Chicago Bulls @ Charlotte Hornets
Vegas Total: 217.5
Vegas Spread: Chi -2.5
Starting with the Bulls, we’ll need some news on Nikola Vucevic, as he comes in as questionable here, but he did practice yesterday so that is a good sign. I’m going to operate under the assumption that he’s a go, but something to monitor as we get closer to lock. The big news here is that Zach LaVine will make his return here after missing the past 11 days but he may be limited here so it is something to keep an eye on. Thad Young is coming off a big game against the Hawks where he dropped 45.25 DraftKings points, he’s never a sexy play, but if he’s the last guy in your lineup it’s hard to dislike it. Lastly, you can make a case for cheap guys like Daniel Theis and Lauri Markkenen in GPPs if you’re looking at some MME-type plays especially on one of the lower total games of the day. Now for the Hornets, the big news here is that LaMelo Ball is back and the price is nice on FanDuel still, especially with Graham likely out again tonight. He does take away from guys like Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham but Graham has been out. Miles Bridges is still stuck in health protocols, so he’s out tonight which is a major boost to Jalen McDaniels and Caleb Martin. The price on PJ Washington he is likely back here after missing last game and I like him with Bridges out again here tonight. Devonte’ Graham is a GTD here, and if he is out then I’ll have even more interest in LaMelo and Rozier.
5-star play: Nikola Vucevic (if in), LaMelo Ball
4-star play: Terry Rozier, Jalen McDaniels, PJ Washington, Thad Young, Zach LaVine
Deeper Value: Lauri Markkanen, Jalen McDaniels, Caleb Martin
GPP Sleeper: Caleb Martin, Daniel Theis
Brooklyn Nets @ Dallas Mavericks
Vegas Total: 234
Vegas Spread: Bkn -4
This game has a massive implied total, and is the 2nd highest on the slate behind the Pacers game. We’ll start with the Nets, Kyrie Irving had a dud last time out but still saw 35 minutes, I like the price slightly better on DraftKings, but due to the matchup, you can get there on both sites. Kevin Durant, you can make a case for on both sites, as he is playing big minutes and looks back to his normal self. He’s more expensive on FanDuel but he helps fill a tough SF position. Outside of those two, it’s going to be tough for me to get much else from this game unless you want to take a flyer on guys like Joe Harris or Landry Shamet in hopes they can get hot from deep. You can make a case for DeAndre Jordan here for value, as well as Nic Claxton as he is back. Now for the Mavericks, Luka Doncic is in better form over the past week or two which is nice to see and is coming off a monster game a few nights ago, hopefully he can shutup and not get ejected here in what is a great matchup. If Kristaps Porzingis were to miss Luka would jump into elite play territory if he isn’t already there. I do have a little more interest in some of the other guys on this team than I normally would if Kristaps Porzingis were to miss. I loaded up on Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson in this spot the other night, so I think you can go right back to them in a fast-paced game against this Nets team. If Kleber misses as well you can get some Dwight Powell and Willie Cauley-Stein for value as well.
5-star play: Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Luka Doncic
4-star play: Tim Hardaway Jr., Jalen Brunson, Joe Harris
Deeper Value: DeAndre Jordan, Willie Cauley-Stein, Nic Claxton, Landry Shamet
GPP Sleeper: Nic Claxton, Tim Hardaway Jr.
Washington Wizards @ Toronto Raptors
Vegas Total: 233.5
Vegas Spread: Tor -1
From the Wizards, Russell Westbrook just keeps going, as he triple doubled again last night and I don’t see him slowing down as the Wizards have jumped into a playoff spot and are looking to hold on. Bradley Beal has been playing really well as well, and you can even pair them, but my priority is going to be Westy. The Wizards are generally pretty easy to break down because it’s pretty much those two studs and then a bunch of dart throw GPP guys. My favorite being that center position with guys like Daniel Gafford, Alex Len, and Davis Bertans if they go small. That being said, it’s pretty clear Gafford is the guy. From the Raptors, they are in dissarray right now, so we’ll need some news on guys before we can get too deep into it. Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam have been the most healthy of their trio, both are elite plays especially if Lowry is out again tonight. That said, we’ll operate under the assumption that they’re playing. Those two combined with Fred VanVleet will see huge minutes should they start and are all solid plays for me here, the nice thing with them is Nurse runs them into the ground when we get confirmation that they’re starting, so not like we need to worry about minutes, but again Lowry did miss last game so it is something to keep an eye on, but if he plays then obviously he is in play especially at that price on FanDuel. You can probably lump OG Anunoby into that group as well, but his price is a bit too high for me to really prioritize but it looks like he may miss this game as well. Lastly, Khem Birch should continue to see good run as they try and see what they have in this guy, he’s a solid option on both sites.
5-star play: Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal
4-star play: Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, Kyle Lowry (if in)
Deeper Value: Khem Birch Daniel Gafford, Davis Bertans
GPP Sleeper: Daniel Gafford
Memphis Grizzlies @ Detroit Pistons
Vegas Total: 221
Vegas Spread: Mem -10
From the Grizzlies, Ja Morant has cooled down a bit from about a weak ago when he was dropping 60 point games left and right but he’s still been good, I just think the price is a bit too high for my liking on DK, but on FanDuel he is very much in play at that tag given the matchup. Jonas Valanciunas has a great matchup here as well, as he’s been playing really well and the Pistons don’t have anyone that can stop him here. If Grayson Allen ends up missing we can go back to guys like De’Anthony Melton and secures the minutes on Dillon Brooks and Kyle Anderson a bit. From the Pistons, I would think Jerami Grant and Mason Plumlee may be in here, as I saw that at least Grant will play, along but Cory Joseph is still up in the air. Isaiah Stewart has not been playing well, but he isn’t in play for me if Plumlee is in. Saddiq Bey has been really good outside of a few bad shooting games, but he is in play for GPPs. Josh Jackson is out again here, which opens up alot for Killian Hayes and Hamidou Diallo, if he is in then he is very much in play as he has a sky high ceiling with Jackson out.
5-star play: Ja Morant, Jerami Grant
4-star play: Jonas Valanciunas, Mason Plumlee, Saddiq Bey, Killian Hayes, Hamidou Diallo, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson
Deeper Value: Isaiah Stewart, Killian Hayes, Hamidou Diallo, De’Anthony Melton, Dillon Brooks
GPP Sleeper: Hamidou Diallo, De’Anthony Melton
Atlanta Hawks @ Indiana Pacers
Vegas Total: 240
Vegas Spread: Atl -5
Starting with the Hawks, they’re beginning to get a bit healthier with Trae Young back and Bogdan Bogdanovic coming in as probable. It’s a nice matchup for both of them due to the defense that the Pacers have been playing, I don’t exactly love the price tag on Bogdanovic with Young in there but he’s proved he can be successful still, so no complaints. John Collins is more of a GPP guy due to his volatility but this is the type of game where I like to target him, still more of a tournament guy though. Clint Capela is a fine option but he hasn’t been great, but the Pacers have been getting killed by bigs with Turner out. Lastly, Kevin Huerter makes for a solid filler piece in GPPs if you happen to land on him, but not a guy I’m prioritizing. Now for the Pacers, it looks like the only injury news we’ll be waiting on here is Malcolm Brogdon and Jeremy Lamb who both come in as questionable here. I’m going to operate under the assumption that they play for the sake of this article. I like this game quite a bit for fantasy purposes, both teams have played really fast and loose this season, so there should be plenty of scoring opportunities here especially as it is the highest total game on the slate. Domantas Sabonis is a great play here, as he will have a ton of usage if Brogdon were to miss again as Turner is already out. Caris LeVert has been in good form as well, but I would prefer Brogdon to be out for me to go all that heavy on him due to the price tag he’s carrying. It seems like Oshae Brissett is going to be a fade going forward, as Goga Bitadze played last night and ate into his production, Brissett will only be playable for me if Goga is out tonight.
5-star play: Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert, Trae Young
4-star play: Bogdan Bogdanovic, John Collins, Clint Capela
Deeper Value: Kevin Huerter, TJ McConnell, Dough McDermott
GPP Sleeper: Caris LeVert
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Golden State Warriors
Vegas Total: 228.5
Vegas Spread: Gsw -14.5
From the Thunder, Lu Dort just continues to look good from a fantasy perspective, but he is a GTD again here, so if he misses then it opens up a lot for other guys. Darius Bazley has looked pretty good over his last handful of games, but I like the price tag much better on FanDuel. Theo Maledon has been solid but a bit underwhelming. Moses Brown has seemingly disappeared since signing that multi-year contract with the Thunder, he’s a deep MME guy for just because we know the ceiling is there somewhere. Isaiah Roby has been grabbing some of those Brown minutes and has looked pretty good as of late, I would rather take the chance on him and he doesn’t use up a center spot but I hate the price on FanDuel. Aleksej Pokusevski looks like he’ll be out here as well, which opens up more minutes for Gabriel Deck who has secretly been a FPPM monster when given the time. Now for the Warriors, Kelly Oubre is likely going to continue to be out here, so let’s run some numbers with Oubre off the court this season:
- Stephen Curry – 35.5% usage rate; 1.58 fpm
- Andrew Wiggins – 22.3% usage rate; 0.87 fpm
- Draymond Green – 13.2% usage rate; 1.07 fpm
- Kent Bazemore – 18.2% usage rate; 0.87 fpm
- Jordan Poole – 27.7% usage rate; 1.1 fpm
Curry and Green both went over the 60 point threshold on DraftKings the other night and are guys you can go right back to in this one. As a whole I think you can target the Warriors a decent amount, and we have one of the higher totals on the night, I’ll really be liking that Thunder value.
5-star play: Stephen Curry, Darius Bazley
4-star play: Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Isaiah Roby
Deeper Value: Jordan Poole, Kent Bazemore, Gabriel Deck, Moses Brown
GPP Sleeper: Gabriel Deck
Los Angeles Lakers @ Los Angeles Clippers
Vegas Total: 211.5
Vegas Spread: Lac -8
Here we have the battle for Los Angeles, starting with the Lakers, Anthony Davis is going to be a premier play here with LeBron likely out again here with that ankle. I do like getting to him here at this price tag in a pace-up matchup against a bad defense but both him and LeBron James are GTDs tonight, so we’ll need news on them. Andre Drummond has looked solid over his past five games or so, the Clippers have struggled with big men all season long, you can go right back to him here for GPPs. I’ll never trust him in cash games though, especially this season. Dennis Schroder is still out for health protocols here, so we can go right back to Alex Caruso for value as he’ll likely continue to start at PG. I probably won’t get to Kyle Kuzma much here, I think you can do better than him in this spot unless AD is out. Lastly, Montrezl Harrell has seen his minutes cut pretty substantially since Drummond arrived and now with Davis back he’ll just be a fade for me here. From the Clippers, Paul George has been a bit volatile as of late but the minutes are still here on him, I’m more than okay going right back to him. Kawhi Leonard returned last time out to play 30 minutes but he hasn’t looked great the past two games since returning, but he is in play for GPPs here as no one will be on him and he could break out. He does worry me this late in the season, so I may leave him for GPPs only. Then you can round this team out with guys like Reggie Jackson and Marcus Morris who are in that same GPP boat, you can probably throw a guy like Ivica Zubac in that category as well.
5-star play: Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard
4-star play: Paul George, Andre Drummond, Ivica Zubac, Alex Caruso
Deeper Value: Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris, Kyle Kuzma
GPP Sleeper: Alex Caruso
