DFS NHL is a volatile sport centering around correlation, stacking and game theory. Learning how to win cash games and tournaments requires nailing those great upside plays/stacks, grabbing obvious value, and making the proper fades that sink everyone else’s ships. Let’s look through today’s slate and identify those winning picks in “Snipes, Grinders, and Hard Passes!”
All of my plays make sense for the entire DFS industry; however, if there is an egregious discrepancy in player salary between sites, I will mention it in my briefing.
Snipe = Good Play
Grinder = Value Plays (Grinders are Valuable)
Hard-Pass = I’m fading in tournaments
DFS NHL Slate Overview:
I am in a pinch for time here so I am going to be rather quick and to the point with this one for you guys. My 2 primary stacks are fairly obvious (and I will quickly tell you about them); however, if you want to be sneaky, go ahead and grab the Kings and/or Sharks top lines.
Snipes and Hard Passes for Tonight

Mar 2, 2022; New York, New York, USA; New York Rangers left wing Chris Kreider (20) celebrates his goal against the St. Louis Blues with center Mika Zibanejad (93) during the third period at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers defeated the Blues 5-3. Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports
Correlated Snipe #1
Mika Zibanejad – Chris Kreider – Frank Vatrano
The Red Wings have no goaltending, no defensemen (other than the rookie Seider), and no hope. The Red Wings have played in games where they have given up 8, 9, 10, and 11 goals all in a single game (at separate times). Every explosive offense has the potential to go absolutely nuclear against the Red Wings, and the Rangers are no exception. Zibanejad has just always been damned good at hockey. Chris Kreider’s straight ahead game has been more and more acceptable and effective over time, which is how/why he has 45 goals or whatever; and, the Rangers somehow simply stole Frank Vatrano from the contending Florida Panthers. Vatrano has fit in seamlessly on their top line, and their ceiling is limitless against the Red Wings.
Correlated Snipe #2
Pierre-Luc Dubois – Blake Wheeler – Kyle Conner
I will make it simple; this line has recently been put together and they are 3 very good hockey players with contrasting styles/abilities that have adapted well to each other Wheeler is the passer guy, Conner is the scorer guy, and Dubois goes wherever the hell he wants very quickly. They are good at hockey, and the Sabres are very bad at hockey; roster the good hockey players.

NHL Grinder Value Plays
Grinder #1
Evgeni Dadanov – After the Golden Knights tried to illegally trade Dadanov, he has done nothing but accept crowd support, score goals, and score game winning goals. He is still super cheap somehow, so go take advantage.
Grinder#2
Alexander Barabonov- nearly min-priced on Draftkings, and penciled in (as of now) as a top line winger for the Sharks with Hertl and Meier. Not a bad place to be. He has played well on the top line for the last week or so.
Good luck, I hope you all come in 2nd. 😉
