Washington Wizards @ Indiana Pacers
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
Starting with the Wizards, Russell Westbrook just keeps going, as he triple doubled again the other night and I don’t see him slowing down as the Wizards have jumped close to the 8 seed and are looking to hold on. Bradley Beal has been playing really well as well, and you can even pair them, but my priority is going to be Westy. The Wizards are generally pretty easy to break down because it’s pretty much those two studs and then a bunch of dart throw GPP guys. My favorite being that center position with guys like Daniel Gafford, Alex Len, and Davis Bertans if they go small. That being said, it’s pretty clear Gafford is the guy. Now for the Pacers, it looks like the only injury news we’ll be waiting on here is Malcolm Brogdon and Jeremy Lamb who both come in as questionable here. I’m going to operate under the assumption that they play for the sake of this article. I like this game quite a bit for fantasy purposes, both teams have played really fast and loose this season, so there should be plenty of scoring opportunities here especially as it is the highest total game on the slate. Domantas Sabonis is a great play here, as he will have a ton of usage if Brogdon were to miss again as Turner is already out. Caris LeVert has been in good form as well, but I would prefer Brogdon to be out for me to go all that heavy on him due to the price tag he’s carrying. It seems like Oshae Brissett is going to hold onto that starting role, as Goga Bitadze played very sparingly the other night even though he was healthy. Overall, this is the game that I will be targeting the most as you have the two teams that play at the fastest pace in the league facing off against one another.
5-star play: Russell Westbrook, Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert, Bradley Beal
4-star play: Oshae Brissett, Malcolm Brogdon, Davis Bertans
Deeper Value: Oshae Brissett, Daniel Gafford, Alex Len
GPP Sleeper: Oshae Brissett, Daniel Gafford
Detroit Pistons @ Philadelphia 76ers
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
From the Pistons, I would think Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee may be in here, as I saw that at least Grant will play, along but Cory Joseph is still up in the air. Isaiah Stewart has not been playing well, but he isn’t in play for me if Plumlee is in. Saddiq Bey has been really good outside of a few bad shooting games, but he is in play for GPPs. Josh Jackson is a GTD as well, and if he is out then it opens up alot for Killian Hayes and Hamidou Diallo, if he is in then he is very much in play as he has a sky high ceiling with Jackson out. From the Sixers, Joel Embiid’s and the Sixers are on the 2nd half of a B2B, and this game should be pretty ugly. Assuming he gets his usual run, he’s an elite raw play as always. Ben Simmons isn’t a guy I’ve been getting to all that much, he just hasn’t looked that great. We know he has triple-double upside every time he’s on the court, but we just haven’t seen it. I don’t hate him for GPPs if you want to chase that upside, but I won’t go there in cash games. Tobias Harris had a nice game last time out and his price tag is getting to a more playable range, I don’t have an issue with him here. Outside of those three, I have a tough time finding a piece that I like from the Sixers, maybe Shake Milton if you’re thinking blowout? Seth Curry has also been on fire from 3 so he is in play for tournaments.
5-star play: Joel Embiid
4-star play: Jerami Grant, Saddiq Bey, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris
Deeper Value: Hamidou Diallo, Shake Milton, Seth Curry
GPP Sleeper: Shake Milton, Frank Jackson
Memphis Grizzlies @ Toronto Raptors
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
From the Grizzlies, Ja Morant has cooled down a bit from about a weak ago when he was dropping 60 point games left and right but he’s still been good, I just think the price is a bit too high for my liking on DK, but on FanDuel he is very much in play at that tag given the matchup against this bad Raptors defense. Jonas Valanciunas has a great matchup here as well, as he’s been playing really well and the Raptors don’t have anyone that can stop him here, and we do have a revenge factor here as they gave him up for basically nothing a few years ago. If Grayson Allen ends up missing we can go back to guys like De’Anthony Melton and secures the minutes on Dillon Brooks and Kyle Anderson a bit. From the Raptors, they are in dissarray right now, so we’ll need some news on guys before we can get too deep into it. Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry have already been ruled out, so this makes Pascal Siakam will have elite usage here and he is coming off one of his best games of the year the other night. OG Anunoby would also be a great play here if he suits up, and I’ll have a lot of Malachi Flynn as well as he’s going to be forced into big minutes once again here. Lastly, Khem Birch should continue to see good run as they try and see what they have in this guy, he’s a solid option on both sites.
5-star play: Ja Morant, Pascal Siakam
4-star play: OG Anunoby, Khem Birch, Malachi Flynn, Jonas Valanciunas, Jaren Jackson Jr.
Deeper Value: De’Anthony Melton, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson
GPP Sleeper: Malachi Flynn, Brandon Clarke
Brooklyn Nets @ Denver Nuggets
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
We’ll start with the Nets, Kyrie Irving has been playing really well outside of that one dud a few games ago, he is an elite play here as this Nuggets team really struggles against opposing PGs since Murray went down. Kevin Durant, has been playing well as well, and he’s firmly in play here in what should be a high scoring, competitive game. He’s more expensive on FanDuel but he helps fill a tough SF position. Outside of those two, it’s going to be tough for me to get much else from this game unless you want to take a flyer on guys like Joe Harris or Landry Shamet in hopes they can get hot from deep. You can make a case for DeAndre Jordan here for value, as well as Nic Claxton as he is back. Now for the Nuggets, things pretty much always start with Nikola Jokic who is averaging 1.7 FPPM with all these guys out for the Nuggets and this Nets defense is horrible. Michael Porter Jr. continues to put up good numbers as well, the price has come way up on him, but for good reason, he’s the number two option now with Murray out for Denver. Aaron Gordon just feels like he’s going to be a tough guy to predict for the rest of the season, he’s more of a deep GPP guy for me. PJ Dozier is out for this one as well, so Facundo Campazzo’s locked-in minutes become… more locked in, but we should see a good amount of Austin Rivers with him out. Both Rivers and Campazzo looked really good last time out and guys I think you can go right back to here.
5-star play: Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Nikola Jokic
4-star play: Facundo Campazzo, Michael Porter Jr., Joe Harris
Deeper Value: Austin Rivers, DeAndre Jordan, Nic Claxton
GPP Sleeper: Austin Rivers
Houston Rockets @ Utah Jazz
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
Starting with the Rockets, yikes… I’m going to throw this one to our Breaking News Feed, it’s really hard to break this team down right now with Christian Wood, Kelly Olynyk, Jae’Sean Tate, and Danuel House all listed as questionable with Kevin Porter Jr and Eric Gordon already out. We just need some news here before we can really dig into this team, so keep an eye on the status of these guys. However, if Kelly Olynyk is in then he is going to be a premier play for me in all formats. From the Jazz, Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley will continue to be out for this team. Rudy Gobert has an elite matchup here, but this game should be ugly as the Rockets hung in with the Bucks last night and I don’t see a repeat of that. Jordan Clarkson will continue to be a solid option, I just don’t love the price tag, but he feels pretty safe and has a solid ceiling with Mitchell and Clarkson off the court. Bojan Bogdanovic and Joe Ingles have been the guys to own lately, they’re both in really good form, and guys you can get to here while Royce O’Neale is more of a GPP guy.
5-star play: Kelly Olynyk
4-star play: Rudy Gobert, Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic, Joe Ingles
Deeper Value: Rockets guys…need news
GPP Sleeper: Bojan Bogdanovic
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Golden State Warriors
Vegas Total: 223.5
Vegas Spread: Gsw -14.5
Here we just saw how this game played out the other night, and the Warriors dominated so you’ll likely be wanting to target value guys from OKC and Golden State. From the Thunder, Lu Dort just continues to look good from a fantasy perspective, but he is a GTD again here, so if he misses then it opens up a lot for other guys. Darius Bazley has looked pretty good over his last handful of games, but I like the price tag much better on FanDuel. Theo Maledon has been solid but a bit underwhelming, although he had success here last game. Moses Brown has seemingly disappeared since signing that multi-year contract with the Thunder, he’s a deep MME guy for just because we know the ceiling is there somewhere. Isaiah Roby has been grabbing some of those Brown minutes and has looked pretty good as of late, I would rather take the chance on him and he doesn’t use up a center spot but I hate the price on FanDuel. Aleksej Pokusevski looks like he’ll be out here as well, which opens up more minutes for Gabriel Deck who has secretly been a FPPM monster when given the time. Ty Jerome also played solid minutes and put up 36 FPs last game. Now for the Warriors, Kelly Oubre is likely going to continue to be out here, so let’s run some numbers with Oubre off the court this season:
- Stephen Curry – 35.5% usage rate; 1.58 fpm
- Andrew Wiggins – 22.3% usage rate; 0.87 fpm
- Draymond Green – 13.2% usage rate; 1.07 fpm
- Kent Bazemore – 18.2% usage rate; 0.87 fpm
- Jordan Poole – 27.7% usage rate; 1.1 fpm
Curry and Green both went over the 60 point threshold on DraftKings the other night and are guys you can go right back to in this one. As a whole I think you can target the Warriors a decent amount, and we have one of the higher totals on the night, I’ll really be liking that Thunder value.
5-star play: Stephen Curry, Darius Bazley
4-star play: Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Isaiah Roby
Deeper Value: Jordan Poole, Kent Bazemore, Gabriel Deck, Moses Brown,, Ty Jerome
GPP Sleeper: Gabriel Deck, Ty Jerome
San Antonio Spurs @ Portland Trail Blazers
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
Starting with the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan threw up a dud last time out, but he bounced back last night like I though he would. Jakob Poeltl had to deal with Rudy Gobert over the past two games, so this will be a nice relief for him, I like going back to him here especially after he put up 40 FPs last night. Keldon Johnson came back to Earth last time out, we kind of know the story on him by now, he’s going to be a highly volatile player, so GPP only. Lastly, Lonnie Walker is a solid value option if you need one, his minutes should be pretty secure with Derrick White out for the remainder of the season. From the Blazers, they need to win this game to hold off the Lakers, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum are going to play all the minutes they can handle, they’re both great options here, they’re both cheaper on FanDuel as well if you’re looking to go heavier over there. The minutes on Jusuf Nurkic seem like they’re going to be in the lower 20’s more often than not, so he’s more of a GPP guy, but if they want to win, they’ll run him out there against Andre Drummond and let him go to town. Then you can round this team out with Norman Powell as a tournament-type player.
5-star play: DeMar Derozan, Damian Lillard
4-star play: Jakob Poeltl, CJ McCollum, Keldon Johnson, Dejounte Murray
Deeper Value: Jusuf Nurkic, Robert Covington, Patty Mills
GPP Sleeper: Lonnie Walker
