My name is Steve aka @Mutt18 on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. New York Knicks @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: 216

Vegas Spread: Bkn -6

We have the battle for NY to kick off the slate, and the Knicks are no longer the pushovers they have been for year. Their offense starts with Julius Randle who has been playing lights out again and coming off a dud game, he should feast against this Brooklyn frontcourt. Alec Burks will also be taking over the starting PG role which immediately puts him into play, as Kemba will be out of the rotation and he just went off last game and gets another good matchup here. RJ Barrett and Evan Fournier will also see increased roles here as well but this Knicks team isn’t too fantasy friendly. Lastly, Immanuel Quickley will run the 2nd unit here if Derrick Rose is out again, he’ll be one of the better value plays on the slate if Rose were to miss.

Now for the Nets, they’re starting to come around here, as Kevin Durant is coming off his best game of the year with a 70 FP performance against the Suns, he is very much in play again here tonight. De’Andre Bembry continues to start as well and is a really solid value play as long as that continues. LaMarcus Aldridge’s minutes are all over the place but he is in play here on a small slate as well. Patty Mills is also in play here but he is pretty scoring dependent so I won’t be chasing him tonight but the matchup is decent here. Lastly, if you’re looking to round it out you can obviously play James Harden here as well, but he hasn’t really been worth the price tag so far this year, but if he gets it going he can always break the slate.

5-star play: Kevin Durant, Julius Randle

4-star play: Alec Burks, James Harden, Patty Mills

Deeper Value: RJ Barrett, De’Andre Bembry, Patty Mills, Evan Fournier

GPP Sleeper: Immanuel Quickley

Memphis Grizzlies @ Toronto Raptors

Vegas Total: 219.5

Vegas Spread: Tor -6

Starting with the Grizzlies, they took a big hit with Ja Morant going down, and he’ll likely be out a week or two which will open up a ton of usage. The main beneficiaries are going to be Dillon Brooks, Desmond Bane, De’Anthony Melton, and Tyus Jones. All 4 of those guards are in play here tonight, with my preference being on the ones who start in Ja’s place, last time it was Jones, but Melton saw the majority of the production. Jaren Jackson Jr. is in play here for sure, as this young Raptors frontcourt is very vulnerable here. Kyle Anderson is even in play here with Ja out, and Brandon Clarke has also seen a nice increase in minutes the past few games as Steven Adams is losing favor with this coaching staff. However, he did turn it around last game so he could be in store for a good game again here tonight.

From the Raptors, Scottie Barnes has been doing a little of it all for the Raptors, and he would see a nice boost if OG Anunoby is out again here tonight, he is a GTD so it is something to monitor once again. Pascal Siakam has also been playing well, and this matchup sets up nice for him as Jaren Jackson is known to get handsy which would be good for him to get to early. Fred VanVleet has been really good so far this year, and they’re gonna need him to continue to lead this offense here, him and Siakam will be my main targets here tonight, especially since MEM is allowing a lot of FPs to PGs. Lastly, Precious Achiuwa is a decent GPP play here, and it looks like Khem Birch may be out again here so he’d have to pick up some of that slack. If he were to miss for any reason as well then it would finally put our boy Chris Boucher (Nick Nurse’s sworn enemy) into play.

5-star play: Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet

4-star play: Dillon Brooks, Desmond Bane, De’Anthony Melton, Steven Adams, Jaren Jackson, Scottie Barnes

Deeper Value: Precious Achiuwa, Tyus Jones, Kyle Anderson

GPP Sleeper: De’Anthony Melton

Golden State Warriors @ Phoenix Suns

Vegas Total: 221

Vegas Spread: Phx -2.5

Starting with the Warriors, Stephen Curry has been on a tear all year long, and the Warriors will likely be shorthanded again here tonight, so he’s a great option once again here as he is night in and night out. Jordan Poole has also stepped up big time here, but he is scoring dependent so he’s gonna be a GPP only play for me moving forward especially with how Wiggins has been playing lately. Kevon Looney has seen an increase in minutes and they may need him here against Ayton. Draymond Green has also been playing very well, and he’s been fantastic especially at his price on FanDuel and the Warriors could go small here to try and spell Ayton. For value plays, Gary Payton and Otto Porter are gonna be the main targets here, and Juan Toscano-Anderson as well. Andrew Wiggins has also been on a hot streak, but he is gonna be GPP only for me as that hot streak can end at any time.

Now for the Suns, they aren’t a very friendly fantasy team, but there are a few guys that you can go to, the main one being Chris Paul, as he does a little of it all for them and he doesn’t break the bank on either site. This matchup does set up well for Devin Booker as well, he could have a ceiling game here if him and Steph decide to go shot for shot. Mikal Bridges is in play as well as he is coming off a big game for him, and he has nice upside in GPPs with the minutes he plays. DeAndre Ayton isn’t going to be a favorite of mine tonight as the Warriors like to go small which can mean he’ll see a lot less of the floor. If you’re looking to go deep, Cameron Payne is their main guy off the bench.

5-star play: Stephen Curry, Devin Booker

4-star play: Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green

Deeper Value: Juan Toscano-Anderson, Otto Porter, Gary Payton, Cameron Payne

GPP Sleeper: Juan Toscano-Anderson

Detroit Pistons @ Portland Trailblazers

Vegas Total: 215.5

Vegas Spread: Por -9.5

Starting with the Pistons, they’re looking a bit better as the year goes on, but they are still pretty bad, however this spread is way too big for them with POR on the 2nd half of a B2B. Cade Cunningham is starting to show why he was the #1 overall pick, the price is starting to come up but for good reason as the production has been fantastic over the last 7 games and he’s still a bit too cheap especially with how bad the Blazers are against PGs. Jerami Grant is also a big factor on this team, and always goes under owned, could be a GPP winner here as well, I always love playing him in that 7K range in GPPs especially on smaller slates. Isaiah Stewart has been playing much better with Olynyk out, but I want him to see more than 30 minutes and it just hasn’t been happening. Saddiq Bey is also in play but he is a streaky shooter, I don’t love his price but there is some upside there but it comes with the risk of a low floor if his shot isn’t falling.

Now for the Blazers, they’re coming off a late game last night and are on the 2nd half of a B2B. Damian Lillard is gonna be your primary target here, as Cade is not great defensively at this point in his career. CJ McCollum should also see an uptick here, especially if Norman Powell were to miss again tonight. Nassir Little would be the main beneficiary if Powell misses, as he did start the 2nd half last night. Jusuf Nurkic is in a decent spot here as well, and I’ll even have some shares of Robert Covington if Powell misses. Lastly, you can round out the GPP options here with guys like Anfernee Simons and Larry Nance who are both cheap.

5-star play: Cade Cunningham, Damian Lillard

4-star play: Jerami Grant, Isaiah Stewart, CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic

Deeper Value: Anfernee Simons, Nassir Little, Larry Nance

GPP Sleeper: Nassir Little

Los Angeles Lakers @ Sacramento Kings

Vegas Total: 227

Vegas Spread: Lal -3.5

From the Lakers, LeBron James is a GTD again here  so keep an eye on news, but he did play last game so I don’t see a reason that he would miss this game. Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis would be the biggest beneficiaries if he were to miss tonight, but AD is a GTD as well (which we are used to), but he always is and usually plays, still something to monitor as the main beneficiary would be Russ.  Talen Horton-Tucker has hung onto his starting job even with LeBron back as well, his ceiling is limited if he is in, but he’ll likely be a core play for me if LeBron were to miss. You can round out your Lakers deeper GPP options with Rajon Rondo and Malik Monk coming off the bench as well. But overall not many options on this Laker squad

Now for the Kings, this should be another solid game here even though they are a bit shorthanded as well. De’Aaron Fox has really picked it up as of late, and he’s getting the minutes which is the biggest thing, really love him in this spot tonight as the Lakers are really bad against PGs this year. Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Hield are also big time plays here tonight, as Barnes is already doubtful so they both should see big minutes, I especially like Hield here. Richaun Holmes missed last game as well, and if he were to do so again then I’d have some interest in the trio of Marvin Bagley, Alex Len, Tristan Thompson, and Chimezie Metu in that order. Moe Harkless also missed last game, which will also open up minutes for both Davion Mitchell and Terence Davis as deeper GPP value plays.

5-star play: De’Aaron Fox, LeBron James

4-star play: Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Buddy Hield, Tyrese Haliburton

Deeper Value: Chimezie Metu, Alex Len, Tristan Thompson, Marvin Bagley

GPP Sleeper: Malik Monk, Terence Davis
