New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints

Vegas odds:

Total: 43.5

Line: NO -8.5

Rundown:

We start week 4 off with the New York Football Giants as they head down to New Orleans to take on the Saints. If I’m being completely honest, from first look this game is looking like a bit of a stay away for me. The Saints have an above-average defense, particularly against the run, and with this Giants wide receiver core being banged up, I don’t really see a whole lot that I love here. The one guy I may find myself on is Evan Engram who returned last week and saw six targets on 56% of the team’s snaps. If the Giants are without either Darius Slayton or Sterling Shephard he could be in line for an additional target share. From the Saints, you can take a look at Alvin Kamara due to how weak this Giants defense is. He had a nice bounce-back game last week with 20 DraftKings points and has a nice shot to repeat that here with a nice upside in this matchup. I’m not sold on this Saints passing game just yet, particularly with how few pass-catching options they have. Jameis Winston has been held under 15 DraftKings points in his last two games, so not really any pieces I want to get to other than Kamara who has proven he may be their best pass-catching option on the team. Lastly, I don’t generally dig all that team into defensive options due to how volatile they are, but the Saints DST put up a nice game last week and Daniel Jones and this Giants offense are certainly no stranger to turnovers, so they’re a solid option, they have at least 15 DraftKings points in two of their three games this season.

5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Alvin Kamara, Evan Engram, Saints DST

GPP Note: I don’t really want to stack either of these offenses, more of just one-offs here for me.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Philadelphia Eagles

Vegas odds:

Total: 54.5

Line: KC -7.0

Rundown:

This game is tied with the Rams and Cardinals for the highest implied total on the slate, so we should be able to find some DFS gold in this one. We’ll start with the Chiefs side of things, I think the Eagles had people tricked into thinking their defense was competent after the first two weeks, but the Cowboys exposed them on Monday Night Football in week three. It turns out a good or even above-average offense should be able to move the ball on them just fine. The Chiefs are a team that I’ll look to get to a good amount in this spot. I will say, the Eagles run defense is probably a bit more legit than their pass defense, but Ezekiel Elliot was still able to get things going last week. I mention this because Clyde Edwards-Helaire projects as the second-best point per dollar running back on the week according to the Domination Station below on DraftKings.

Edwards-Helaire had a nice bounce-back game last week after starting the season extremely slow. I think if you want to make your Chiefs stacks a little different you can include him in with your Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill/Travis Kelce stacks due to his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He makes for a nice one-off play for cash games as well due to the discount you’re getting on him. Outside of him, the rest of this Chiefs offense is firmly in play, the Eagles won’t have an answer for Hill and Kelce in the passing game. From the Eagles, I think Jalen Hurts has proven he’s a quarterback we’re going to have to have interest in all year long. He looked terrible on Monday Night Football this week but due to his rushing upside, he still ended the week with 25.5 DraftKings points. He’s one of those quarterbacks that I don’t think you necessarily need to play one of his receivers with and can run out there naked. However, with how high-powered the Chiefs offense is, he’s going to have to throw the ball here so I don’t hate taking a shot on pairing him with a DeVonta Smith or Jalen Reagor. Miles Sanders has kind of fallen off since week one where he started the season strong. He had just two rushing attempts last week as the Eagles got behind early forcing them to have to throw the ball. I think this is another one of those games where they’re going to be throwing all game, so probably not a guy I’ll get to in this one.

5-star plays: Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Clyde Edwards-Helaire

4-star plays: Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor

GPP Note: Both of these teams are stackable in their own way due to the total on this one, I would have a strong lean toward the Chiefs side, but that’s not to say the Eagles aren’t firmly in play. They’re going to have to throw the ball to keep up in this one.

Houston Texans @ Buffalo Bills

Vegas odds:

Total: 47.5

Line: Buf -16.5

Rundown:

This game has pretty easily the highest spread on the slate with the Bills favored by over 16 points. That being said, we’ll start with the Texans side of things (if there is anything). I suppose you could make a case for Brandin Cooks who saw 11 targets from rookie Davis Mills last week and now has at least 15 FanDuel points in each game this season. However, he will likely get Tre’Davious White treatment on the other end of this one, so I don’t see myself going there on the main slate. Then the rest of this team is really just a stay away from me. From the Bills, this whole offense is essentially in play due to the matchup. Josh Allen put on a show last week going for 40 DraftKings points and is projected to be the highest-scoring quarterback on the week on DraftKings according to the Domination Station below with a perfect 100 rating.

Surprisingly, Stefon Diggs didn’t do all that much in that game, but still did enough not to kill your lineups. I have no issue going right back to him here, he’s going to blow up one of these weeks and I want to be on him when he does. You can probably make a case for Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders here as well if you’re looking to double stack with Allen, but neither of them are priorities. Zack Moss looks like the running back you want to play in this backfield, he saw 56% of the snaps and now has at least 16 DraftKings points in each of his games this season. If we assume the Bills get up early, he should see a good amount of carries here. Lastly, the Bills defense is firmly in play here due to the matchup, but you will be paying through the nose for them.

5-star plays: Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs

4-star plays: Brandin Cooks, Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley, Zack Moss, Bills DST

GPP Note: The Bills will be one of the better stacking offenses on the slate due to the matchup, but I’m having a hard time finding a Texans player that I want to run it back with.

I quickly want to shout out VIP member ‘bobbywow1’ for his success in NFL DFS last season, as he took home $1,000,000 cash on the FanDuel main slate last season. I know he’s ready to put our VIP tools back to use for this season!

Carolina Panthers @ Dallas Cowboys

Vegas odds:

Total: 50.5

Line: Dal -5.0

Rundown:

We’ll start with the Carolina side of things where they’ll be without star running back Christian McCaffrey, meaning next man up. For the Panthers, it will be Chubba Hubbard who handled a majority of the backfield duties when McCaffrey went down last week. I’ll give DraftKings and FanDuel credit, they priced Hubbard appropriately knowing his increase in workload this week instead of forcing you to play him at a stupid price tag. Hubbard was involved in both the pass and run game and is a fine one-off option this week against Dallas. As for the rest of the Panthers offense, DJ Moore has been a monster to start the season and has at least 11 targets in back-to-back games, he’s a solid option here as well. The GPP guy in the wide receiver room for the Panters will be Robby Anderson who has been pretty quiet since week one. He’s not the type of guy I want to get to in cash, but if you’re entering 150 lineups, I have no issue getting a couple of shares of him, as he has slate-breaking speed. Lastly, you can probably make a case for Sam Darnold here in tournaments, the Panthers will likely have to throw a lot in this game due to how fast the Cowboys can put up points and without McCaffery back there they may lean on the passing game a bit more not to mention Darnold has looked solid early on for his new team. From Dallas, Dak Prescott has a perfect 100 rating in the Domination Station this week and looks to be a bit underpriced on both DraftKings and FanDuel, I have no issue going with him as your quarterback and grabbing some of his pass-catchers. CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper both had quiet games last week, as it was Ezekiel Elliot and Dalton Shultz that did the heavy lifting for this offense, but I have no problem going right back to these guys especially with Michael Gallup still out. Speaking of Elliot, he has increased his fantasy production each week this season, so if we’re going by that pattern he should be in line for another great game here, he’s a solid option at running back as well. Lastly, I do think you can go back to Dalton Shultz as a cheap tight end option, he has played at least 69% of the team’s snaps in each game this season and is a guy Prescott has looked for over the middle of the field.

5-star plays: Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb

4-star plays: Sam Darnold, DJ Moore, Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliot

GPP Note: If I’m stacking one of these teams it will likely be the Cowboys, just because I think that offense is much better and they make for a pretty easy stack with Prescott and his receiving options in Cooper and Lamb. You can even get creative and throw Elliot and Shultz into your stacking player pool.

Cleveland Browns @ Minnesota Vikings

Vegas odds:

Total: 53.0

Line: Cle -2.0

Rundown:

We’ll start with the Browns side in this one as they head up to Minnesota in a game with a solid 53 point implied total. I’m starting to think the Browns are going to be a team I’m not going to get a whole lot of stacks on this season due to how much they can score on the ground with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. They’re not the type of team to get the ball and score in a two-minute period but will run you to death and score on a long dragged-out drive with the occasional big play. That being said, Nick Chubb looks like an awesome play here, the Research Station has the Vikings ranked as the 28th defense against the run this season so look for him and Kareem Hunt to take advantage. Hunt is more of a secondary option with more boom/bust potential. Odell Beckham Jr. returned last week and looked pretty solid, he played on 64% of the team’s snaps and ended with 77 yards on nine targets. I would expect that snap number to continue to rise, but he definitely passed the eye test while he was out there and this Vikings secondary is pretty awful. Overall, from the Browns, I have a good amount of interest in one-off pieces but I just don’t think Mayfield has the upside to be in a GPP winning lineup. From the Vikings, we kind of know who the targets are here for Minnesota, they make it pretty easy on us as they have their fantasy contributors pretty condensed to Cousins, Cook, Thielen, and Jefferson. One thing we’ll need to keep an eye on is the status of Dalvin Cook, it sounds like he’s truly questionable as we head into Sunday, if he’s out again we can go right back to the Alexander Mattison well. That being said, the Browns have one of the better run defenses in the league, so I may be more likely to go to the air in this one. Kirk Cousins has been great from a fantasy perspective and has at least 25 DraftKings points in each game this season and we know the ball is going to find Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen, both make great options to pair with Cousins if you’re looking to stack this offense. KJ Osbourne was a popular value option in week three but only saw two targets which were a season-low. I have no issue going back to him in tournaments, as people will likely jump off after putting up a dud last week. He still saw 59% of snaps in that game and should continue to be a part of this offense. Lastly, Tyler Conklin makes for an interesting value tight end option, he has played at least 71% of snaps in each game this season.

5-star plays: Nick Chubb, Justin Jefferson

4-star plays: Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook (if active), Adam Thielen, Tyler Conklin (value), Odell Beckham Jr., Kareem Hunt

GPP Note: As I mentioned, I don’t know how much I’ll be stacking the Browns this season, which is odd since they have a nice offense. However, the Vikings passing game looks like a solid stack if you’re looking to get different in GPPs.

Indianapolis Colts @ Miami Dolphins

Vegas odds:

Total: 43.5

Line: Mia -1.5

Rundown:

The game total on this one kind of sucks, both of these defenses are really solid and is probably a better real NFL game than a fantasy game. That being said, we’ll start with the Colts. I think there’s only one piece from the Colts that I’ll have much interest in here and it’s Jonathan Taylor. I’m buying low on him hard this week in most of my season-long leagues, he’s started the season slow, but I’m expecting him to break out any week now. It may not be this week but the Dolphins are middle of the pack against opposing running backs, so I have no issue getting to him as a one-off. Michael Pittman Jr. has been really solid to start the season, but he will likely get shadow treatment from Xavien Howard who is one of the best cornerbacks in the league, so I’ll wait for a better spot to play him. From the Dolphins, Jacoby Brissett actually looked pretty solid last week filling in for the injured Tua Tagovailoa. He scored 20 FanDuel points, but I think he’s pretty similar to Teddy Bridgewater. He’s probably a better real-life game manager than a fantasy impactor. You can run him out there as a high floor guy, but I just don’t see the ceiling with his pass-catchers to get you there in tournaments. The price tag on both sites is nice on him, however, so if you want to get exposure in cash games or even a sprinkle in tournaments paired up with DeVante Parket, Jaylen Waddle, or Will Fuller, I have no issue with that. After all, he does have the second-best point per dollar projection among quarterbacks on DraftKings according to the Domination Station below.

5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Jonathan Taylor, Jacoby Brissett

GPP Note: I won’t be stacking either of these teams.

Tennessee Titans @ New York Jets

Vegas odds:

Total: 46.0

Line: Ten -7.5

Rundown:

We’ll start things off with the Titans, and I think we may run into the top running back option on the slate here. Derrick Henry should do absolutely whatever he wants in this one. The Jets look awful, as usual, meaning the Titans should get up in a hurry whether that’s due to Henry or not, he will get a bunch of touches in this one. He has a 94 rating in the Research Station and has shown some pass-catching abilities this season, he’s an elite option on all sites. We will need to keep an eye on the rest of this Titans offense, both Julio Jones and AJ Brown come into this one as questionable, if one or both of them miss it would set up more snaps for guys like Chester Rogers and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. I went more in-depth on this situation in my DFS Main Slate Injury Report article below.

DFS Main Slate Injury Report Week 4 – Daily Fantasy Sports Outlook

Not only that but would be even more reason for the Titans to lean on Henry in this one. For the most part, I think this offense is still up in the air outside of Henry, but certainly, something to keep an eye on. From the Jets, the game script sets up well for them to be throwing the ball a ton in this one and Corey Davis gets himself a nice revenge game against his old squad. If we take a look at the Domination Station below, we’ll see that the Titans are 32nd in the league in DvP against opposing wide receivers. I LOVE the idea of making a mini-stack of Derrick Henry and running it back with Corey Davis from the Jets side.

I suppose you could get silly for the milly and make a full stack with Zach Wilson/Corey Davis and run it back with Derrick Henry on the Titans side, but we might be reaching at that point. We just know how bad this Titans secondary can be and seems to set up nicely.

5-star plays: Derrick Henry, Corey Davis

4-star plays: Zach Wilson, AJ Brown, and Julio Jones (if active)

GPP Note: As I mentioned, I love a Derrick Henry and Corey Davis mini-stack, and don’t think you’re crazy if you wanted to throw Zach Wilson in there in large-field tournaments.

Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears

Vegas odds:

Total: 42.5

Line: Chi -3.0

Rundown:

Do we need to talk about this one…? What a gross game between two bad teams, that said, there might be some DFS plays we can salvage from both sides. We’ll start with the Lions, where I think you know where we’re going. It’s D’Andre Swift and that’s really it for me. I was all over Swift last week and a guy I’ll go right back to the well with in this one. He’s just underpriced on both sites compared to his production so far. It was frustrating last week watching Jamaal Williams get 49% of the team’s snaps, but it’s pretty clear who the better running back is on this team. I like him as a one-off option and that’s about it from the Lions for me, outside of a GPP dart on the Lions DST against the Bears offense that we’ll dive into right now. I’m sure you’ve heard all the crazy stats about how bad the Bears offense was in week three and honestly, there seems to be no sign that this will change. Matt Nagy won’t give us a clear direction on where he’s going at quarterback, but for the sake of this offense, it may be better off with Andy Dalton at the helm. We’ll have to wait and see but let’s say Justin Fields gets the start again. I mentioned that Jacoby Brissett was projected to be the second-best point per dollar play at quarterback on DraftKings according to our NFL Optimizer. Guess who’s first? That’s right, Justin Fields at 3.82x his DraftKings price tag. I certainly won’t have the stones to play him in my lineups after what we saw in week three but I can’t say I blame you if you want to take the shot against his Lions defense. I do think you can make a case for David Montgomery no matter who starts at quarterback, the Lions are 32nd in the league in DvP against opposing running backs. I would prefer it be Dalton if you’re going heavy on Montgomery just because the Bears will have scripted run plays for Fields that they wouldn’t for Dalton, but Montgomery is in play regardless.

5-star plays: D’Andre Swift

4-star plays: Justin Fields, David Montgomery, Lions DST, Bears DST

GPP Note: Just one-offs in this one for me.

Washington Football Team @ Atlanta Falcons

Vegas odds:

Total: 48.0

Line: Was -1.5

Rundown:

We finish off the early slate of games starting with the Washington Football Team. I really think the Washington side of this one is pretty interesting especially for tournaments as they will likely get overlooked. The Falcons defense might just be the worst in the league at this point and Washington has proven they can still put up points with Tayor Heinicke in there. He has at least 20 FanDuel points in each of his starts this season with one coming against a really good Bills defense. I like stacking him up with Terry McLaurin who has massive upside in this spot and also like throwing Antonio Gibson in there as a double stack piece. Gibson is can be a monster in the receiving game as we saw last week with his 70+ yard reception touchdown, I love this spot for this Washington offense. From the Falcons, Mike Davis should continue to draw attention in this Falcons backfield at his current price tag. He hasn’t done anything spectacular to this point but has been solid enough if you’re looking for a cash game option. Cordarrelle Patterson is another piece you can look at in this backfield, he has at least seven targets in back-to-back games. Kyle Pitts has been frustrating but has seen his snap percentage rise in each game this season, so I have no issue going back to him especially in tournaments, he’s going to break out at some point. Lastly, I’m okay with getting some Calvin Ridley exposure but I don’t think it will be part of a stack with Matt Ryan, Ryan is going to have to prove he’s still got it before I go back to him at this point.

5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Taylor Heinicke, Antonio Gibson, Terry McLaurin, Logan Thomas, Calvin Ridley, Mike Davis, Kyle Pitts, Cordarrelle Patterson

GPP Note: I love the Washington stack as a sneaky GPP leverage stack against a terrible Atlanta defense.

Arizona Cardinals @ Los Angeles Rams

Vegas odds:

Total: 54.5

Line: LAR -4.5

Rundown:

Onto the afternoon games, and as I mentioned earlier, this game is tied for the highest implied total on the slate at 54.5, so we should be able to find some production in this one! We’ll start with the Cardinals where it’s hard not to like Kyler Murray right now. His legs and rushing ability give him such a high floor and ceiling that he’s an elite play pretty close to every week regardless of the matchup. The Rams have a really solid defense, but I actually might like Murray even more in these competitive games. we saw him have a down week last week as they took care of business against a bad Jaguars team. He’s a quarterback you can run naked without the need to stack with one of his receivers, although I still like doing so as he’s attempted at least 32 passes in each game this season. The Rams can be really tough on opposing running backs but I actually don’t hate Chase Edmonds in this spot. He’s not your typical up-the-middle sort of running back evident by his eight targets last week. They may have to run through the air with dump-offs to him in this game and looks like a solid option especially on DraftKings where you get the PPR bonus. The thing with these Cardinals receivers is the Rams’ secondary… the Domination Station has them ranked as 1st in DvP against opposing wide-outs, so maybe we get a bit underweight on the more expensive pieces? DeAndre Hopkins is obviously matchup proof, but wouldn’t you feel safer with a better matchup in that price range? AJ Green is an interesting piece to me, he has six targets in each game this season and he should avoid the Jalen Ramsey treatment along with Christian Kirk who has looked great to start the season as well. From the Rams, I think their air attack is where most of my interest will come in this game. Matthew Stafford has made one hell of a connection with Cooper Kupp who is averaging 32.4 DraftKings points per game in his first three games with Stafford throwing him the pigskin. That’s the type of player I’m referencing when I say would you rather spend your money on Hopkins against Ramsey or pay the extra $100 on DraftKings for Kupp against a bad Cardinals secondary? Robert Woods hasn’t had the same success, but I do think this is a spot where you can look to get to him at a discounted price tag. Lastly, I’m going to continue to have interest in Tyler Higbee at the wasteland of a position that tight end is. In such a high-powered offense he should continue to thrive.

5-star plays: Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp

4-star plays: Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk, Chase Edmonds, AJ Green, Robert Woods, Tyler Higbee

GPP Note: You can stack this game up pretty much any way you want and I would be good with it, great for fantasy production.

Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers

Vegas odds:

Total: 52.0

Line: SF -3.0

Rundown:

We’ll start with the Seahawks in this one as they head to San Fran for the other NFC West showdown. I think the curse of Tyler Lockett may have finally been broken last week. If you’ve been reading/following me on Twitter (@MadnessDFS), you know that I can never get Lockett right and last week I said it was a Metcalf week… and it sure was! Overall I just have more faith in Metcalf’s week-to-week production whereas Lockett is more of a best-ball type of guy for me. He’ll have games where he explodes but will also have something like we saw last week where he went 4 for 31. I don’t really expect this Seahawks offense to get a whole lot of attention on this slate, the Niners defense is good enough to scare people off, but I have no issue getting some Seahawk stacks with these high upside guys if I’m multi-entering. From the Niners, we finally saw life from Brandon Aiyuk against the Packers on Sunday Night Football last week. He played a season-high 86% of snaps and was a guy I was big on for the showdown slate. I like going right back to him here in GPPs. The snaps were the biggest concern and it seems like they are back, he and Deebo Samuel are solid options in the receiving game as they try to work out some sort of rushing attack. Speaking of the backfield it’s a mess right now. Trey Sermon got the start last week with Elijah Mitchell out, but sounds like Mitchell will be back in this one. At this point, this backfield is a hard stay away for me until we have clarity on who the guy will be… if there is one. Lastly, I love George Kittle in this spot, the Domination Station shows him to have a perfect 100 rating in this one and with the tight end landscape being the way it is, I love the upside.

5-star plays: George Kittle

4-star plays: Russell Wilson, DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel

GPP Note: Maybe a lineup or two of the Broncos stack if you’re entering 150 lineups, but that’s about it.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Green Bay Packers

Vegas odds:

Total: 45.5

Line: GB -7.0

Rundown:

We’ll start with the Ben “old man” Roethlisberger-led Steelers as they head into Lambeau. This offense is a bit hard to break down right now as we await the status of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson. Johnson did return to practice today, while Juju was out, so it appears at the least Johnson should be a go here. This is pretty significant news as you would think it impacts Najee Harris pretty directly. With Johnson out last week, Harris stepped into the role of catching those little two-yard check-downs and received a ridiculous 19 targets. That should come way down with Johnson back, although I still expect there to be targets there for Harris as I would think Johnson draws the Jaire Alexander treatment on defense. Chase Claypool is another guy that got double-digit targets last week with 15. He’s a skill set that the Packers have given up big games to in the past and a guy I like for GPPs as he has huge upside if Ben can get the ball down the field to him. I’ll have exactly zero interest in Ben Roethlisberger for DFS, he looks about as washed up as a quarterback can look. From the Packers, I think we’re just looking at the usual candidates – Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones, and Davante Adams… with Adams being the main piece. He might have had the quietest 132 yards and a touchdown game a player can have last week, he’s a stud, if you can play him, do it. I’m less thrilled about Jones against a tough Steelers run game, I would probably pivot to someone else in his price range.

5-star plays: Davante Adams

4-star plays: Najee Harris, Chase Claypool, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones

GPP Note: I don’t think I’ll be stacking up either side of this one, more mini-stacks, and one-offs in this one for me.

Baltimore Ravens @ Denver Broncos

Vegas odds:

Total: 44.5

Line: Den -1.5

Rundown:

Last but not least… maybe? This game is pretty ugly from a first look. I don’t think I’m really going to love any game with Denver in it this season. Their offense isn’t all that explosive and their defense is solid enough to keep the implied total down. That being said, I’ll start with the Ravens side of this one. There’s pretty much nothing I want here honestly. I suppose if you wanted to play Lamar Jackson naked as a one-off you could just because he has slate-breaking upside at minimal ownership, but I’d wait for a better matchup. That’s about it unless you think Marquise Brown is going to continue to get open and catch the touchdowns in this one. From the Broncos, it’s more of the same. The Ravens defense is solid and this offense isn’t all that as I mentioned. I don’t hate a Courtland Sutton one-off play, but again, there are better plays on this slate. What a way to end the day!

5-star plays: None

4-star plays: Lamar Jackson, Courtland Sutton
