Houston Rockets @ Denver Nuggets

Vegas Total: 220

Vegas Spread: Den -10.5

Here we have an island game as it starts at 5P.M., so it’ll be showdown exclusive. Starting with the Rockets, Kevin Porter Jr. has been very up and down to start the year, but that is to be expected from a young guard, he draws a tougher matchup here but it is one he could take advantage of as this Denver defense is not the same without Jamal Murray. Christian Wood is a premier play as well here, as he went off last game in a much tougher matchup. Jalen Green is a guy I’ve been high on all season and has been a bit volatile, so probably more of a GPP guy, but in play nonetheless as he seems like a gamer who wants to show up when he is playing against other premier NBA teams. That really concludes my interest in the Rockets. Maybe some Alpherun Sengun if you think this games gets ugly as he’ll get some blowout run.

For the Nuggets, the story is gonna be pretty much the same here, Nikola Jokic is gonna dominate the ball here and get whatever he wants against this poor Rockets defense. He’s an elite option for Captain on this slate. Will Barton has also been very good so far this year and even gets additional minutes running the point with the 2nd unit. Michael Porter Jr. has been a big time disappointment so far, he’s gonna be a GPP only guy moving forward as he seems to have lost interest in scoring after getting paid. Monte Morris and Aaron Gordon are also guys you can round your lineups out with if you need a cheaper option but neither have a very high ceiling.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic

4-star play: Kevin Porter, Christian Wood, Jalen Green, Will Barton, Michael Porter

Deeper Value: Monte Morris, Aaron Gordon, Alpheren Sengun

GPP Sleeper: Alpheren Sengun

Utah Jazz @ Miami Heat

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: TBD

Starting with the Jazz, the big news here is that Donovan Mitchell missed their last game and may miss again here tonight. If he is out then Mike Conley would get a nice usage bump and I’d have a ton of interest in both Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles to soak up more production, you could even pair them here. Rudy Gobert is another guy who has been really solid this year, he gets a tougher matchup here going up against Bam but he is rock solid either way. Then you can round this team out with GPP guys like Bojan Bogdanovic and Royce O’Neale who are both solid role guys who play good minutes but aren’t high usage, but will see a bump if Mitchell is out.

From the Heat, Jimmy Butler has been on a tear and gets another good matchup in this one, as the Jazz have been playing at a faster pace this year and their defense has suffered a bit as a result. Tyler Herro is gonna be in limbo again it looks like this year, because if Lowry is in then he’s going to really limit his ceiling, as we saw last game, it’s gonna be a dart throw from game to game. This leads me to Kyle Lowry, he’s more of a floor manager on this team, but he has been getting a bit more aggressive on offense, I like him a lot at that price on FanDuel tonight as he is super cheap over there. Bam Adebayo has been solid as well, and Gobert gives up more FPs to opposing bigs than people realize here. I also really like Dewayne Dedmon here for value as he is a FPPM monster and if Bam gets into foul trouble he could win you a GPP.

5-star play: Jimmy Butler

4-star play: Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, Rudy Gobert, Kyle Lowry

Deeper Value: Tyler Herro, Bojan Bogdanovic, Royce O’Neale, Dewayne Dedmon

GPP Sleeper: Dewayne Dedmon

Philadelphia 76ers @ Chicago Bulls

Vegas Total: 211

Vegas Spread: Chi -3.5

Joel Embiid is coming off a disappointing game here, especially considering before hand he was averaging over 2 FPPM with Tobias Harris off the floor. Something doesn’t seem right with him, so I’m going to be under the field here tonight for sure. Tyrese Maxey and Seth Curry as well as both have been playing north of 35 minutes and Curry has really stepped up with Tobias Harris out, he’s my preferred option of the two. Andre Drummond is also a solid option off the bench and would be a core play if Embiid were to miss for any reason. Georges Niang has really stepped it up off the bench and I like him a ton on FanDuel at his price. Furkan Korkmaz has also been starting in Harris’ place, and he is reasonably priced on both sites as well. Shake Milton is also off his minutes limit, and with Harris and Simmons out his usage gets a nice bump as we saw last game, love him for value tonight.

Now for the Bulls, their leader has become Zach LaVine as he has been a model of consistency so far this year, he gets a solid matchup here and is very much in play. DeMar Derozan has also started to take over offensively as his usage is up big time from the past few games and without Tobias the Sixers are vulnerable to his style of play. Nikola Vucevic has also been solid, but with an Embiid at less than 100% he can feast here as well. Those are the big 3 that I’ll have exposure to in this game, and you can round it out with Alex Caruso as he is their leader with the 2nd unit and is a solid value play here tonight.

5-star play: DeMar Derozan

4-star play: Joel Embiid, Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, Tyrese Maxey, Seth Curry

Deeper Value: Shake Milton, Andre Drummond, Georges Niang

GPP Sleeper: Furkan Korkmaz, Shake Milton

Boston Celtics @ Dallas Mavericks

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: TBD

From the Celtics, Jaylen Brown has already been ruled out in this game with a hamstring injury so let’s take a look at how this breaks down for the Celtics:

  • Jayson Tatum – 37% usage rate and 1.43 FPPM
  • Marcus Smart – 20.2% usage and 0.93 FPPM
  • Robert Williams – 15.3% usage and 1.24 FPPM

Those are the guys that we have data for, with Tatum obviously being the biggest beneficiary. Al Horford is also a great play here as he’s been a beast on the boards the past few weeks and you could also see Grant Williams become viable if he starts in Brown’s place tonight. Dennis Schroder will also see a nice boost here as well.

Now for the Mavericks, they are kind of in disarray right now, but the constant will be Luka Doncic, he has elite usage and should be able to get whatever he wants here tonight. Kristaps Porzingis has also been out the past week, so even if he played I’ll be fading him as he likely won’t see full run. Dorian Finney-Smith could do well in a game environment like this, but the biggest piece I want here is Jalen Brunson as he has emerged as the clear #2 behind Luka and has been doing it all for this Mavericks offense. Tim Hardaway would also be in play if KP were to miss but he is very scoring dependent so keep that in mind.

5-star play: Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum

4-star play: Al Horford, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, Jalen Brunson

Deeper Value: Tim Hardaway, Grant Williams

GPP Sleeper: Dennis Schroder, Jalen Brunson

Atlanta Hawks @ Phoenix Suns

Vegas Total: 224.5

Vegas Spread: Phx -4.5

Starting with the Hawks, Trae Young has looked elite so far this year, he got off to a torrid start the other night, but he’s been matchup proof so he doesn’t worry me too much against CP3 here. Bogdan Bogdanovic has also been solid to start the year, and the price has come down a bit on FanDuel which is nice. John Collins is also a really nice mid-range play, but his upside is gonna be a bit limited as long as Clint Capela is healthy, but he has looked fantastic so far this year, he was a GTD last night though so keep an eye out here as him being out would boost Capela and make Danilo Gallinari playable as well. De’Andre Hunter returned the last few games as well, he’s a solid value as he was a beast when healthy last year. Him being back does hurt both Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter but I’d be ok taking a few shots on them in GPPs.

From the Suns, they’re generally not a team that is fantasy friendly, and tonight should be the case again as I won’t be heavy on them at all. Devin Booker will be a GPP guy for me, as he hasn’t really had any ceiling games yet, but that will likely be the case as long as CP3 is healthy and taking all those assists he used to get. Chris Paul has had a few games over 50 FPs this season and he is my preferred option of the two and he draws the better matchup going up against Trae’s lack of defense. DeAndre Ayton has been all over the place from a fantasy perspective as well, but he gets a good matchup here against this undersized Hawks front court. Javale McGee has been a solid FPPM producer off the bench if you want to get really deep, and Frank Kaminsky would be in play if Ayton were to miss for any reason. Then you can round this team out with GPP darts in guys like Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder if you really want to get frisky, of the two I would really only play Bridges as he has way more upside.

5-star play: Trae Young, Chris Paul

4-star play: Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, John Collins, Clint Capela

Deeper Value: De’Andre Hunter, Danilo Gallinari, Javale McGee

GPP Sleeper: Mikal Bridges

Los Angeles Lakers @ Portland Trailblazers

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: TBD

From the Lakers, LeBron James has been ruled out for at least a week, so we can get some fantasy goodness with both Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis. AD took over last game, but Westy had a solid game as well and this should be a fast paced and competitive game here so I love them both. LeBron being out would also open up some value in Carmelo Anthony and Malik Monk, with my preference on Anthony in that case. Kent Bazemore is a guy you can get to as well if you want to go deeper but I’d prefer to play Melo and Monk in that salary range. Lastly, Dwight Howard is a solid value off the bench and this POR defense is not good in their interior especially on that 2nd unit.

For the Blazers, the obvious play here is going to be Damian Lillard as this Lakers team is giving up the most FPPG to opposing PGs in the NBA since they got Russ and his lack of defense. CJ McCollum is also a fine play here, but I’m bigger on Dame in this one as he has the better matchup. Jusuf Nurkic has a tougher matchup here as well, but he could get going in a game like this. Norman Powell has also been shooting well, and they’ll need him again tonight to step up. You can round out your cheaper GPP options on this Blazer team with guys like Robert Covington or Anfernee Simons as well.

5-star play: Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard

4-star play: Carmelo Anthony, CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Norman Powell

Deeper Value: Robert Covington, Malik Monk, Kent Bazemore, Dwight Howard

GPP Sleeper: Anfernee Simons
