NFL Week 3 WR-CB Expolitable Match-Ups to Attack or Fade! DFS Fanduel or Draftkings

Week 3 NFL WR-CB Match-up Breakdown:

Get your NFL DFS research rolling with this week’s match-up breakdown. We will take a look at a few guys that I think are in a great spot based on the match-ups along with a few guys that I might look to go underweight on.

***Disclaimer*** Realize that we have just 2 weeks of data to go off of this season. Teams are going to move guys around as they learn to attack match-ups. The numbers I will quote in this article reflect just the 2 weeks of action. Let’s dig into the week 3 match-ups and find guys to go overweight on guys to go underweight on!

3 Guys in great NFL Match-ups being overlooked (ownership % wise):

Donovan Peoples-Jones (CLE) vs Duke Shelley: The Bears have been hit hard in the slot to begin the season and Shelley has allowed roughly 0.6 fantasy points per route. He’s being targeted on nearly 30% of coverage snaps. If we think that Peoples-Jones runs 35 routes against him, we are talking about 10 targets and Shelley has allowed a catch rate of 88% on the season. DPJ is dangerous with the ball in his hands so a quick route out of the slot could end up with a house call from deep. Right now we have DPJ at 1.7% on DK and 0.1% on FD, which creates a ton of leverage on the field with OBJ back.

Laviska Shenault Jr (JAX) vs Byron Murphy: Shenault is certainly going to be higher owned than DPJ but the reason he makes this list is that he’s not projected as the highest owned on his team. He is averaging about 1.5 targets per game less than MJJ is receiving but the reason he is so far behind MJJ is that he and Lawrence haven’t clicked yet. We have Shenault projected at 5.2% on both sites with MJJ projected at over 8% on FD. A couple of things that stand out as far as Murphy goes, he allows about 5.7 fantasy points for every 10 routes against him and he’s been the most targeted DB for ARI so far this season. While Shenault has an extremely low aDot, Murphy has allowed an aDot of nearly 15 yards and an average of 11.4 yards per target.

JuJu Smith-Shuster (PIT) vs Mike Hilton: With Diontae out, I was shocked to see JuJu projected to be the 4th highest owned WR in this game. People love the shiny Chase along with the big play possibility of Claypool but with Ben’s pec injury, I could see them getting the ball out of his hands even quicker. Hilton has been targeted on 29% of his defensive snaps while allowing 0.64 points per snap. That’s a pretty strong number and we know JuJu will run plenty of routes (about 39 per game so far). We have him projected at 3.4% on DK and 3.8% on FD as of Saturday morning.

WR/CB Matchups NFL

2 Guys who we might be overlooking the match-up on:

Calvin Ridley (ATL) vs James Bradberry: Bradberry has turned himself into an elite CB and will be shadowing the opposition’s top NFL WR. He will follow guys into the slot so we shouldn’t see much reprieve for Ridley in this spot. I know that Ridley is a great WR but I think this match-up should drop him down the list. Right now we have him projected as the 14th highest owned WR on FD and the 12th highest owned on DK. Teams just aren’t going to try and target Bradberry much so maybe you should look at Pitts and Zaccheaus in this spot.

Keenan Allen (LAC) vs L’Jarius Sneed: This one is tough to write about because I totally understand using Allen in a high-totaled game. I am not going to convince you to fade him but what this might do is convince you to lower his exposure while increasing the other LAC pieces in your game stacks. Sneed has been targeted on just 5% of his snaps and 9% of his coverage routes. He has allowed just 0.07 fantasy points per defensive snap. We have Allen as the 8th highest owned WR on FD and the 6th highest on DK. We have him twice as owned as Williams on DK and 6x as owned as a guy like Jared Cook on FD.
