as we get closer to lock. That said, I’ll operate under the assumption that they’re both good to go here seeing as how it’s an elimination game. Capela played just 21 minutes in his return last time out and probably won’t be a guy I get to hear unless we get definitive news that he won’t be limited. Bogdanovic burned me last time out and for some reason, they only gave him 10 first-half minutes and 21 total… the minutes will be volatile but is a good producer when he’s in there. Trae Young continues to struggle coming off of a 16-point fantasy outing last time out. He’s now averaging 35.0 DraftKings points per game in eight games against the Heat this season, I’ll continue to fade him… the Heat are just doing a great job on him. John Collins has struggled over his last two games as well and will look more like a tournament option due to the volatility he has. Then the trio of Kevin Huerter, De’Andre Hunter, and Danilo Gallinari will be solid secondary options to round this team out. From the Heat, they’ll be without Kyle Lowry again here which means we likely see Gabe Vincent back in the starting lineup, and will look like a nice value option after a 24-point outing last time out. Below is how the rest of this team operates with Lowry off of the court this season:
- Jimmy Butler – 26.6% usage rate; 1.23 fpm
- Tyler Herro – 29.5% usage rate; 1.09 fpm
- Gabe Vincent – 17.1% usage rate; 0.78 fpm
- Bam Adebayo – 23.1% usage rate; 1.2 fpm
- PJ Tucker – 11.7% usage rate; 0.68 fpm
- Max Strus – 18.9% usage rate; 0.78 fpm
- Victor Oladipo – 22.1% usage rate; 0.89 fpm
I was all over Butler and Bam last time out, Bam had a rough game, but Butler kept it rolling and would expect more of the same here. They both look like nice options at their respective price tags, Bam has fallen below $7k on DraftKings and is on the verge of doing so on FanDuel. We did see Victor Oladipo enter the rotation for the first time in the postseason last time out with Lowry inactive. He played 23 minutes and was pretty productive in that time, I don’t know if I want to go to him in cash but he makes for an interesting GPP option at the very least.
5-star play: Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo
4-star play: Trae Young, Kevin Huerter, De’Andre Hunter, Danilo Gallinari, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Tyler Herro, Gabe Vincent, Max Strus
Deeper Value: Gabe Vincent, Delon Wright
GPP Sleeper: John Collins, Delon Wright, Clint Capela, Bogdan Bogdanovic, PJ Tucker, Victor Oladipo
Quick shoutout to VIP member “Cenzamatic” on a massive $20k win earlier in the season! Sometimes paying up for double studs works, and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant brought it home for him with the help of some Stanley Johnson and Pistons value. Good work and congrats man!
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Memphis Grizzlies
Vegas Total: 232.5
Vegas Spread: Mem -6.0
We’ll start this game off with the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns bounced back nicely last time out and looked to be much more aggressive than he was in games three and four. I’m hoping he sees that’s what he needs to do for the Wolves to stand a chance in this series. I would look for him to be aggressive again here and looks like a nice option at this price tag. Anthony Edwards had a nice bounce-back game as well after being held down over their past two. He’s a guy that I’m just a huge fan of and can see him making a leap in this postseason. D’Angelo Russell will be more of a tournament guy due to the volatility that he’s shown in this series, but does have a really nice ceiling at this price tag. We know Patrick Beverley is going to bring the intensity and will play all the minutes he can handle. He’s been right around this price tag all season long and hasn’t been shy about paying it off, he’ll look like a nice mid-range option after a nice performance last time out. Jarred Vanderbilt had a really nice game again last time out and now has at least 27 DraftKings points in back-to-back games and will be a guy I go right back to, I think the Wolves figured out what they want to do with him in their rotations. Then we can round this team out with Malik Beasley and Jaden McDaniels as guys who had a rough game last time out and will be secondary GPP options. From the Grizzlies, Ja Morant has been great in this series and has shot poorly over his last two games, so if that regresses in a positive way back to his median production, he’ll have a really nice ceiling. We did see another starting lineup change where Xavier Tillman got the start at the five but got into really quick foul trouble. I think there’s a multitude of starting lineups they could go to between Jackson, Adams, Tillman, Anderson, and Clarke at the five, so keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for a confirmed starting lineup from them. I almost think they just go right back to Tillman again here, the refs had a loose whistle last time out with Tillman and Jackson both in foul trouble… which really isn’t out of the usual for these two, but something to monitor at the very least. Jackson and Clarke will look like nice options regardless of what the Grizzlies starting lineup looks like. The price tags on Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane look about right here and should be solid secondary options on the wing, they’re both coming off of nice games last time out and Bane has been great for them down the stretch.
5-star play: Karl-Anthony Towns, Ja Morant
4-star play: Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell, Patrick Beverley, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke, Jaren Jackson Jr.
Deeper Value: Jarred Vanderbilt, Xavier Tillman
GPP Sleeper: Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaren Jackson Jr., Malik Beasley, Jaden McDaniels
New Orleans Pelicans @ Phoenix Suns
Vegas Total: 215.5
Vegas Spread: Pho -6.5
Starting with the Pelicans, CJ McCollum came back down to Earth last time out but has been great throughout this series, so I have no problem going right back to him as they try and take a 3-2 lead in this series. Jonas Valanciunas was awesome last time out and now has at least 52 DraftKings points in two of the four games in this series, he’ll be a great option again at this price tag. Brandon Ingram has been great in this series as well, I’m generally not a big Ingram guy for fantasy, but he’s been extremely aggressive… that said, this price tag is really hard for me to stomach. Larry Nance should continue to play 20-25 minutes again here and will be a guy I like as a value option on this slate. Then we can round this team and slate out with Herbert Jones who will play all the minutes he can handle due to his defense and will look like a nice secondary option. From the Suns, they’ll continue to be without Devin Booker. I would think we see Cam Johnson continue to start in his place. Below is how this team operates with Booker off of the court this season:
- Chris Paul – 23.2% usage rate; 1.27 fpm
- Cam Johnson – 18.9% usage rate; 0.94 fpm
- Jae Crowder – 17.4% usage rate; 0.85 fpm
- Deandre Ayton – 23.7% usage rate; 1.11 fpm
- Mikal Bridges – 16.0% usage rate; 0.73 fpm
- Cam Payne – 27.2% usage rate; 1.12 fpm
Paul had a really rough game last time out, but I would still want to get to him here, they will need him if they want to take the advantage in this series. Johnson had a nice bounce-back game along with Jae Crowder who has started to show some consistency, both will look like great wing options at similar price tags.
5-star play: Jonas Valanciunas
4-star play: CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, Larry Nance, Herbert Jones, Chris Paul, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges
Deeper Value: Larry Nance, JaVale McGee
GPP Sleeper: Larry Nance, JaVale McGee, Cam Payne

NBA Lock of the Day: Karl-Anthony Towns (DK – $9.1k; FD – $9.4k)
I mentioned it in the breakdown of the Wolves game, but I think Towns is finally realizing in order for this team to make the next step he needs to be more aggressive as we saw last time out. He’s had at least 52 DraftKings points in two of the four games in this series and a guy I want to go right back to here as they try and take a 3-2 lead in this series. At this point in the day, I would think he makes my core, but check out our VIP Cheat Sheets as we get closer to lock for staff picks on Core plays, 8x locks of the day, and tiers notes as well!
