Charlotte Hornets @ Orlando Magic
Vegas Total: 217.0
Vegas Spread: Cha -6.0
We’ll start things off with the Hornets, we already have news that Terry Rozier is doubtful for this one so we can go ahead and scratch him right away. Miles Bridges is on an absolute tear right now and has at least 45 DraftKings points in three straight games. With Rozier out again, I have no issue going back to him in a great matchup against the Magic. Ish Smith has picked up some of the slack with Rozier out playing around 20 minutes per night, but on a big slate, I imagine we will have better value than him. LaMelo Ball has the largest ceiling on this team and is a guy I’m good with at a fair price tag as well. I like the matchup here for all these Hornets due to how bad the Magics are on defense. Lastly, Gordon Hayward and Mason Plumlee are solid secondary GPP pieces, Hayward has had back-to-back down games but gets a perfect bounce-back spot here. From the Magic, Cole Anthony came back down to Earth last time out after putting up 60+ fantasy points against the Knicks. He still performed well against the Heat, however, but his price has come up now on FanDuel as well which is where we were targeting him for the most part. He’s more of a GPP guy for me at this price tag. It seems as if the Magic are going to have Mo Bama and Wendell Carter Jr. play next to each other a good bit this season. Both guys are interesting here, as I love targeting big men against this Hornets team even with the Plumlee acquisition. I like Bamba’s fantasy production and upside a bit better, but both are in play again here. Then the last guy I really have any interest in is Jalen Suggs, he’s going to keep playing solid minutes for this team, but you can throw Franz Wagner in with him as guys that will probably be in play if you’re 150 entering. Lastly, I do like the price tag on Terence Ross for tournaments, but we saw his floor last time out which is nearly zero, but comes with a big ceiling if he’s hitting his shots.
5-star play: Miles Bridges
4-star play: LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, Cole Anthony, Mo Bamba
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Mason Plumlee, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter Jr., Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, Terence Ross

Washington Wizards @ Boston Celtics
Vegas Total: 226.5
Vegas Spread: Bos -4.5
Starting with the Wizards, Bradley Beal returned last game and played 32 minutes, but didn’t do a whole lot with them. He scored 23.6 FanDuel points in those minutes, but does get a solid matchup here if you’re looking to go back to him at what I would assume is low ownership on a big slate. Spencer Dinwiddie came back down to Earth with him back as well (and not going into double overtime as they did against the Pacers), at this price tag, I’m willing to just ignore Dinwiddie with Beal back. Kyle Kuzma has started the season looking great for this Wizards team, he did come down a little bit last time out but I like targeting wings and big men against the Celtics, so I don’t hate him as a secondary GPP option. Montrezl Harrell and Daniel Gafford continue to share this frontcourt which is going to be frustrating from a DFS perspective, on a big slate I don’t think we need to go with either of them. From the Celtics, Jaylen Brown now has two games with at least 54 FanDuel points this season but man his price is up there, particularly on FanDuel where he’s $8.8k. If you’re going to get exposure to him, I would do it on DraftKings where he’s $1k cheaper. Jayson Tatum looked good in that game against the Hornets as well which turned out to be a shootout. I just don’t know that I can stomach that price tag on a ten-game slate with other starts around his price range. I’ll continue to get to Robert Williams just because he’s a point-per-minute monster and this is a great matchup for him and all big men alike. You can throw Al Horford into that category. He sat out the last game but I would think that was more for precautionary reasons than anything, he’s looked great in his first two games and someone I’m willing to go right back to at this price tag. Then you can round this team out with secondary GPP options in Marcus Smart and Dennis Schroeder.
5-star play: Jaylen Brown (DraftKings)
4-star play: Bradley Beal, Kyle Kuzma, Jayson Tatum, Robert Williams, Al Horford
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Montrezl Harrell, Daniel Gafford, Marcus Smart, Dennis Schroeder
Miami Heat @ Brooklyn Nets
Vegas Total: 218.0
Vegas Spread: Bkn -4.5
Starting with the Heat, Jimmy Butler looked great last time out against the Magic going for 52.25 DraftKings points. I love targeting him against the Nets in this spot, but don’t know how much I love the price tag on a big slate. He’s more of a GPP guy than anything for me. Speaking of guys that played well, Tyler Herro continues to play well carrying over his performance from the preseason. He’s playing good minutes and doing a bunch with them, he has at least 31 DraftKings points in each game this season. His price tag has come up for obvious reasons but still a guy I don’t mind getting some ownership to. This leads me to Kyle Lowry, he’s more of a floor manager on this team, I’ll make him prove me wrong, which he hasn’t yet before I go back to him. I do like targeting big men against this Nets team with their lack of a combination of athleticism and size. They have the athleticism in Claxton but he doesn’t have the size to hang with Adebayo, where Aldridge and Millsap are probably too slow at this point in their careers, Bam Adebayo is a guy I’ll get some exposure to here as well. He’s always got a nice floor and the upside is certainly there in this spot. Then you can round this team out with Duncan Robinson as a GPP dart. From the Nets, we kind of know the deal by now that Kyrie Irving is going to continue to be out for them, it’s going to be hard not to just go right back to Kevin Durant and James Harden. Harden finally did get his price bumped on DraftKings however. Not only that but he hasn’t exactly been the Harden that we’re used to this season. Although a 29.9% usage rate and 1.28 fantasy points doesn’t sound all that terrible, Durant is boat racing him with ha 33.3% usage rate and 1.63 fantasy points per minute on the season. If you have the extra couple hundred dollars, I would get to Durant but still think they’re both solid options even in a tough matchup. Outside of them there really isn’t much that you need to prioritize from this team, they’re more GPP darts than anything.
5-star play: Kevin Durant, James Harden
4-star play: Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Joe Harris, Patty Mills
Atlanta Hawks @ New Orleans Pelicans
Vegas Total: 220.0
Vegas Spread: Atl -6.0
Starting with the Hawks, it sounds like Danilo Gallinari is going to be questionable again heading into this one. If he’s forced to miss we’d likely see more shots/opportunities for wing guys like De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish. Hunter missed the last game but is expected back here which will take away from a guy like Reddish who Keg used in his $100k lineup above (again congrats!). Hunter and Reddish are more of tournament guys with both active but will see good minutes regardless of Gallinari’s availability. Trae Young had his best game of the season last time out going for 51.3 FanDuel points and a guy you can go right back to here in a great matchup with the Pelicans. John Collins has a reasonable price tag as well, but probably more of a guy I’d want in tournaments due to his perceived volatility, which part of me thinks he’s since kicked, but will need a larger sample size. Clint Capela still hasn’t been able to get over 30 minutes on the season, I’ll likely wait until he’s getting full run before I go to roster him. Then you can round this team out with those wing players in Hunter, Reddish, Kevin Huerter, and Bogdan Bogdanovic. For the price tag, Hunter would be my favorite followed closely by Bogdanovic, it’s kind of crazy how deep this Hawks team is. From the Pelicans, Jonas Valanciunas has been a guy I’ve been all over in his past two games against the Wolves, and he crushed. That led to a pretty hefty price increase, but we know the ceiling that comes with him. Devonte’ Graham was another guy the staff and I were all over and looked good last time out. His price still feels too cheap for his role in this offense. With Zion off the court last season, Brandon Ingram was the guy you wanted with a 31.7% usage rate and 1.25 fantasy points per minute, he’s been consistent to start the season and gets a great matchup here. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a guy I’ll go back to in this one as well, I love targeting him in fast-paced games due to the amount he shoots. He has at least 34 DraftKings points in each game this season.
5-star play: Trae Young, Devonte’ Graham
4-star play: John Collins, Cam Reddish, Jonas Valanciunas, Brandon Ingram, Nickeil Alexander-Walker
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: De’Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Cam Reddish, Clint Capela, Kevin Huerter
Indiana Pacers @ Toronto Raptors
Vegas Total: 218.5

Starting with the Pacers, Caris LeVert seems to be making progress and is listed as questionable coming into this one. I’m still expecting he’s out, but if he does play it’s likely that he’s on a pretty firm minutes restriction so he would be a fade at this price tag but would impact these other wing guys more than anything. Just keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates surrounding this situation, for the sake of this article I’m going to operate under the assumption that he’s still out. Domantas Sabonis has looked great to start the season with at least 46 DraftKings points in each game, it’s a slower-paced game in this one but he’s matchup proof at this point. Malcolm Brogdon had his worst fantasy game of the season last time out but still didn’t kill you, I don’t love the matchup at this price tag but still, a guy that I think you need to at least consider as a secondary tournament option. The Myles Turner experience is a fun one, isn’t it? 64 DraftKings points one game, then a combined 24 over his past two games. He’s the ultimate tournament guy as usual. Lastly, assuming LeVert is out I have no issue going back to Chris Duarte as a secondary tournament option as well, he’s looked like the real deal to start his NBA career. From the Raptors, Scottie Barnes had the worst fantasy game of his young NBA career and it just happened to happen when DraftKings finally priced him up. He’s still going to play 30+ minutes here and a guy I don’t mind for GPPs in a great matchup. OG Anunoby has looked great over his last couple of games and will look to keep it going at a nice price tag here, he’s a really strong play in all formats. Fred VanVleet had his first 50 burger of the season last time out and we’ve seen guards crush the Pacers so far this season so he’s a guy I’ll go right back to here. Lastly, Precious Achiuwa has at least 25 minutes in his last three games and has looked good in those minutes, I have no issue going back to him here at what seems like too cheap of a price tag still.
5-star play: Domantas Sabonis, OG Anunoby, Fred VanVleet, Precious Achiuwa
4-star play: Malcolm Brogdon, Myles Turner, Scottie Barnes, Chris Duarte
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Myles Turner, Chris Duarte

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Milwaukee Bucks
Vegas Total: NA
Vegas Spread: NA
Starting with the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns demolished the Pelicans last time out going for 68.3 FanDuel points. I have no issue going back to him here in a fast-paced matchup with Milwaukee. D’Angelo Russell was nearly impossible to get right as we got toward the back-end of the season last year and looks like he may carry that into this season going for 40 fantasy points in game one, 28 last time out and 14 in between… the full D-loading experience! He’ll be a GPP only guy due to the high-paced game. Anthony Edwards continues to see his price climb, but for good reason. He picked up right where he left off last season as one of the best young scorers in the league. I’m at the point with Malik Beasley where he’s just going to have to prove it to me before I go back to him especially on a ten-game slate. You can make a case for Jaden McDaniels as a GPP value guy if you’re multi-entering, but not a guy I’m getting too crazy on. From Milwaukee, Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez have already been ruled out for this one. It does sound like Bobby Portis will return here which would hurt the minutes for Jordan Nwora, but another case where we’ll keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates, as we may see him get the start at the five with Lopez out, I would have a ton of interest in him in that scenario (I may anyway based on this price tag). With Jrue Holiday, Donte DiVincenzo and Brook Lopez off the court last season, below are how the Bucks operated:
- Giannis Antetokounmpo – 34.9% usage rate; 1.82 fantasy points per minute
- Khris Middleton – 32.4% usage rate; 1.11 fantasy points per minute
- Pat Connaughton – 12.7% usage rate; 0.71 fantasy points per minute
- Bobby Portis – 21.6% usage rate; 1.12 fantasy points per minute
They obviously didn’t have guys like George Hill and Grayson Allen last season which will impact these numbers a little bit but gives you an idea of what to expect from them. I love the matchup against the Wolves who have been playing really fast this season, so I do like these guys in what should be a game that is beneficial for DFS.
5-star play: Karl-Anthony Towns, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis (if he’s not on a minutes limit)
4-star play: Anthony Edwards
Deeper Value: Bobby Portis, George Hill
GPP Sleeper: D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Nwora, Grayson Hill
Los Angeles Lakers @ Oklahoma City Thunder

This is a game we’re going to need to watch the Breaking News Feed on. We saw LeBron James sit last night and he comes in as questionable, as well as Anthony Davis. My thinking yesterday is that LeBron would sit yesterday and Davis would sit tonight, as they try to manage their workload on back-to-backs. It honestly wouldn’t shock me if they both sat here given the matchup with the Thunder, they might be the worst team in the league. If one or both of them sit, Russell Westbrook immediately becomes an elite option and would open the door for more usage or these ancillary pieces. My advice would be to keep an eye on the injury report today as well as that Breaking News Feed, we’ll make sure to have all the info you need in this one. From the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s price has been all over the place and is too cheap again here. He’s a great play on both sites at this price tag with a great individual matchup against Westbrook. I was all over Darius Bazley in yesterday’s game but he just didn’t get the minutes for some reason, he’ll be strictly a GPP play moving forward for me due to his volatility. Josh Giddey continues to get it done in all areas, he’s a stat sheet stuffer and saw his DraftKings price come crashing down for this one, he’s a great mid-range option. The last guy I would have any sort of real interest in on a big slate is Lu Dort, he’s a GPP only guy due to his volatility as well, but we know he has a ceiling if he can knock down his three’s and rack up some steals.
5-star play: Lakers TBD, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey (DraftKings)
4-star play: Lakers TBD, Lu Dort
Deeper Value: Lakers TBD
GPP Sleeper: Lakers TBD, Darius Bazley, Lu Dort
I wanted to give a quick shoutout to staff member – wwegner on nailing opening night, great start to the season! He locked in Bjelica, Nwora, and Poole to the tune of $2k+!
Sacramento Kings @ Phoenix Suns
Vegas Total: 226.0
Vegas Spread: Pho -8.0
Starting with the Kings, De’Aaron Fox hasn’t started the season all that great and gets a tough matchup with a good defensive team in the Suns here. At this price tag, he’s probably just a tournament guy for me on both sites, but we do know his ceiling is massive. Then we get to the group of Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield, and Tyrese Haliburton who are all solid secondary options. Barnes is going to be your most consistent and has started the season really well but will also be the most expensive. Then, Richaun Holmes owns this frontcourt right now with Marvin Bagley essentially being out of the picture, I have no issue getting to him especially on DraftKings at this price tag, the price on FanDuel is much more expensive. From the Suns, they’re generally not a team I get to all that often due to how spread out they can be but this is an awesome matchup for them. Devin Booker will be a GPP guy for me, we haven’t seen him pay off his price tag yet this season, but he can score in bunches when he gets it going in a great matchup. Chris Paul fell off against the Blazers after putting up 53 DraftKings points against the Lakers, but it’s the same story here, just GPPs for me. DeAndre Ayton has been all over the place as well, he had a floor game last time out against the Blazers, but gets a great bounce-back spot here, so a solid secondary option at this price. Then you can round this team out with GPP darts in guys like Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder.
5-star play: Richaun Holmes (DraftKings)
4-star play: De’Aaron Fox, Harrison Barnes, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Chris Paul, Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder
Memphis Grizzlies @ Portland Trailblazers
Vegas Total: 234.0
Vegas Spread: Por -2.0
Starting with the Grizzlies where we have a massive implied total at 234 with two bad defensive teams. DraftKings finally got Desmond Bane and De’Anthony Melton priced up after being in the $3k’s for the first week, but I don’t know that it was enough of a price bump. They’re both still averaging over 30 DraftKings points per game so their $5k and below price tags are still too cheap assuming they stick to their season averages. Ja Morant is an elite play especially for tournaments in an awesome matchup against the Blazers here. He’s coming off a 65.75 fantasy points performance against the Lakers and just looks like he’s going to take a massive step this season. Jaren Jackson is a solid play as well due to the pace in this one, he’s generally a guy I like in these pace-up spots. Lastly, Steven Adams has looked pretty good to start the season going for at least 33 DraftKings points in each game this season, I have no issue getting to him even in a tough individual matchup with Jusuf Nurkic. From the Blazers, Damian Lillard has not looked good to start the season and is coming off an 18 point fantasy game last time out with the Clippers where he shot 0-8 from behind the three-point line. That being said, man, the FanDuel price is getting hard to ignore at $8.2k, I’ll list him as an elite play over there and just deal with it if he has another bad shooting game. Jusuf Nurkic is another guy who had a bad game last time out but is someone I have no issue going back to here. Adams can be a beast to deal with in the paint but they’ll obviously need his size and he’s always been a good point per minute guy. CJ McCollum has started the season sneaky good and taken a lot of that production from Dame, I have no issue going right back to him in this spot but probably more of a secondary option.
5-star play: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane (DraftKings), De’Anthony Melton (DraftKings), Damian Lillard (FanDuel)
4-star play: Damian Lillard (DraftKings), CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Steven Adams, Jaren Jackson
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Kyle Anderson
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Los Angeles Clippers
Vegas Total: 217.0
Vegas Spread: Lac -8.0
We round the slate out with kind of an ugly game, and honestly, all games with the Cavs are ugly right now. Darius Garland returned last time out and didn’t appear to be limited at all, so I would expect he’s a full go here. I do like the price tag on him here in what should be a nice pace-up spot for them. Ricky Rubio slid back to the bench with Garland back and lost some of those starters minutes, and at this price tag probably not a guy I’ll get to on a big slate. Collin Sexton has been all over the place to start the season but it’s hard to ignore the price tag at under $7k on DraftKings. Jarrett Allen looked good last time out in a tough matchup and now gets a good matchup against a weak Clippers frontcourt, so I do like going back to him in this spot. Evan Mobley is the guy I’m going to keep looking toward in this frontcourt. The rookie has looked more than legit to start the season and has a really nice price tag on FanDuel. Lastly, Lauri Markkanen and Kevin Love are more of GPP type plays for me with Markkanen being closer to the cash game fringe due to his production and minutes security early on this season. From the Clippers, Paul George had a down game after he opened up the season looking great with 55+ fantasy points in both games and should continue to thrive with Kawhi Leonard out. With Kawhi off the court last season George had a 35.1% usage rate and 1.32 fantasy points per minute. I have no issue going back to him here but man the price tag is getting tough especially on a big slate with a lot of options. Eric Bledsoe had his worst game as a Clippers last time out but lost a good amount of minutes due to a blowout against the Blazers, I don’t have an issue getting back to him at this price tag. With Marcus Morris out for the Clippers, we should see guys like Terance Mann, Luke Kennard, and Nicolas Batum see an increase in opportunities, my favorite of the group being Mann and Kennard, as they’re a bit more aggressive on offense. Mann looked really good last time out and I love the price tag on him.
5-star play: Jarrett Allen, Terance Mann
4-star play: Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Evan Mobley, Lauri Markkanen, Paul George, Eric Bledsoe, Ivica Zubac, Reggie Jackson
Deeper Value: Terance Mann
GPP Sleeper: Ivica Zubac, Kevin Love, Lauri Markkanen, Luke Kennard, Nicolas Batum
